I tried the (locked) door then noticed the hours. I was already in my car about to pull away when the owner, Carl, came out and got my attention. He opened the shop for me and spent at least 45 minutes with me discussing the history of his store while I browsed his huge selection. Wonderful shop. Wonderful owner. You can't go wrong!

Unfortunately, we managed to pass by on the day they were closed, so we knew we definitely needed to make it back over -- and we were glad we did! It's a really neat store packed with a great selection of items from a myriad of fandoms. Comic books, graphic novels (including cookbooks!), figurines, LEGO, games, and more. There were also some fun accessories like LEGO earrings and necklaces featuring a variety of fandoms - Pokemon, Harry Potter, and more. Service was courteous and efficient.

All of whom are very very friendly! Royal Oaks is a never ending pit of used books! It was a bit overwhelming but I loved getting lost in the stacks and discovering the new ways the employees organized the shelves! They have a newish titles section in the front, as well as fun collectable items throughout the store. One thing to note, however, is they have a LOT of religious and confederacy books. So I, a queer person of color, was a bit nervous roaming the store. The staff briefly interacted with my partner and I and were very nice, though.

Even at night, when the temperature outside was 75, our sealed rooms with the giant portable AC units did not cool below 81. Simply put, these machines aren't efficient. As the other review stated, you'd be better off buying window fans from Home Depot or a similar outlet if feasible. We ended up using a window fan in one of the bedrooms, and it cooled much more effectively than Airpac's overpriced equipment. In addition, the man who installed the system seemed to be rushing. We wish we had gone with another option.

First- my card was charged a 50% deposit on the wrong date without my permission (I was paying in full), next I contacted the company and was chastised on the phone about opening a dispute with my bank. After all this, I found out that it is cheaper to rent industrial AC units and generators from Home Depot. Over 600 in savings- they did not like this so they ensured that the venue I was working with would only work exclusively with them. When I asked to rent one unit instead of two- they told me that was impossible and that "nothing would make me happy" I was cursed at on the phone and hung up on and emailed several times with multiple paragraphs about how they are a family owned business and I was wrong for saying they have terrible customer service. They would not have to defend their customer service, had they provided good service. But it wasn't just me, my husband and mother in law also received terrible customer service. I even have a voicemail from one of their reps saying that my husband and I need to make some "adult decisions." My guests were a little warm on the day of my wedding- but I would rather that than give this company any money. 10/10 do not reccomend. It appears they have a monopoly on the area and all the venues there so they can price their service at a ridiculously high price. If you can work with another company do it. Terrible prices and customer service. I am so upset I have reported them to the BBB as well.
