It felt like I was shopping at a Forever 21 X Shein X FashionNova sample sale. Things were cheap in both quality and price. The store was also pretty tight so the shopping experience wasn't great. The black woman at the counter was extremely rude and restless. Not only did she not say hello back when I, mind you: the customer, greeted her, she also mumbled through most of the interaction. Her mask was below her nose and didn't make any eye contact. I also saw her roll her eyes to a Spanish-speaking mother/daughter duo when she was checking out their items. I love this store! I have 3 daughters and 2 grand daughters who ALL like to shop and therefore have ALOT of clothing that we do not wear. What to do with all of these things if you have no one to give them to? You bring them to Plato's and you get (you don't get rich nor should expect to) however, you get something for the items you no longer wear or use. Everyone there is so kind and willing to be helpful and speak with you. Sherry greats me every time. They are all so busy and work so hard and I really appreciate all of them. I've been to the store since it's been open at least 7 times and reading the bad reviews, I don't know who or what they are talking about. Plato's Closet in Orange is an absolute joke. I brought in loads of high quality, name brand items and got a laughable amount in return . But the worst part, they tried to steal my brand new Converse by sneaking them into another bin without paying me a dime. When I called them out, they claimed it was an 'accident' and then insulted me further by offering $5 for shoes worth way more. This place is a scam, and the staff is either completely incompetent or outright dishonest. Don't waste your time or your items here they clearly don't care about fairness or integrity. Went here to sell my clothes for the first time and was weary after reading the reviews, but had a great experience. The employees were friendly and the process took under 30 minutes. Yes, the company is picky about which brands/styles they take... but that isn't up to the employees and not their fault if they turn items down. I got $170 for 40 items and left happy! If you aren't sure what items will sell, call ahead and ask. Wash/fold your clothes prior and bring in a clear bin. Also, don't expect to get a ton of money for heavily worn or out-of-style items. read more

I went in to bring in clothes to get rid of. It took about two hours for them to go through them, which since the store was busy, I had no issue with. When I got back, I was in line for about ten minutes to get my stuff back while there were staff members ignoring me and talking to each other. If I could put 0 stars I would. The employee was awfully rude and in a rush. I didn't feel welcome or wanted there. I brought high brand clothing in great conditions like arie Abercrombie zara levis brandy and lululemon. They took 5 items of which were 2 Abercrombie jeans, arie pants, and an arie shirt. And I got a mediocre amount of $15. Not even enough for a tank of gas. I had to drive 2 hours and waited 2 more hours for the process to end. Please save your money and dont come here. Terrible experience with the manager/district manager Abby. She is snarky, rude and frankly unqualified to be in charge of a retail store, much less to call herself the district manager. What a shame that the bar today for a managerial position is so low. She does not have the appearance, personality, or customer service etiquette to be in customer service. Last time I went here the girls at the front were so rude, the instant I came in it and tried to give my information to the girl she made me triple check everything to make sure my info was correct (it was) I left and ended up waiting a hour and went back to the store because they never texted me if my clothes were ok for pick up. When I got inside I asked if they still send texts (I didn't even mention they forgot to text me, I was curious about asking since it had been a while and I didn't know if policies changed) The girl was snarky and mentioned I didn't put the right phone number down (I did I literally was told to check it before I left multiple times) and when I corrected her she told me no I didn't. It was the same girl who took my info and clothes at first as well. Tiny ass place that's over crowded with inventory that definitely have holes, rips, and aren't even in good condition. Probably never going to this location again since they don't seem to care about the condition of what they have on the racks. I just want to say first that I've been going here for years. I went to college at UNH so I always went there (this was 13 years ago). I went periodically after I graduated from time to time. I've never had an issue, but this time was REALLY different and unpleasant. I saw the recent reviews and was shocked that were so negative. But I can't see why! FIRST: I went in with 4 bags (the reusable ones from TJ Maxx). She told me they only have a 2 bag (bin) policy. She also said they only accept bins and not the bags. I asked her where on the website does it say that? And since when? She had nothing to say because IT DOES NOT SAY IT ON THE WEBSITE. She claimed they started this policy recently. If that's the case, advertise it on your website! Ridiculous. I explained to her I drove up from New York to come here. She said fine and took the bags. However, it was like a challenge. SECOND: Not to mention HOW RUDE she was and EVERYONE else there. Like literally not one single person was nice. I was getting nasty looks and attitude. It's as if I was inconveniencing them for doing THEIR job. THIRD: When I went back to pick up the clothes they only accepted a small amount. I could tell immediately they didn't go through 2 of the bags. Oh and guess what? MORE ATTITUDE from other employees!! I can't believe this place. Soooo unprofessional and unwelcoming. Came in with my sister around 8pm on 02/01/23 and asked if they were still able to look at my clothes, they said yes. They looked through my stuff and I was just looking around the store, but i could over hear what they were saying... one girl said "is this men's clothes" and laughed and threw it in my bags, the other girl was like "should we give her $50 or less" i heard everything. They didn't accept most of my clothes cause it was plus size and that was disappointing. They only took like 4 things and not cheap things either. I also just wanted to point out that their attitude's sucked. One girl was begging and saying "it needs to be 9pm already" like if you don't like your job, LEAVEEEE, but for you to be giving me looks and an attitude for doing your job is an issue and it makes you guys look stupid. I always shop at Plato's for my jeans and boots. Years ago, I was able to bring in a bag of my old clothing to trade and even receive some cash back. The past few times I visited, they took between zero to four items of mine, adding up to no more than $4 in trade. The clothes I bring have tags on them or are barely worn with brand names, yet I am told that they are "too old." The staff is incomprehensibly RUDE. I do not need to go into detail on this matter, as I see I am not narrowed out here. All of the other reviews complain about the (lack of) customer service as well. I have been coming here for years and it's always been 'fine' but, my experience today is the main reason for my one star review. I was shopping with my sister and she wanted a pair of leggings behind the counter. After giving them to us and asking if we want them they tell us they're 'for Instagram'. Not knowing what that means they explain that I have to comment on them on Instagram (as If this is a common thing all stores do) and then we can have them. When we went to do that we saw that someone had already said they wanted them over 20mins ago. If Plato closet's going to prioritize their Instagram follower count over their physical customers that's their business decision but, to leave the leggings on the floor where everyone can see them just seems ridiculous. I hope in the future the 'Instagram items' are kept off the floor where they belong. read more
