Really concerning and disappointing selling appointments at this location over the past 2 days. Yesterday I came in to drop off some goods to sell-- I was told as soon as I entered that they were not taking any selling appointments today. No explanation just it's not happening. Stopped it this morning to drop off my items to sell. I was told the wait would be an hour..... after I did not receive a text for over two hours. I headed to the location only to find out that they were backed up and it would be maybe another hour or more. Now, since most people don't spend their entire day , waiting for their goods to be evaluated by Plato's closet.... I just asked for my bag of clothes back. At this stage, when I receive my bag, I noticed that the clothes that I had put into the bag were not all there. I told them that there was a dress missing and at first I was dismissed, later on when I described exactly the size and makeup the dress it was found in some other customers bag!! Thrifting is good for the planet! If you're a young adult, this could be a good little shop to look through. The store was clean and organized when I went despite the huge amount of content crammed in there. Everything is organized by size and color which makes things easy to find. There was lots to look through, and it seemed that most articles were about half or more off retail. The reason I take off a star is that there were articles being sold with more visible tear than I'd like and the pricing could be better for the quality of clothing sold. There's a fair amount of Forever 21/Shein type clothing in the store that's still being sold for a little less than what it would have been sold new. There is also a good amount of nicer branded stuff like Northface and Nike but they are priced significantly higher. I walked out with some new VS leggings and a lightly worn Nike hoodie for $25, which wasn't too bad in my opinion. Worth a visit again in the future! Ps: Remember to wash all your clothes after you buy them, there's no washers on the site to their merchandise! read more

Service was a minimal to NO help once so ever. I made a call at 3:30pm to see if they were looking to accept my clothes & they told me they're taking items until 6 o'clock today, & I told them okay perfect and began organizing, shortly after headed out of the house an hour after & made it around 4:30 their was little to no costumers & Niyah (with dread locs) and Bella proceeded to ignore us at the counter & turned us down after a few minutes of standing there. As I asked why didn't they communicate that they couldn't, she proceeded to say they can't take any orders during rush hours but there was no clothes behind the counter in bins or more than 2 people in the store that weren't workers. We expressed to them that this could've been avoided if the communication was made. It's all over priced shein and fashion nova. They turn down good items and accept shein and other fast fashion brands and sell it for more than on the website. I also saw an altars state top in there they were selling for 10 dollars with the 4 dollar tag still on it. On google the owner leaves condensing replies to any bad reviews too. The value they place on items being sold absurdly minuscule. They use Goat for verification, if you know about that site, you will understand they are not paying out what they should. They remind me of GameStop. read more

I love a good deal when it comes to clothing! That's why I always hit up thrift shops for my go-to needs. However, this Plato's Closet let me down a bit because of its limited selection and overused items. Most of the clothing was focused for younger teens while other Plato's that I enjoy have young adult clothing as well. Nevertheless if you or your young daughter/son need some inexpensive used clothing I would check out this shop. read more

I like browsing and selling at Plato's Closet locations, so I wanted to give this one a try. I know stores like these really reflect the community SES, so I wasn't too shocked when they were pickier than other locations I've been too. I was unhappy because later, when sorting the clothes again to just donate, I could tell my items were not even all looked at. Usually containers come back rifled through, but all my stuff was packaged the same. Now Lin, "Maybe they are just super neat about it!!". True, except I'm one of those people who roll their clothes, not fold. Everything was still rolled. I highly doubt they took the time to roll it back up, all the while matching to the original crease lines, considering how many containers they had to sort through. It is absolutely fine to not buy any clothes from me. But to not even look after I lugged it all there (I had three containers) and waited an hour? Inconsiderate. read more

Rude. Needed clothes in a pinch for a 20-something new to Cleveland winters. Bought over $100. Clerk left security tag on sweater. Charged me for items not placed in my bag. Went back next day to get sensor removed (with receipt) and was greeted like a suspected shoplifter when sensor went off as Ii entered. Clerk took a phone call in middle of my transaction to resolve their incompetence. No apology offered. Wasted so much time for not that great of merchandise. Will not be back. Franchise owned? First time selling clothes at Plato's Closet and I'm pretty pleased. The process is fairly straightforward: bring in your clothes, they sort through them to figure out what they can sell, and then pay you cash for what they can sell. Also, next door, is Plat's Closet's sister store "Revolve" which takes items of a slightly higher, more mature quality (for those of us who aren't teenagers). The only downside is that sometimes it can take up to 24 hours to hear back from them when your clothes are ready to be picked u (for what can't be sold) or for you to pick up the cash for your items. If you have anything that isn't too worn or is in high demand i think it's worth it to stop at this place before Goodwill or Salvation Army. Will definitely do this again the next time I clean out my closet. read more

I give this place a 1 star. We just did the Marie Condi method in our household and had a bunch of clothes to give away. I brought 4 bags of clothes with Patagonia, North Face and other name brand stuff. They literally didn't look at my stuff. I brought it in bags that were knotted (on accident). I came back when they said and was told they were going to pass. I get that most of what I brought isn't this years clothes but it could have at least been looked at. Waste of time! read more

This place has great deals and a fabulous selection! The cashiers were friendly but the place was understaffed. The other staff (two females that were accepting clothing/arranging payment) did not seem too thrilled about being there. There was a LONG line and the cashier I had (female) was kind but forgot to remove three of the security tags from my items. My husband had to break out his tools and remove them at home. Warning: you will encounter some weird people (customers). the place is small and has a lot of merchandise; take your time and really look around! I spent a LOT of $ here- over $200... So be careful! :) This is the nicest Plato's I've been to, they just need to get some more staff!!! Just visited the new location on Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst...I am a dedicated thrift shopper, but I could not deal with the WAY too loud "music", it was a turn off for me. The merchandise seemed organized but on the verge of being too packed in, so that it is difficult to see each item. My fiancé and I visited to find inexpensive work clothes for him. The minute we walked in, I wanted to turn around and leave. The entire store smells like mold and mildew, which may be the case given the speckles of a dark material surrounding all of the ceiling vents. Some of the items we saw had stains or were faded to the point we were wondering how they could have been purchased by the store. I would not return here. read more

Absolutely disgusted with the service I received at the lyndhurst plato's closet. I brought in over 100 items and they were done looking through them in 10 minutes? That's just ridiculous. They took 4 of my items. They even passed on a BRAND NEW pair of Nike tennis shoes. The staff here clearly does not know what is trending or in style. I also turned in 10 pairs of new maybe worn twice American eagle jeans and they did not take a single pair of them. They are absolutely ridiculous and I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE!!!!!! Quick with the customer selling process. Other locations I wasn't that lucky! They had a good selection to shop as well while I waited for them to sort my clothes. But as such any other platos, they rarely take what you have or what you think they will haha but I always have luck finding good, cheap finds at any platos! Strongsville, North Olmstead and Mentor have a Plato's closet too. I sold some clothes here a few times and several times a year they have a $5 bag sale which is $5 a bag for as many clothes marked as you can fit in it , the bag is small depending on what you can fit it's a good deal, would like to do that soon, but usually it's a good shopping experience here, the clothes are at a good price and selection and quality are wonderful. They keep the clothes updated all the time so they are fairly new for each season, not too vintage like. read more

First of all, their communication is 0/10, if you are a new seller they would not even explain the process nor verify your phone number and they will not explain that if you dont't come back for your items in 24 hrs, they will donate it without your knowledge! This place is very unshopable . Why were there three separate racks of shorts, all separately sized? The color arrangement is hard to navigate and the prices seem really random. 9 dollars for a lace bralette? Target probably didn't even charge that much. The sales people aren't much better. I was looking at one of their many racks of palazzo pants and the salesperson asked if I had seen their dollar rack. Why would you steer me away from a full priced item to a dollar item? Not a very good selection. It looks more like a goodwill than consignment shop. Majority of shoes are old and look very worn. The jeans selections are out-dated and most of the shirts are very faded. They were selling a pair of USED Jordans for $175. That is the cost of them new. When we told the clerk the shoes were overpriced for a consignment shop she said that was an old price and that it needed to be adjusted to maybe $110. Needless to say we didn't buy them but went back a month later and they were still priced at $175. Will be trying other location to see if they have a better selection. read more

This is a horrible store.. their merchandise is bad because they don't accept anything from sellers.. the things they do accept is trash. I tried selling them my brand new name brand clothes with tags and the only thing they accepted was a dress I bought from tj maxx.. they're very backwards and don't know what's cute or in style.
