Lets start with location - easy find VINTAGE HOME at 1235 Marquette in Cleveland industrial district just off E55th St. 30-45 min from Akron depending on the traffic I-77 to I-90 to E55th St exit.. Attention Baby Boomers and all others who have some spare time to take a leisurely trip to Cleveland and enjoy searching for a special furniture find. This establishment is a real find! Huge old factory filled to the brim with every kind of furniture, fabrics and on site upholsterers including antiques, retro, mid century modern, French antiques, mirrors, art moderne, classic colonial, danish modern and boho just to name a few. Despite the size of this place, and it is huge, its remarkably dust free and well organized. They also offer many services that you may find helpful i.e., house staging, downsizing services, consignment, trade-in specialty paints and beautiful fabrics with onsite upholsterers. Plan on spending a decent amount of time here - there is no quick way to take it all in except spend the time and familiarize yourself - maybe next time you can skip some of the areas that you are not particularly interested in. You might want to stop at Galucci's Italian market, close proximity to Little Italy and may I suggest Mia Bella - the oyster bar is a fun place to sit with plenty of top notch food and oysters, drinks are fab. Do not trust anything VNTG or its owner!!! I purchased small pieces from VNTG with good luck over the years, and used to loved going there to shop whenever they had sales. Because of this, I consulted and paid VNTG to reupholster a large amount of antique furniture that was my mother's and grandmother's. It took weeks longer than expected to get it back, but the first part turned out fine. When the initial reupholstered furniture was returned, we made arrangements with VNTG to pick up several pieces of antique furniture to sell on consignment. The furniture included various antique chairs and other pieces, plus a baby grand piano -- all in good condition. It took two trips for VTNG to pick it all up. We were promised both trips I was told that Michael would email us a consignment contract as soon as the furniture arrived at VNTG's warehouse store. After months and months of back and forth, I confirmed with the woman who had made the pickup arrangements that, yes, she remembers well the furniture being picked up, delivered to VNTG, -- and that their movers had damaged the grand piano moving it. She remembers this because this was all at the beginning of the pandemic and they were having trouble getting good movers willing to move the piano. Again I was promised that she would make sure "Michael" would call me to resolve and make sure to send me the consignment contract within a day or so. More weeks and months of back and forth letting VNTG know they had our furniture and Michael still had not sent us our consignment contract. Still nothing! Just broken promises. Never a return call. Finally, I went to VNTG to look for my furniture myself. I scoured the entire warehouse, loading docs, every room, everything. All of it, literally all of it, VNTG had already sold during the months waiting on "Michael or someone" to get us our contract. Not a single piece of my furniture was still at VNTG. At that time, the woman working said she didn't know what might have happened. I was told to call back and talk to their office manager. After numerous attempts over several days, I finally managed to catch VNTG's office manager by phone. She seemed to be the most honest person I'd talked to there and sounded completely deflated. She said she quitting after working there for about a year and only had a a few days left. She shared she was leaving because she spends all day getting nothing but complaints just like mine, passing them on, only to get a call back again that no one from VNTG was responding but her. She admitted that VNTG doesn't keep good records of what comes in, from whom, or when and who it is sold to. She said Michael never returns calls. She suggested I talk directly to the owner and she would have the owner call me back right away. I had to insist she give me the owner's cell phone number just in case I didn't get a return call. The owner, like everyone else, never returned my call. Two days later, (because I had insisted on getting the owner's cell in advance) I called the owner and told her the whole history -- names of people I had worked with; details of the furniture picked up by VNTG; the movers dropping and breaking a leg on the grand piano; who I had followed up with; what happened each time (i.e., Michael or "someone" was supposed to contact me, never got a call back ever; and that they had sold my furniture without paying me. The owner, who was at the Cleveland airport and was flying back into Cleveland at this time, promised me she would personally look into it as she was heading to the VNGT store from the airport. She confirmed she had my phone number on her cell and would be back in touch. That was a year ago. I have never heard back from the owner or anyone at VNTG! MY ANTIQUE FURNITURE AND BABY GRAND PIANO WHICH, KNOWING VNTG'S PRICING, WOULD HAVE SOLD FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IS GONE! VNTG SOLD IT AND NEVER PAID ME MY PART OF THE PROCEEDS (HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!) Furthermore, I have learned that VNTG doesn't do its own upholstering any more. The first part of what they upholstered for me (my grandmother's and Mother's antiques) they did in house. The second part (three bar stools) was outsourced and they failed to inform me. It took more than a month longer than promised to get back. In the end, I had to pick it up at the third-party outsourcer myself because VNTG was so unreliable. I cannot discourage you enough from trusting VNTG. When the owner knows what is going on and that her customers are being lied to and cheated then does nothing -- you know that behavior is condoned by the owner herself. read more

VNTG Home is located in the fabulous Tyler Village Complex (right above Got a Groove Records), so I was lured in during the August Cleveland Flea and I have been back every! weekend! since! - And I never leave empty-handed. If you haven't been to their sprawling showroom yet, GET ON it! VNTG Home absorbs furnishing lots from estates, takes items on consignment, and sources them through their talented design staff to fill their football-field-sized loft space. They have everything from small tabletop tchotchkes, framed art, and linens to lighting, furnishings, and other unique items. It's a treasure-hunter's paradise because everything is so reasonably priced and they frequently run generous sales and promotions on top of that. If you're anything like me, your design sensibilities can run away with you sometimes. I might look at a chair and say, "I LOVE it! I only wish it were . . . a different color/texture,etc!" That's where VNTG Home goes from being an awesome second hand furnishings store to being a place where actual, honest-to-god MAGIC happens! Their in-house 'up-cycling' services employ decorative finish artists and upholsters so you can choose from their LIBRARY of fine fabrics and paint finishes to customize any piece in the store. To date, I have commissioned a custom bench cushion and pillows for a window seat in my house and I'm dying with anticipation of their arrival! The design staff was helpful and encouraging and the whole process was so easy and affordable! So, what I'm trying to say is, I'm in love. Such a fun store to look around in! If you love vintage furniture or need a cool or unique piece for your room this is a wonderful place to visit! The staff here is super friendly and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask if you need anything! This is a hugeee store, so definitely plan on spending a decent amount of time here if you plan on seeing everything. If you've ever been to the Cle Flea, VNTG is in the same area and a perfect place to stop after the flea! My favoriteeee room here is the china room! There are so many beautiful sets of china. They have a lot of complete sets but you can also buy individual plates and cups as well. I feel like it is the perfect place for brides that want the mismatched china theme or really anyone who appreciates beautiful dishes! Finally, just a quick tip! Like I said, the employees at VNTG are super nice and I have found that they are willing to do a little wheeling and dealing with the prices at times, so don't be afraid to ask about prices or deals, especially if you are buying multiple items! I have given myself a few months to cool off before I wrote this post. My husband and I purchased an armoire from then back in May. We were told it would take about a month for them to paint it for us. I verified that they would call us once the item was complete.We paid for the item and paint job and left. Over a month and a half went buy and I called inquiring about the order. I was told I would receive a call back from Stephanie and I never heard back so I thought I'd try reaching out via email. Stephanie told me she would check on the item first thing in the morning and get back. Over a week went by when I had to call again. This pattern went on. In all, it took 2 months for them to finish our order and me constantly reaching out. I was so excited to purchase from them and have the item painted but after this experience I will never go back which is unfortunate because I have many items I'd like to buy for our new home. read more

Do NOT consign with this place! I consigned items on April 7 and have STILL not received payment, despite assurances received on SEPTEMBER 17 that I would be compensated. The staff could not even tell me whether any items sold, and I was told that the items were probably on the floor when I could see that they were not. I have called repeatedly throughout the summer and only one person has bothered to respond. And, that was after my friend, who recommended VNTG Home to me complained to them, as well. I have purchased items from VNTG Home, as well, but you can bet I won't be doing so again. Very unprofessional. read more

They get good reviews for people buying their furniture. HOWEVER, NEVER consign your goods with them. I consigned about $4,000 worth of antique furniture, mirrors etc. A few things sold but it took me 10 months of countless calls and emails (most never returned) with different answers from different staff (which has a big turnover). It was agony after the LONG run around to finally get my 2 checks for about $600. read more

PLEASE, listen to the other reviews! I didn't do enough research, or I'd have seen them, and surely have gone a different direction when consigning my furniture. I had some VERY nice items, and Vntg seemed sooo helpful and enthusiastic about the process of getting them picked up and consigned. Meanwhile, my girlfriend, who had older things/not their aesthetic, was given the run around for weeks. Turns out this is because the MAIN thing VNTG does with your stuff is-- not try to sell it like they promise you they will-- but use it for their own convenience and gain in staging homes, which is clearly their bread and butter, but not something that is advertised when you are looking to consign. If you complain upon realizing this, they'll inform you it's 'in the contract' and though it seems the contract has been updated, when I consigned there was one hidden line to the effect of you give VNTG Home the right to use your items for 'other enterprises' but no explanation of what that meant. My things showed up on multiples of their home sale listings, in staged photos, and really no place else. I didn't realize this was even a thing until I went to their retail location and realized barely any of my stuff was on the floor. The stuff that WAS on the floor was mishandled, in one case broken (a desk had the leg pulled loose and was left sitting there like that), and left in corners you could never reasonably expect would get them any exposure. A pair of chairs somehow managed to sell despite all of this--and of course, I still haven't received a check. The people who work there are nice enough, but clueless--when I called at the end of consignment, no one could tell me where my art was or if it had been sold, or when the alleged check went out. Basically, this company is using predatory practices that favor only their best interests, with no regard for customer service. If you want your stuff back at the end of consignment, regardless of the terrible job they've done facilitating their sale, they will charge you a 'restocking' fee. So basically you're paying them to take your stuff AND to get it back, and they can sit back and do nothing to fulfil their end of the deal. I would feel better if I had just donated my items to charity; VNTG Home doesn't deserve the profit they're essentially stealing from their consigners. read more

Decided to give this place a try despite all the negative reviews. I was in need of a new dining room set, and given that my house is older, I preferred the idea of something antique. However, most antique dining sets are extremely expensive. At VNTG home, my family and I wandered through their 55,000 square-foot warehouse, and were able to find not just a gorgeous antique dining table, but also multiple chairs and a buffet in a similar style for under $1000. Admittedly, it takes multiple hours and lots of perseverance to find what you want, but they have lots of product to choose from. Only a few pieces that I saw were already sold. If you are in need of vintage or antique furniture, I highly recommend this company. A bonus if you live in the Cleveland area is $49 delivery. The delivery service is white-glove and the employees who deliver the furniture are consummate professionals. read more

To get your business (liquidating your home), they present you with big numbers and give you the impression that you will make good money in their consignment store. Don't expect to get what they tell you. They reduce the price before items even hit the floor. They call it "promotional discount." Beware if you are hiring them as liquidators. Read their fine print very carefully. And don't expect to get the same service and response after you have hired them as liquidators. When I asked their top administrator why my check for a sold item was so low relative to the price they originally quoted, he could not give me a clear answer. He told me he would get back to me, but I should call him back if I don't hear from him - which I did. He never called me back after that. read more

Poor customer communication! I signed my contract in January and the furniture picked up shortly after and I basically haven't heard from them since. I spent months emailing with no response. Now I simply get emails with excuses about their slow response times and they continue to say they are doing an "audit"--which sounds like they don't have any idea about my contract or furniture. The team at VNTGHOME was amazing to work with. They are so creative They helped me choose fabrics and finishes to transform my dated pieces into something fabulous. They helped my coordinate color schemes and brighten up my pieces. I took a chance and gave them all of my furniture to revive. 2 sofas & 6 arm chairs The results are stunning. Crazy amounts of cool furniture, and they also "UPcycle" (paint / reupholster) in-house; this is not some small consignment or hole in the wall resale shop. They have all kinds of staff and designers, and furniture at every price point and era. But no fru-fru too-precious antiques, or appliances, or clothes, if that's your thing. Not mine. I like the older stuff they've made usable and cool again. They just moved to a new location and it's crowded 'till they get things tidy. I like that better. Their old place was where the Cleveland Flea is at, but the new place is obviously a lot bigger, like twice as big. read more

This company is a hot mess. I can't speak to the quality of their inventory, but I can speak as someone who consigned his furniture. If you give them your beautiful furniture to sell - don't do it by the way - you MIGHT see payment, oh, four months after they sell it, or, maybe you won't see payment at all, and they won't respond to your calls. Sell your vintage things on Craigslist or an online auction. Buy them there too. read more

I agree with other reviews stating communication is lacking. That is putting it mildly. I have reached out to Bruce many times after he said he would speak to me when he made me whole. I expressed my frustration regarding the lack of communication throughout this business transaction. I even contacted him one more time, stating I would write a poor review if he did not call. I feel I gave them every chance to right my situation. I paid quite a bit for my reupholstered piece, and I would expect return calls in a timely matter. Delivery was a nightmare, I took off 2 full days of work, waited and never received a phone call as to when delivery would take place. I called them, only to hear many excuses. Stephanie was also apologetic regarding her lack of responding to my calls and emails. I can not recommend a place that does not communicate properly. Too many other upholsterers are available. I would definitely not recommend doing business with VNTG. After I filled out the customer agreement and designated a charity, should my furniture not sell, they came to pick up my furniture. I called a few times over the next several months to check the status of any sales and got nothing but a run around. I was told that I would receive return calls, which I did not receive. I was told they were having trouble with hiring responsible employees, and finally, 9 months after they took my furniture, I was told it had not sold and was being donated. I was them assured I would receive a form for tax purposes stating the furniture had been donated. That was almost two months ago, and I have received nothing. So basically, I handed over my furniture and they did not live up to their obligations in return. Avoid!! read more

I ordered and paid for fabric on 12/30/2017. I was told it needed to be cut and that couldn't happen until the following week. I came back to pick up my fabric after the date they told me it would be available. They did not have it and stated it needed to be ordered and they would ship it free of charge. This was in the beginning of January. I still had not received my fabric as of March. I called to inquire and spoke to an employee on March 12th. I explained the situation and she didn't seem to care. I told her I'd like my money refunded which she agreed to. I still have not received a refund. After looking into it I'm hardly surprised based on your better business bureau rating of D+. read more

We arrived when it opened on a recent Monday morning. As we walked through the floor, we noticed that no less than 70% of the merchandise was already sold! We even found additional delivery/sold signs on the floor that had fallen off of the furniture pieces. It was incredibly frustrating to constantly have the conversation "oh that looks nice - dang, it's sold already." There were three other couples there who left in about 20 minutes after loudly commenting that "everything is already sold!". After asking one of the employees at the desk why everything was sold already, she said that if we knew what kind of item we wanted, she could "take pictures of items in the warehouse on her phone" and show them to us. This is not an effective business model. I am not going to drive 30 minutes downtown to look at pictures on someone's phone. Nor would anyone spend money on a larger ticket item based on a picture on a phone. My advice - move all of the sold items to the front portion of the store behind roping or a sign that says something like "I've found a new home." Also, move all of the furniture that was sold over the weekend to this location. It's great if you want to be open seven days a week, but was a very frustrating experience since everything that wasn't completely banged up or stained was already sold. We probably won't go back which is a shame - their idea is cool and we love consignments! read more

Please do not purchase from this company IF you expect any customer service or follow up. I purchased 2 chairs on their website and called to arrange for pick up . I was told to call on Friday and they would have the merchandise available. When I called on Friday to arrange for Saturday pick up - my chairs that I ordered AND paid for could not be found. Apparently they were moved to another warehouse. I waited for a return call regarding the status. No one called. I called back twice and eventually I spoke with a Stephanie who could not find the chairs, I decided to request a refund and she was kind enough to offer me a gift certificate for the mishap. I never received the refund or the gift certificate so I called again and was told that they would process the credit that day and call me back to confirm.... You guessed it no- one called me back and the refund has still not been processed. It has been 25 days since I paid for the chairs and yet to receive the refund. I have called the credit card company to dispute the charge- hopefully that will get their attention. This has been a frustrated experience. I love their store idea but they need to work on the service and follow up skills. read more

After putting just a couple of large items on consignment with them, I heard absolutely nothing. I called to follow up, and they didn't know if the items had been sold. The items were not on the website. I went to the store and the person at the desk, while very pleasant, could not find a record of my items. I searched that entire place and did not find them. The person at the desk promised she would look into it and have someone call me. Another person at the desk said she remembered the items and thought they had sold right away. It had at that time been about 3-4 months I'd say, from when I put them on consignment. Three or four phone calls over the next six weeks or so with unfulfilled promises to call back -- nothing. Finally I received a check. No explanation, no accounting. I wonder how much of the actual sale price they actually kept. It was a very unsatisfying and aggravating experience. read more
