I used to love going to Plato's Closet in So Cal and was excited to find one near me out here. Goodwill prices are getting ridiculously expensive, and I heard that there was a sale at Plato's so I stopped in. I am in the process of updating my entire wardrobe and knew that I needed items for the warmer weather. I got 2 tube tops and a cute summer dress for $17. I wish there were more sandals and a variety of shoes in general. Prices are fair and there was a good selection of clothing items. The workers are so incredibly rude and entitled. I had to wait over 2 hours just for them to tell me that they didn't want anything because of the "condition" yet i brought MULTIPLE items with the tag still on. And if they so called shop for the logo, then why are they not taking my Lululemon or WHITE FOX?! Mind you, the white fox items were brand new and still had the tag on. Staff was pretty friendly however it's a hit or miss. They either don't bother helping me with a fitting room or are very kind. My issue here is the pricing. I found multiple pieces that were priced higher than new pieces online. I found multiple gym shark shorts that were still available online at a cheaper price. This was my first time to this store and I had two bags of men's clothes to sell. I walked in on a weekday afternoon. There were only a few customer in the store and it seemed pretty slow. I asked how long it would take for them to process my items and the young woman at the counter told me 30-45 minutes. I looked around the store and then left to run an errand and came back an hour later. When I got there she told me that it would be another hour and a half and that I had multiple people ahead of me in line. This was extremely frustrating because I had planned my afternoon around the original timeframe I was given. The staff here were really nice and the store was enjoyable enough to sift through. They walked me through the selling process and allowed me to leave my clothes and come back. I stayed a shopped for a bit and put things on hold so I could buy when I returned for my sold items. Everything was great until my hold items were put in a non-descript location .. when I returned to pay and get my items, the staff didn't know where my hold items went and I had to pick them out of the hangers and pile of things that were getting put back on shelves. Luckily, I got all the items I originally had but it seemed very disorganized. To be fair, it was a holiday but could have still labeled my things or made a note. read more

We waited the full time went in and asked if they had gotten to our stuff and was told by the staff what time I "actually" got there and what time it was supposed to be ready which was another 30 min. First time in from Phoenix, AZ and I had fun. My short trip to Denver had me in a location near plenty of shopping venues. An easy walk from my hotel I dropped in to check out the clothing. The venue was busy but the staff was on their toes. I was greeted the moment I walked in the store. I had a special request and was directed to the location of where this item would be. Well it was my day because I found exactly what I was looking for. Matter of fact my item was in mint condition. Brand new with original tags attached but at a great price. The shop had many cool items that seem to attract a younger or hip/modern demographic. Affordable pricing with well conditioned items. I get that you have to have a legal name to sell clothes; however there is a small minority of transgender folks that are going through a transition which would appreciate a preferred account note stating they're preferred name. So you don't take clothes in certain sizes; great... but I don't need to hear your ignorant comments while I'm in the dressing room because you have a loud mouth. It's disrespectful and downright annoying. Some of us our body compositions change from smaller sizes and grow into larger clothes. Maybe your pregnant cashier could be educated on the appropriateness of her loud voice. Just say the clothes are too small we can't accept them. I was looking forward to consigning here for the first time as it's on my way to work. I understand consignment and don't get hurt feelings if a place doesn't like my clothes, if no one buys my posted FB Marketplace items, etc., so this is not a "wounded feelings" counterattack... Yesterday I went in with two bags. All were five years or less and brands such as HM, Ninewest, kohl's and Nordstrom rack purchases...nothing fancy or high ticket but all still worn fashion (maxi dress, blouses, both chunky and delicate jewelry, etc). I registered my name and they said it was looking like an hour wait so they'd text. I looked around for about ten minutes. There was A LOT of inventory and some great though some pretty yuck for lack of better words. The active wear and dresses in particular were outdated looks and overcrowded. Anyhow...I honestly felt certain they'd take all my stuff based on what I saw. 15 minutes from my initial walking in to the store, I was in my car waiting for a text. I pulled out of the parking lot and got a text that said they'd take ZERO of my items. Honestly, I thought it was a mistake because it's been 15 minutes, not the hour they'd quoted (faster is better, great!, but I thought surely they hadn't looked through my two bags in that time. I'd been in the store almost all of that window!), so I u-turned back. They said, yep...lots of inventory and they take current trends and are particularly looking for back-to-school items now. That's fair...would've liked to know that ahead of time but, ok..BUT, then why didn't the items reflect current trends exclusively? Again, not to make my items seem more than they were but all of my bag contents were current style. Not all one season, Fall if that's what they're looking for...but still very much in fashion. Especially the jewelry and summer dresses! ZERO? And the hard no in five minutes time? It seemed like a lethargic excuse, not at all legitimate, fair, or knowledgeable. Haphazard is the best way to put it. I drove straight to Buffalo Exchange on Broadway. They had a line and 45 minute wait (a con, I'll give Plato's credit for uber quick turnaround time) but took my items (not all, but more than half) and were thorough in going through them even if they hadn't! I will say their prices are higher (con as buyer, good for consigning) but clean, organized, and trends for many styles and eras with knowledgeable staff who have an eye for all these things. Plato's seemed more like a garage sale with no clarity which is unfortunate because I really wanted the convenience, deals, knowledge and objectivity, and just common sense that Buffalo Exchange brought. I appreciate any privately owned, local consignment, bakery, store of any kind, so I do hope the owners here...who seem helpful and of good intentions...can tweak the uncertain chaos of Plato's. read more

I came in here a couple months ago to sell clothes. Most were really nice and in style - some were even bought at this Plato's previously. However, I do understand that it's subjective. But out of 2 whole bins, they took ONE shirt. I thought this was outrageous. Come to find out after double checking the clothes I brought in - THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK THROUGH IT ALL!! My clothes were still piled the same way I brought them in, except for the very top layer. That means they didn't even look at my clothes. I also had to drive a ways out from my home, wait 3 hours, then go back for absolutely nothing. Half my day was wasted. I then went to the Plato's in Lakewood and they gave me $75 and took most of my clothes. Also did so in 20 minutes. After that, I had reassurance that I wasn't just crazy, that this Plato's is a load of garbage and very unprofessional. I brought a good amount of clothes but not as many as I have in the past and I will be the first to admit that there were some things I wasn't sure they would take but I figured I just give it a try. I maybe had 30 items and they took two. I had a barely worn Allen Iverson jersey and they didn't even take that, out of everything I for sure would have thought they would take that. He offered for me to go back in and get my clothing thoroughly reviewed. I don't know where to begin with this post because it is very upsetting how much clothes I lost at this place. So I dropped off a lot of clothes- maybe 40 pieces in a big tote bag and then I went to go pick it up a week later. Nobody at the front desk informed me about this policy, therefore, I didn't rush to pick up my clothes within 48 hours as their policy indicated. Anyways, I go in and find this horrible news-needless to say they don't even call you to notify you that they will be donating all clothes if you don't pick up within 48 hours. On the bright side though, I was granted $11 dollars store credit for clothes that were worth much more and were donated without my consent. Anyways, I used that credit and bought some black boots. Overall, horrible experience. And the cashiers were very slow and inexperienced with the cash register. read more

Overall, this is a great location with really low prices on trendy clothes, shoes and accessories. This is the newest Plato's location in the Denver area and I was seriously counting down the days to the grand opening because this is the closest to my house and i really like stopping in to Plato's every couple of weeks to see what's new in there. I was a little disappointed at the selection of this location, but I'm guessing that since it had just opened, they probably were a little less picky about what they bought then the others, simply because they were starting from scratch and needed to fill up the racks in time for the grand opening. The employees here weren't overly friendly, but again, I am cutting them some slack because they are all probably new and just trying to figure out the job, etc. I am giving this location 4 stars, because I am really a fan of the Plato's concept and the other locations in the Denver area are fantastic and I'm hoping that this one will also rise to the great status of the others after being open for a couple of months. read more

I really enjoy thrifting. It's a wonderful feeling to find that retro piece that fits the look you're going for. Plato's Closet has a vast variety of shoes, dresses, tops, jeans, hats, accessories and handbags. No matter the occasion, you should find a complete outfit here, but sometimes it takes a little digging. I enjoy coming her to peruse the new items added to the inventory as it seems that there is a big turn around and items don't last long. Many new items are added to the shelves daily, so you don't have to feel like frequenting this little store is not worth the time. Located right off of Colorado Blvd. this is a very convenient location if you're in the area or catching a film at the IMAX down the street. The staff here are always professional and cheery and I always feel welcomed when I walk through the door. read more

I just said, no problem and I left. I never find anything that I like here. All of the things look very used and old. It's better to just sell your items on Poshmark or something like that. If I could give less stars I would. They won't let me in with my backpack that is my "purse" but they let the woman in front of me in with her giant "designer bag" (employees words) in. I asked the manager what the difference was between my backpack and her giant designer purse and she just stared at me with no answer. Because there is no different. I get very overwhelmed at this location and tend to just say forget shopping... Selling here is a hit or miss. They have very specific things that they need.
