Personally, I feel like every time I go into this store I feel judged by the staff. They are all teenage girls who don't understand customer service and just don't want to help you. I've sold and bought here multiple times and every time I sell I'm getting ripped off. I came in earlier today to sell. I had two full bags of clothes with five items that were new with tags. They took all five items +5 other items and only gave me $31. I genuinely was very surprised when she told me that she was giving me $31 for 10 items. When half of those were brand new with tags then she has the audacity to tell me that I had great items and should consider them when selling again, when I know they're going to sell these items for 5x the amount that they gave me for. Not to mention the clothes that I had sold to them were popular, namebrand clothing items that were worth more than $3 per item. I understand that stores need to make a profit, but there is no reason to be profiting 5x the amount that you are getting these items for and stores like these need to rely on others to sell and if they're ripping people off like this people aren't going to sell anymore. read more

I would give this 0 if I could. I brought a whole bag of trendy, new clothes. Some even with the tag still on it, I waited thirty minutes and watched the girl through the window. She spent about two seconds looking at my bag. Her attitude was terrible and I knew once I saw her face she didn't do anything to it. She told me there just wasn't anything that fit their standards. I saw a bright yellow ripped jacket in this store and questioned everything about "their standard", I later looked in my bag and there is no way she even went through it. All my clothes were still stacked and looked untouched. So brown hair girl with a fake looking tan, who slapped on her gum. Take this piece of advice, try. Try harder, do better because it's people like you who don't try and it shows and will continue to show until you start. It's very noticeable. This place used to be top notch to sell stuff, also was great to find many name brand retro and athletic shoes. They had knowledgeable management and knew what everyone wanted. Now you can barely sell anything to them unless your a 19 year old girl in college. They also never and I mean rarely ever. They don't Have anything men shoe wise that means anything or is a good buy like mens basketball or jordan retros. And today they tried to sell shoes my girlfriend put on hold to other people as we walked in to pick up the items we sold. If we were five minutes later they would of been gone to a re-seller. All in all I had this place at 5 stars 2 years ago. Their management and staff need to get a little more knowledgeable and focus on more than one group that one group being college women. I have both sold and purchased clothing here before, and both have been very disappointing experiences. First off, the biggest problem is the staff. They are rude and unprofessional. I have given this place multiple chances, and it has been this way every single time. The next problem is the lack of organization. It is near impossible to find anything in here, and there is way too much jammed on every rack. Lastly, if you want to sell anything here, forget about it because they never want to take anything. I have tried to sell things that they have advertised they are in need of, and they either do not take any of it or offer $2 for one brand new tagged item, at which point I just declined the lowball offer and went elsewhere. It's pretty ridiculous. Overall, I would avoid this place. There are plenty of other consignment and secondhand shops around with better customer service. read more

Plato's Closet USED TO BE good. It was like a step up from Goodwill. Now, it's like walking into American Eagle bargain bin...they are brand focused instead of QUALITY focused. The atmosphere of this particular store is, crowded, overloaded with clothing in the isles and! By people who aren't being served quickly enough. *Clothing is relatively cheap, though it's mixed in well enough with over priced items that savings are masked by vague over looking. Their CREW, is full of caddy, judgmental girls. Very unprofessional demeanor. I had never sold clothing here, only purchased, so I thought I'd try it out...I was never informed that my clothing had been finished for over 35 minutes. I sat there (in store) waiting until I went around the counter to the registers, where I was finally informed, that they weren't accepting any of my items (which would have been completely fine, had I not waited 35 minutes to hear about it!) The only way I would be a return customer, is if I was absolutely desperate for something to wear. read more

My husband I I love scouring consignment shops on the weekends and this is our second string shop. If we aren't headed to Cleveland, we end up here. As an older shopper, a lot of the higher end labels remain after the teenage girls scoop up their buckle jeans. They have seemingly revamped their pricing and some items are way overpriced, however. I have found nearly all of my jeans here (true religions for $15! This was prior to their new pricing system I think), a $3800 Valentino garavani handbag for $18 and many many other amazing finds. As with any other store, it's hit or miss, but we almost always find something! Also, their discount punch card is great! Spend $200 and get 20% off your next order! I love this Plato's location! I make an hour trip to shop here and always leave with so much great stuff! The focus walls are always set up amazingly. The clothing is so organized and easy to browse through. The buyers do such a great job of being selective and only choosing super trendy clothes to sell! I use to come here a lot but I eventually stopped due to following things ; rude workers, basket switches (meaning they don't give you the basket you have come in with), also the store itself is so compacted with things it looks bad, they're so picky on what clothes they take and pay next to nothing for top notch items. I rarely go to Plato's closet, but today my mom and I wanted to run in for just a few things. Might have taken us 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately, when we walked in at 8:45pm (when they close at 9) they told us they were "taking final purchases now". As someone who works in retail, I never deny someone service until it's closing time and would not be so rude about it. Literally the worst Platos I've ever been to. Had two full boxes of clothes and shoes. Brands included ugg, American eagle, juicy couture, sperrys and other high end brands. Told me they couldn't take anything and asked if I wanted a "style guide." Very offended and business is unprofessional. Offered my friend 18 dollars for her Kate spade wallet and fossil purse. Declined her marc Jacobs book bag and purses. Extremely annoyed... traveled 40 minutes to get here. Didn't even look like they went through my items. Don't recommend coming here. Only reason I gave this review one star is because zero stars isn't an option. This place is completely unprofessional and rude to their customers. I would know considering I worked there. The workers whisper about the customers as they're walking around the store, they gossip as they're ringing out customers (barely engaging with them), and they're all around just not a great bunch of people. As for the franchise itself, it's not a bad store, I'd just much rather take my business to Uptown Cheapskate as they pay more for your clothes you decide to sell and they're much more engaging, not to mention their store is much cleaner and more pleasing to look at. read more

This location has wonderful selection, huge sale racks, friendly staff, everything you need to have a great shopping experience. Prices are great and they keep their racks with the trends unlike my Plato's in AZ. Wish I was in this state more often! read more

Honestly the worst experience I've ever had. While waiting to sell items I browsed the store: torn and stained items everywhere!! I went in with a couple bags of summer clothes- considering it's going into the summer season and they only took a shirt and some jewelry giving me $3 dollars for them. Then they had the audacity to tell me to come back with summer clothes. Did they even go through my bags?!? I waited for 45 minutes for them to go through my things to find out it was ready 20 minutes prior and they never notified me. This plato's closet has the most clothes I've ever been to! I've been to 5 o 6 different ones including some on the west coast locations. I was a bit annoyed with the fact that they didn't give me 10% off my purchase when I sold clothes there. I've been selling/shopping with the company for 4-5 years now, and the sales associate tried to tell me they only did that promotion when they just opened. Strange how I just got 10% off in Portland, Oregon 6 months ago. Otherwise, they had a good selection of items and bought 14 pieces of my personal stash! read more

This was a horrible experience all together. When I can up to the counter they looked at me like I didn't belong there. They took none of my clothes saying that they were dated, over worn and that it wasn't the style that the store was looking for. Some of the clothes in that store were from the 80s and not the punk 80s like old lady 80s. But I'm sure if you stole something from your grandmothers good will pile or it looks like you took it from the sporty girls next doort they would love to take it. Punk goth or emo teens have no place in this store. They won't give you anything for your clothes. read more

I honestly love your store. Clothes are priced reasonable. I dont even bother selling my clothing there anymore. Last two times, the girl was sorting through my clothing while talking to a customer. She didnt look at not one item, NOT ONE! She was just making sure she unfolded each one. I stood there and watched her. If I was an ignorant person, I would have video taped it! Not one item sold, go figure-SHE DID NOT LOOK AT ANY OF MY ITEMS! Then she called me up and made all sort of excuses on why they could not buy any items from me, again this happened twice! I had name brand, in-style, nice items! Went to uptown cheapskate-they bought all of the items except for a pair of heels! Meh. Okay selection, pretty good prices. Almost got a pair of sandals for $2 and a purse for $8, but decided against it. The girls' clothes are cute but...kind of passe (for someone that lives on the coast). Good variety of high end jeans at reasonable prices and it's nice you can try them on or return them..I do get a little over whelmed with the shirts since there are so many crammed into one spot...some things are over priced like all thrift stores you have to really dig and look at stuff..now selling is a whole different ball game they give you close to nothing and what they keep verses not is puzzling..over u can get some deals if you put in the time. read more

This location USED to have poor customer service, BUT the girls working there now are AMAZING! They are super helpful and really try to save you money. I buy all of my clothes here! Now of course it takes a patient person to shop at any consignment store but I love looking through all of the clothes, it's way worth it. They also have this great new Clearance room in the back, I can get like three outfits for $20, I'm so over the mall. Also I read some negative comments on how they buy clothes, but keep in mind they only want the best quality and they have SO MANY people selling to them all day every day, so don't be offended! The way they choose clothes they're going to take doesn't make sense. They turned away my brand name clothes, almost new not even a year old telling me they are too worn & no longer in style. I turn my head around & a shirt on the rack behind me is a washed out, faded black with animal hair all over it. I get rid of clothes at least twice a year and they have clothes from at least 5 years ago in there. Offered me $20 for a pair of $100 miss me jeans that I wore once. Subpar experience. read more

Not worth trying to sell anything here. After waiting an hour for the girls behind the counter to stop chatting, they gave me my offer. $4.25 per pair of mens levis/gap/express jeans. Their apparently sell items for 70% off, and offer you 30% of that value. So 9% of retail price. I wish they had told me that when I gave them the clothes, instead of an hour later. I wouldn't have wasted my time. Also they don't want higher end brands such Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger. read more

All of the latest styles, as well as, many classic items in their selection-AND the fact that the items are quality at a great price keep me coming back. American Eagle and Gap but as I looked on their racks they had clothes from brands I haven't heard of in at least ten years-Contempo Casuals, and clothing from cheap stores like Dots. Literally worst SECOND HAND store I've been to. I had three large trash bags, and three miscellaneous small cloth grocery sacks all FIL LED with clothes and a five dresses on hangers. Freshly washed and folded. Took them inside, filled out the paper, and they said it would be 20 minutes. I WAITED FOR A STINKIN HOUR AND A HALF. They said they'd put my name on this whiteboard when they were ready to tell us. I kept checking and checking and checking and finally I got sick of waiting and asked politely if they knew how much longer it would be. Girl goes back and takes the paper I filled off the bags and says they wouldn't take a SINGLE PIECE OF CLOTHING FROM ME. APPARENTLY ALL MY CLOTHES WERE OUT OF DATE AND SEASON AND ALL OF THEM LOOKED WRINKLY. Yeah, well maybe they look that way because they've been sitting behind your counter for so long and you didn't even let me know. Who knows how long I would've been waiting had I not asked. read more
