LOVE the business model: they will be limiting membership so as to ensure members have access to equipment when they do come in, and things never get too crowded. I recently started seeing Chad as my personal trainer (also owner). Chad as a trainer has been FABULOUS! He works hard to devise solid, all-body workouts well in advance of me being there. Having worked with other trainers who choose to workout on the fly, this was uber refreshing - I need to be in and out in under an hour, and his preparation in advance ensures this. He was sure to sit down with me in advance, find out my history and goals. His workouts have been challenging, but not so much so that they are discouraging. If you're looking for an uber clean facility with top-notch equipment and a staff that actually cares, look no further!

Downtown gyms are really horrible. Just let me get that out first. I finally chose Anytime because they ARE NOT/DO NOT HAVE: Absurd prices, crowds, Iinitiation fee, activation fee, towel fee, pushy sales people. What do they have? 24 hr access, towel service, individual shower rooms, awesome trainers that know you by first name, yoga studio with video workouts, tvs, good looking people, and free parking. All downtown. Yes, it's true. Good amount of cardio equipment, and more weights than you can imagine. My gym buddies have also commented that they have more machines than most locations. The shower and bathrooms are also really new and clean, no gross tiles with the weird swampy smells, and rusty metal stuff. and because it's on 1st street, you can grab a bite just about anywhere along this street because you had a great workout and you deserve it! It's been sort of counter productive for me, but I assume I'm the only one with no willpower.

We saw a good deal on Kijiji and went for it. I have to say I really enjoy it. This location never seems to be very crowded, and there is a lot of excellent equipment at your disposal. The staff and trainers all seem very knowledgeable and eager to help out. Towel service means never having to bring your own towel from home. Electronic lockers means you don't have to bring your own lock and memorize yet another combination of random numbers. There is also a jacuzzi tub, a dry sauna, and a steam room. Rounding things off, there are private showers, so you don't have to shower with 15 other guys or girls (I assume the ladies also have private showers). Always do your research when joining a gym. If you have to get a contract, make sure it's one you can work with and that you will use - don't spend money on something you won't use four months down the road, let alone 15 months.

Here are my reasons: (1) absolutely no customer service as it relates to your policies. You have access to an email that goes to who knows where and no one really knows whats going on; (2) in connection with item #1, they adopt and enforce absolutely ridiculous policies. I was a member of the Vancouver branch and wanted to transfer to the Calgary branch. I was told this was impossible. Instead, my options were to "upgrade" my membership at double the monthly rate or cancel my Vancouver membership, re-enroll with Calgary and pay the initial joining fee again; (3) there's no water fountain. This one is actually extremely bizarre. How can it even be legal to permit people to work out in an environment where dehydration can only be mitigated by waiting for some guy to finish his business in the washroom so that you can desperately access to sink taps? I know its a "no frills" gym but, Fit 4 Less, is a water fountain really a "frill"? At this point, your members may even settle for a garden hose attached in the alley. Don't sign up with this gym. I realize the price point "appears" worth it, but trust, there are better ones out there with similar or the same prices. (World Gym in Calgary for one).

But then I went to their Adrenaline classes and fell in love with moving my body. If not for these classes, I would have cancelled my membership a long time ago. It's built my confidence and now I can go by self and build my own workouts. All Adr instructors I've had have been amazing. Special shout out to Johnena, and Jorge for really caring, correcting, and keeping things so fun. I've even made friends in these classes which wasn't expected. The ONLY reason I have not rated Repsol 5 stars is because the Adrenaline instructors are the *ONLY* ones who do not get paid an instructor salary to do so. I don't think this is fair and if it wasn't for the Adrenaline instructors, I wouldn't be there. And they build programs, carry and set up equipment, correct, teach 45 minutes, and tear everything down. The exact same things their other instructors do. It's terrible they don't pay them.

There were a lot of people there who really looked like they knew what they were doing - lots of free weights , cardio machines, weight machines, cable decks, etc - even a punching bag area and boxing area and showers and sauna - a shop with supplements and shakes too. The prices weren't posted, and when I asked beyond the first person who tried to sell me the 50$/m I was told if they aren't sales, they can't even give me guidance on typical pricing , so I felt like something fishy was going on - no one asked me if I enjoyed my trial or followed up with me after - I went back to my old gym, crowded, but bright, cheaper, and they say hi when they see me.
