It pains me to write this review, since the proprietress is pleasant and polite, and the shop appears well-organized. They can do an adequate job on simple alterations (shortening sleeves, hamming and taking in waist on pants). I would not recommend them for anything more challenging, such as shoulder and collar alterations on jackets. (After $200 worth of work and numerous fittings, the jacket is a total disaster, unusable.) I would also recommend that they invest in a three-way mirror. read more

I was in a serious bind due in part to my procrastination. I needed dress let out in the chest and had one week to get it done. These ladies had it done in 3 days! And they did a great job. I paid a small fortune in my mind but I don't know what the going rate for alterations are. They were super nice. I would gladly recommend them and return again. What an incredibly good and positive experience I've had with this company. Brought my bag to get some Velcro pieces sewed on the strap. I also had some Velcro sewed on a few patches. They did an amazing job and they were able to accommodate my pick up time, which was the next day. They were very polite and wonderful. I'm extremely happy with how my bag turned out. I just discovered that Platinum Stitch disregarded my instructions about shortening the sleeve of my leather jacket at the elbow level (as the leather jacket was designed and cut to be) and they ruined the shoulders of the jacket by attempting to shorten the sleeves from the shoulders. Both the stitching and the cuts they made in the shoulders are terrible. They have almost ruined an expensive leather jacket. I have to pay a lot of money now to fix the jacket and I do not know if it's even fixable. read more

Great place, quick work, well priced, and convenient. If they can't fix it, they will send it to their partner in Sterling. I found the experience very matter-of-fact, get-down-to -business, no schmoozing and chit chat. It seems that they've seen it all and are unfazed by any challenge you might bring. Came here based on reviews to get a few pairs of pants, a dress, and a romper to be altered. Everything fit perfectly with the exception of the romper as it was hard to get over my hips and bum, but that could have been my fault as I wanted taken in at the waist to be more fitted, and although it was a little tricky taking it off with the pins I still managed and figured it would be once altered. The place is small and nothing fancy, but all in all it was a good experience. The owners were super nice and had my items done much quicker than anticipated. Found this place on yelp...I've been in a few times since. Have had my pants lengthened, taken in at the waist, and taken in the legs. Everytime the quality is great and service is quick. A bit on the pricey side, but it did save me from buying a new suit after loosing weight. Worth the expense to know that my clothes will be well taken care of. read more

I needed to get a formal gown taken in about a week before my event. Platinum Stitch was able to pull it off! I was a little disappointed in the price - $50. But maybe that is the going rate to alter a formal dress. After my event I was left wishing the dress had been a little bit better fitting, but overall I received a lot of compliments and was happy with the results. read more

Needed my Mother of the Bride outfit completely altered. They did a fine job, providing custom alterations in a timely manner.

They're good tailors and the price is OK, but they're not especially well organized. The first time I used them I dropped off a suit jacket, and let them pick the time it would be ready. I showed up at the appointed time, and not only wasn't it ready, they had lost my order altogether. They eventually found the jacket, then told me to come back in another week. Later I dropped off another suit for alterations, and again let them pick out the time it would ready. They gave me a date a week later, and when I showed up the Friday it was supposed to be ready, they were still working on it. I looked at the ticket, there was no indication I was supposed to pick it up in the afternoon. So when they said it would be ready Friday, it should have been ready that day whenever I got there. I may be a glutton for punishment, but their work isn't that good I want to make multiple trips for clothes that will be ready whenever. read more

I have had two dresses altered here (one a bridesmaid and the other a dress as a wedding guest) and was very happy with how they came out. I am always hesitant to get clothes altered because I'm extremely picky about fit and have had some poorly altered clothing in the past. The experience was ok when it started. I took 2 bridesmaid dresses in for alterations, nothing too complex but quite a lot of taking in. Went in at noon on a Tuesday, there were several tailors working. Got my dresses pinned etc and was asked when I needed them (I told the seamstress the date of the first wedding and she chose the Tuesday prior as the ready date which was the week of wedding #1 and exactly one week later). Ok great, see you then...fast forward to 9:00 am the following Tuesday, I arrive at opening to pick up my 2 dresses which are supposed to be ready this day. THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED THEM! It was as though I had 2 heads when I walked in expecting my dresses to be ready. I was then told they would be ready the following day, which was no good for me. Then it changed to they would be ready later that night...I honestly didn't have time to return that day but I rearranged my entire day and went back. The dresses were "done" but still needed a little work. Luckily it was clear I was irate and I specified that I would return at noon the following day and get them. They were ready. The work was ok. Some loose seams and strings hanging on the hems. And the worst part is I was still charged full price ($190) for work that was clearly done in a rush in less than 6 hours. I would never recommend and will never return. Buyer be ware. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for Platinum Stitch for over a year now. This place saved the day just 3 days before my wedding. I purchased my wedding gown from a store in Maryland and had it altered there as well. 3 days before my wedding I put my dress on, and it wasn't fitting right. I had told my alterations people in Maryland that I felt the dress was still to loose on me. They told me they wouldnt tighten it any more. When I tried it on 3 days before my wedding I had a bit of a melt down over it, feeling that it was still too big. By the grace of God we stumbled upon Platinum Stitch about 30 minutes before their closing time. The seamstress stayed after her hours to take me in and take a look at my dress. She promised she could help me out. I came back 2 days later on my way to my rehersal dinner to try on my dress. It was PERFECT. I cried of happiness. I totally took a chance with Platinim Stitch, and it sure did pay off. My dress was perfect on my wedding day. Not only that...but it was unbelievable how inexpensive it was. For a wedding dress...with only 3 days notice. I couldnt believe my ears when she told me the final price...in fact I had planned on paying tripple the amount that it ended up costing. Being the procrastinator that I am, I didn't try on my gowns for a ball until the day before. My favorite dress didn't fit anymore, all I needed was an inch. So, I looked on Yelp and found Delia from Platinum Stitch. I called at 10:00 am and asked if they had time to work a miracle and they did!
