Came here due do the Yelp recommendation. The place was half full (on a Friday evening). All other places were reserved. They told us that they can have a table outside for us, which we greatly accepted. We ordered a bottle of whine and still water, 2 starters and two main courses. Everything was delicious. So disappointing. I'm genuinely upset that we went here on our last night in Milan. Trip Advisor and Yelp both had great reviews, but it was the worst restaurant of our 3 weeks in Italy. It's not authentic - the menu is all in English. Everyone there was a tourist. The waiters, only 2 of them, were unorganized and honestly, not the nicest. The good thing was everything on the menu is between €10-15, so consider it a bargain. The mussels starter was good and a great value for €8. However, our pastas took a while to come out and when it did I was given the wrong pasta dish. No big deal, they quickly put in a new order for me. But the other pasta dish was given to us on a hot hot plate (which Gordon Ramsey explained meant it sat under a heat lamp). Neither pasta was impressive, both actually lacked salt. I didn't even take any pics of our meals because they didn't seem worth it. It's a €12 a plate kind of place, not a real Italian experience. read more

This was our first stop during our visit to Milan this weekend! We had just arrived, we were starving, it was close to the hotel, and I had seen all of the great reviews on Yelp, so we decided to try it! So glad we did. At first it was a little touch and go, you know your traditional rude Italian service staff, but to be fair we did arrive at 2:30pm and they were going to be closing at 3:00pm so they were anxious to close. After the typical huffing and puffing about our late arrival we were finally seated. I will say that I guess they weren't that anxious since they still sat 4 more parties that arrived after us. After a while service became way better and the woman running it was perfectly pleasant and chatty. I've noticed this throughout Italy that the staff is so cold at the beginning but then they really warm up. The food: we ordered two different dishes: the cacio-e-pepe and a zucchini flower tomato-based pasta and both were heavenly. Quality ingredients. The pasta is freshly made and perfectly al dente. Cute little place and would be adorable in the warmer months to sit outside with your pasta. We will be back!! read more

What a disappointment! We went on the recommendation of someone we knew. We were asked on arrival if we had a "green card", which as US citizens we had our vaccination cards instead, so we quickly showed the guy. The server, bartender immediately said we were to sit outside, which we did. A bit disappointed, but we obliged. At this point there was no one in the restaurant, we got there right when they opened. It was a bit chilly (no heaters), but we figured this is such a fabulous restaurant we don't mind. We waited for 10-15 minutes (remember NO-ONE) was in the restaurant. The guy totally ignored that we were there, does he hate Americans or just having a bad night? We'll never know, because we got up and walked away, totally not happy. We came here for the pasta, so I had the saffron and speck ravioli filled with mozzarella and spinach, and I tried a lot of the spaghetti carbonara. We had the tiramisu, as well. I don't want to sound like I'm exaggerating, but the ravioli was absolutely delicious. The creamy saffron sauce was amazing and well-absorbed by the ravioli. The ravioli had a nice al dente bite to them. The filling was tasty. And the plentiful speck added a nice rich and salty flavor. Just great. While I liked the carbonara sauce, the spaghetti was a bit undercooked as a few strands were hard. Still tasty, but a little boring. The tiramisu was a really nice end to the meal. Creamy but not too light. Not too sweet either. Maybe it could've used more cake, though. For that ravioli alone, I'd definitely eat here again. Though, the tiramisu was good too. read more

Our first day in Italy and the kids were yearning for some Italian pasta, both kids are huge fans of the comfort staple. I looked for a place near our Hotel that served home made pasta and Platina showed some really good reviews. The place did not disappoint, we showed up on a Saturday evening at the open without a reservation and were really lucky to get a table. After we sat down many people were turned away without reservations. We had the octopus special as an appetizer and I think I commented to my wife that this must be the best I've ever had, not chewy, smoky, flavorful just perfect. The ravioli, pasta carbonara and other dishes we had were all fantastic, the staff was very attentive and friendly. We would definitely repeat. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would... Arrive to Milan last night from Florance. Came here because the 1st place we tried was completely booked for the night. The other place was incredibly appoligitic. This place was half empty and when we walked up asking for a table they weren't sure at first. Gave us a seat outside (only option). We ordered 1 pasta (light eaters) 2 glasses of wine. Server seemed annoyed by this. The manager I'm guessing came out immediately and told us she couldn't let us stay and have the table if we only ordered one meal. Immediately so insulted we left. Basically kicked out. The restaurant is a trendy little spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. the wine and drink selection was extensive. We ended up getting the seafood pasta and pasta carbonara. The waiter was both helpful and accommodating with our limited Italian. My favorite was the seafood pasta. It was both filling and delicious, with hints of white wine in the sauce. We've had dinner twice at Platina over the last two weeks. Matteo was our server on both occasions and provided excellent recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxed with hip music softly playing in the background. We've had a number of pasta dishes - meat and seafood - and they were all excellent. Our last pasta meal featured venison, which was quite tender and flavorful. Appetizer choices are somewhat limited but interesting and tasty. A variety of desserts are a nice finish to an excellent meal. They have a good wine and beer menu, both are reasonably priced as are the meals. We stopped for a late lunch and had marked this place in our Google maps based on other online reviews. We were quite hungry and were looking forward to a hearty meal... We were not disappointed. My daughter had the carbonara, wife had the ragu with fresh cheese, and I had the shrimp and pesto. All three were excellent and left us thinking of these dishes days later. We visited Milan for just 2 nights and wanted to get an authentic Italian pasta experience. We came to Platina right at noon before having to rush away to catch our train (by the way, they really open at 12:15, not 12). I asked if they could do a carry-out order for us, so we could eat the food on the train. They didn't hesitate at all and brought us a delicious bowl of saffron ravioli with some bread to go.
