I've visited twice for the Maryland Plant Alive Festival. During the festival, which draws a large crowd, parking is available across the street at the golf course. On a typical day, though, there's a dedicated parking lot right on site, making it very convenient. The greenhouse was filled with a great selection of plants, all of which were well organized and appeared healthy and well cared for. At the front of the store, they also have a fun assortment of unique planters, vases, and other plant accessories that are worth browsing, even if you're just stopping in for a few plants. read more

If you're an avid collector then this place is a great spot to be. They carry a lot of rare plants and they do a good job taking care of each one. The downside is that this place is quite pricey, but that comes with the rarity of some plants. Other plants you could get cheaper elsewhere. So, I would research which plants are common in big box stores and then which plants are only in specialized stores like this one and then determine whether the higher price tag is worth it. Everyone is nice and knowledgeable so if you're also new, it's great to strike up a conversation and learn how to take care of the particular plant. I come here for my wife and I stay to stare at the chickens. read more

The festival was very nice. While Mother Nature wasn't cooperative the festival was. The Plants Alive never disappoints and selections were nothing short of amazing for beginners. The greenhouse is huge! There's also a cat roaming around so that's always fun. Really sweet and knowledgeable customer service. I had a ton of questions even about my plants at home that I needed supplies for and the staff was extremely helpful. Wide selection of plants and on inspection the plants were healthy, and well maintained. I appreciate the service of repotting a plant for me before I took it home because it was root bound in its current pot. Prices are higher than what you may find in a big chain but I think the value and quality is worth it. read more

don't do what I did....do not come here all dressed up in freaking heels, because you'll be tripping over yourself LOL I came here before a viewing all dressed up....and boy oh boy, I will not be making that mistake again. the parking lot is all gravel & you have to kind of walk down hill to the greenhouse. once you're inside though, it's all gravel and rocks. I was so excited to come here to buy a butterwort for my collection of carnivorous plants. they have a larger selection than most nurseries in the DMV area. So I came here after seeing an instagram post and following their page. It's off the side of the road and seems like it's a persons house. It's after that you'll see the greenhouse. There are 2 parts the huge greenhouse and the cultivation/ propagation station. The propagation station is where the plants have the best prices, although it is expense. The social media did an excellent job in introducing this place and making people want to go. read more

This is my second visit! The first trip over the summer I purchased a peace lily and a snake plant. They have a variety of plants and different price ranges. From low to high. My tastes in plants are expensive. lol! I also love you can ask any one that works there about any of the plants and they are very helpful and knowledgeable. This trip I got a small Alocasia. They definitely have a great selection of plants, I've seen a lot of really cool things there and the greenhouse is beautiful. The only downside is every single plant I have purchased from there had some sort of pests. (Mealy bugs and thrips specifically) Obviously this totally happens when you have an operation that big but definitely recommend quarantine, systematic granules and a good insecticidal soap bath for any acquisitions. read more

Visited on earth day! I was so impressed with the size of the nursery, amount of plants, and the price of the plants were very reasonable. They had such a great selection and also had so many rare plants as well. Employees were so nice and very informative when I asked them anything. I plan on going back! They have everything you need from soil, pots, various plants, and a cute cat who patrols the plants! 6/19/24 - Stopped by at 5:50 hoping to buy a plant for my kid, even called earlier and confirmed someone would be there until 6pm..noone was there. 6/20/24 - Stopped by at 5:40 hoping to buy same plant..even spoke with employee confirming someone would be there, noone. 6/21/24 - Had my wife stop by at 4:20pm to buy plant..again, noone in sight. Also not a single person is answering my calls. Why even post hours when its not honored? Google needs to update business hours asap, they do not stay open til 6pm. This place is actually a hidden gem. It looks like a normal house in the front, because it is. The nursery and greenhouse is actually on the back of the property. You turn onto the driveway of the house and parking is in gravel spaces on the left. Then you walk down the hill, passing the chicken coops on the way to the green house. The greenhouse is massive and I honestly couldn't believe what I was looking at. The variety of house plants, and trees that are in this place is astounding. They even have a rare plant section with plants that are yes, up to $450! Not only do they have a variety of plants but they have a large quantity of each variety. I was really just in shock to see the stock that was present. The prices are a little high, but that's to be expected at a private nursery. They have a lot of mature plants as well, not just smaller plants. They also have a small selection of pots and trellises. These plants are so beautiful and if you want to experience a new nursery, come take a visit! If you're looking for a rare plant, they may have it here! They also have plant classes. I came here on my birthday with my friend because its only right to buy a plant on earth day! The staff was so kind and the greenhouse is beautiful!!! Dante was very honest that the plants we got were Divas while explaining how to care for them. He even gave us tips on how to build a greenhouse. Debbie was super sweet and she checked on us to make sure we were satisfied with our experience and even took pictures of us with our new plant babies. Jeff was great because he sent me away with a free succulent for my birthday! I told them we would bring our friends back her because the environment was refreshing, staff was super kind, and the location was spacious with many options. I heard about this place from one of my plant groups online. I had to register because it was their first year anniversary event which started at 1000 and not sure what time they ended. I got there a little before 1100 and their parking lot was full. I got lucky because someone was leaving as I was planning on turning my car around. I waited patiently and waved them thanks. There was a lot of vendors around- from clothes, food, decor, art, accessories and all things plants (macrame hangers, pots, planters, plants, etc.). I stopped by at Niraj's booth and said hello then walked around to check out vendors and merchandise they had. It really wasn't what I expected but it was a nice surprise. I checked out the greenhouse and it was totally packed! Packed with people and packed with amazing plants. I was in plant heaven! They had a lot of great stuff from rare to very common house plants and I wanted them all! In the end I came gome with a few begonias (which were $1 each!) I've never been good with begonias but I mean for that price, I'm willing to try again. They also had some bamboo plants which were nice and tall for 50% off. I grabbed one to gift to a friend and of course another one for me because twinsies. Then a grabbed a couple hoyas (chelsea and mauna loa) that were just nicely priced. I couldn't say no. I came out spending a lot more than I wanted because I already spent an arm and a leg at Niraj's booth but it was totally worth it. They also gave military discount which was a plus!!! Then I proceeded asking the girl that helped me checkout why they haven't harvested their calamondins (which are also called kalamansi in the Philippines). The guy told me they weren't ripe yet and I told them they looked pretty ripe to me and it's a shame no one is harvesting them. I asked if I could grab a few and he said take as much as you want. So I did! Bwahahhahaha. (If you're Filipino you would understand). Anywho, I took all my newest plants in the car and spent a good 5-10 minutes picking kalamansi. Everyone was looking at me like I was stealing and someone actually asked me and I assured them I had permission to take as much as I wanted. Then one of the workers/maybe owner? saw me and started pointing out the ones he picks (which were truly ripe) but I told him that we use them for dipping sauces, salad dressing, juice etc. and sometimes we pick them before they get too ripe. He told me he uses them for margaritas whic will definitely try! What a great place. Please go and visit them! Grab some plants and have some fun with the chickens roaming the compound. read more

Really nice walking around in this greenhouse. A variety of common plants as well as a table dedicated to rarer ones. My only concern was that the dirt looked very compact in some of the aroid's pots, which I believe like more airy loose soil. Would be concerned about root rot if they stayed like that for a while. Beautiful plants nonetheless. Will be back! read more

This is an awesome nursery! They have some rare anthuriums and uncommon alocasias too. Nice variety, love to see it in the dead of winter. The best part is that they show what they have on Instagram which is what will get my sale every time since it's about 35 minutes from my home and not a place I can casually swing by. read more

Really cool plant shop! It's a little far from us (located in DC) but totally worth the drive. The shop is essentially a greenhouse full of indoor plants (and maybe some outdoor ones - not totally sure as we were only looking for house plants). My roommate ended up getting a big monstera deliciosa (aka Swiss cheese plant) and it was a great price compared to some others we had seen. The employees were super helpful and kind and one helped us carry the plant to our car. Great shop and great service - definitely check them out! read more

I came out for their Makers Market in April and I was really impressed by the greenhouse space, the array of plants available, and how great it was that they were supporting the community by having the event. But! The best part of the experience was that Jeff is sooo helpful when you're buying the plants and after the fact! He's so responsive and has such a wealth of knowledge when it comes to everything plants. He spent a whole half hour with me on the phone explaining how to care for one of my plants! Drove all the way from PA to check this place out, it's not the cheapest but it's not the most expensive and they definitely have the most rare indoor plants I've been able to find in person, as well as a large amount of each. If you follow their Instagram page you can see new plants as they arrive and call ahead to have a plant set aside for you. Keep in mind they only sell indoor plants. The employees were super nice and knowledgeable, highly recommend a visit if you are looking for indoor plants. They also have some pots/planters and the plastic trays/bowls for watering. read more

I have been to the location once and was so impressed with the customer service but also the variety of plants. I also really enjoyed their set up to be very Covid friendly but also allow you to walk around without feeling like everybody is watching you make bad plant choices. So not only did I have a great experience in person, I just called to get advice for my Ethan problem and Jeff answered the phone five minutes before they closed. I felt bad calling so late but the aphids are bad, and Jeff gave me some really amazing tips that are using things I have at home. Great customer service. Great selection. And! This place was amazing! I actually gasped when I first walked in and had to take a few minutes to figure out where to start first. They have so many plants on my bucket list that I had to convince myself not to buy them all in one shot. They have such a large variety from succulents to tropicals, hanging plants to floor plants, common ones and rare ones. What I really loved was that they had smaller versions of a lot of their larger plants and thought all of the prices were much better than I expected. The woman behind the counter was great! She was so nice and helpful with advice on lighting, watering, and humidity and was able to spout it all off without having to look anything up. They also have a resident cat who is adorable and is absolutely the boss of the place.
