First time at Plant House - such a wonderful selection of household plants as well as rare plants! They had the cutest little section for plants that were orphaned. Such a cute and soft place to shop for some new stuff. They also repotted and gave helpful tips on the new babies we purchased!
I had such a great time at the plant-making event that I couldn't resist signing up for the candle-making one too. The candle event was definitely fun and a cool experience, but l'll be honest--it wasn't quite as exciting as the plant one. It was quicker, too, so I didn't get to fully immerse myself in the zen of crafting. That said, I still had a good time and would definitely do it again. But if given the choice, I'd probably jump at the chance to make another plant terrarium.
My PLANT PEOPLE!!! First THANK YOU RAY for saving my pretty Philo and bringing down my blood pressure. I awoke this morning opening blinds for everyone to get some morning sun. Mable the Philo "said" to me, Hey I'm not really feeling at my best. Immediately I called my daughter, Tal also a plant mom. Talha visited here a few months ago adding to her collection( as I continue to propagate for her). hummmm. She was happy with the service and knowledge the staff has. So I packed Mable up with 2 of her friends and took the drive. Needless to say now I'm back at 120/80 and Mable, Fire and Curly as all doing GREAT. A quick diagnosis by knowledgeable Raye and repot. I picked up some soil also. Great day for a plant mom! The plant house is a great amazing awesome store. Everything you didn't know you needed is available here. Pots, all sizes, plants of all varieties, nutrients, soil and tips from the staff. I cannot wait for my next visit! THANK YOU BEST FRIENDS for your help this afternoon.
I had no idea places like this existed!! I was searching for things to do indoors since it was raining and thankfully stumbled upon the planthouse. I made a same day reservation for terrarium building on Eventbrite. Note: the deposit is $25 and is all inclusive with the materials for the terrariums. For any upgrades, you pay the difference. The location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. When I walked into the planthouse, I felt like I was in a jungle. It was magical! Me and my friend checked in, were given a little tour and instructions for the terrarium building. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had so many questions! There were plenty of plants to choose from along with a huge selection of materials available to build the terrariums. It was so much fun and something I've never done before. Love love this concept! Can't wait to bring more friends here!
Truly love this place! PlantHouse, previously known as PlantBar offers a wide range of plants and plant needs! I stopped in to grab a bigger pot for my plant at home and left with a new plant I've been wanting for a while. Aside from their great service and affordable plants and accessories, I also love how they offer free potting and repotting service as well as terrarium classes. If you are a plant lover myself, definitely check out PlantHouse.
I've become a lover of house plants over the past couple years and have been wanting to visit the PlantHouse since they've opened. As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the store was and I absolutely loved the aroma of fresh plants. They have a large variety of different plants (all of the plants were healthy and very well taken care of) and plant holders and the prices weren't bad at all. The terrarium area was very cool as well and they have a large amount of terrarium plants and vases to choose from to make your own, unique terrarium. After looking throughout the whole store, I decided on the Spider Plant and I am so happy with my decision but it would have been nice if an associate asked if I needed any assistance. Unfortunately, no one approached me. Either way, I absolutely love this store and will probably be returning to take a terrarium workshop class or even purchase another plant baby.
I came along for the ride with an actual plant mom, and was a bit overwhelmed with the plant selection. It is a cool spot, and I almost got a plant (although I am not ready to commit, so I ended up not purchasing anything. I'm gonna sleep on it and go back when my friend returns, if I decided to become a plant mom. Everyone there was super chill, basically was there to help when help was requested. They also have a cool terrarium setup area where you can go individually or have a party. When I decide to fully commit to taking care of an actual plant, I'll be back. If you're into plants, I highly recommend.
My mom took me here as a Mother's day gift. I was blown away by the selection. The employees were so knowledgeable and helpful. I could spend hours in there. I was able to get a few really great plants for a good price and I loved the value of the propagation section. I can't wait to go back.
I am from Roanoke, so we don't get to Va beach often anymore, but I found Plant House doing a google search for houseplants. Walked in and fell in love. I'm a house plant hoarder (as my husband says) I purchase a plant every vacation we go on. Here are my three new babies straight from where I grew up! I love this place and will definitely go back next time I'm in town!!
Loving my new plant and planter from the Planthouse (see picture). I've been in twice now and had the best experience both times. During my most recent visit there was a walk in terrarium class happening and although I didn't participate it looked like so much fun and everyone's project came out sooo cute! The concept is to pick your plant and planter separately and on checkout your plant is replanted to your container of choice. Such a neat idea! They also have a good selection of plant accessories...watering cans, stands, books etc. The planter options and plant varieties are considerable and the folks that work there are incredibly knowledgeable. They will let you know how to care for your selection.... how much light it needs, how much water, etc and answer absolutely any questions you have. I have two cats at home and when I asked for help selecting a feline friendly plant I was given a tour around the store with instruction on which was toxic and which was tolerable. My personal choice was again confirmed "cat friendly" at checkout and I walked out with a new green baby confidant that if one of my critters decided to try a bite I wouldn't end up at the vet. So all this said, the prices are a bit high but the level service and variety of choices justify the cost. Whether you're a newbie to the plant world or have been enjoying plants in your home for years I highly recommend stopping in for a visit.
I loooveeeeee the new location in Hilltop off Laskin Road. It's a big and beautiful place bustling with friendly staff and tons of plant-themed goodies. I was a fan of Plantbar when they were at the Holly Road location and have done several yoga classes there. I have followed them on Instagram for updates so I was excited to see this new step for them. I stopped in during the week one day last week to avoid the opening weekend crowds and was not disappointed, several friendly staff asked me if I had questions or needed help and were happy to make plant suggestions and offer advice while I browsed. There is a beautiful and large bar in the center which, in non-Covid times, is going to have cheese and snacks and you will be able to purchase drinks to enjoy while you browse, how cute. In the back right of the store there are many terrarium tables where you can come in (with or without an appointment) and make a terrarium to take home with you. They also are going to have set classes and days so you can follow them and browse their website for that. (You can also book them for a large private party). All in all - I ended up getting three new plant babies to add to my collection and a new, larger pot for my Hoya Krimson Queen which has outgrown it's pot from last summer. I love the larger store with more room for plants, beautiful pottery, more terrariums and more staff! They have some cute gifts and candles and books and other items for sale as well throughout the store. Free potting with any purchase of a plant or the pot. If you purchase a plant you can bring your own pot and they will pot it for you before you leave.
I love this place! My first visit to the new location was nothing but pure green joy!! The Staff is energetic, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable of all the plants. All of their employees greet you with a smile!!! Their customer service is unmatched!! Please keep up the great work!! They have a beautiful assortment of plants and pots!! No need to worry about getting your hands dirty if you buy a plant and a pot they will repot it for you!!!
This was my first time experiencing plant house. The event was educational and fun. I learned a little more about succulents and cactuses and how little water they need to survive. Building the terrarium was something new for me and I enjoyed myself and the people I shared a workspace with. You can also buy bigger plants after the workshop is over, which I did.

I came to Plant Bar with my family to celebrate a belated mother's day since my siblings were all in town. I didn't see online that they stop walk-ins an hour before closing but the girls there were so nice and accommodating and let us stay since they were hosting a smaller class soon. We were so thankful for that! The way it works is you pick out a container (which is a hard decision, they're all pretty) and then you're told how many plants will fit inside. You can choose between air plants or succulents and then you're free to create what you want with the materials at the table. There was different colored sand, moss, driftwood, shells, and more! My nephew had fun making a succulent creation, and my mom had a blast making her jellyfish piece. I didn't catch the name of the woman who helped us, but she was so sweet and helpful. I'm not that creative, but she helped me organize my project into something I loved! They also sell plants which I hope to come back for to fill my apartment. The place feels so fresh when you walk inside and it's so green and lush. The classes seem fun too! Plant Bar is such a cool business and I'm glad to have something like this in the area! They have a really cool plant selection, and I plan to snag a snake plant on my next visit! read more
Went here on the day before Mother's Day and had a blast. The staff was so friendly and helpful. There were plenty of fillers to add to your projects. Plenty of options to let your creativity shine. Thank you plant bar for the perfect start to your Saturday! Definitely recommend going when they open- it gets busy quickly! read more

Brought girly on a surprise date day to the Plant Bar! We absolutely loved it and had a blast! So unique and surprisingly affordable. It was a quite day and I didn't expect to bump into many people on our terrarium building excursion, but we were pleasantly surprised that it was actually a packed house! I was the only grown human male that stepped foot into the Plant Bar that day, but my ego remained intake throughout the entire experience. HA! So fun though, honestly. We built a wicked terrarium with air plants that require little attention. Thank God, cause we some lazy folk when it comes to chores like watering plants much. Many cool and interesting items were available to build out our snazzy glass plant bowl. Girly loved the date and we had a great time! There were free mimosas too! Booze us up and send us home, that's what granpappy use to say! read more

This place is awesome! Very clean, great plant variety, with a bar! Casual terrarium building station, open at anytime provided that there is space. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Plants are on the pricier side, but plants are healthy and worth it. I just love it there! read more

As a plant owner, this place had a very basic selection of plants. The inside was very pretty and the aesthetic was nice. The placement of some plants were unethical. The staff were meh. I didn't do a class or drink. I'm not local to Virginia but I won't visit this again. Step your game up y'all read more

Awesome place!! First time in and was greeted by Abby she showed me around and I picked out a beautiful "Swiss cheese" plant. She went above and beyond to split it and repot it and put it into two new hanging baskets for me. Had a Mimosa while I waited and enjoyed the scenery. Place has a cool atmosphere and beautiful indoor plants. Staff is very informative and extremely helpful. read more

I came here with my girlfriends for our birthdays. It was pretty cool. I had just started getting into plants. I actually have a green thumb. My husband is happy with that since things are legal. ( wink wink). It was a little busy but that's a good thing. They had several work stations for you to create your design, plenty of staff to help, and array of glass bowls to choose from. Oh, and tons of plants!! I am definitely planning on going again. I don't recommend bringing your creation to wok unless you have a window. They need sunlight. read more

#44/2020 (Update) I'm not really crafty. I'm not really creative. I sometimes cook. I'm usually like to eat out. But during quarantine, when I'm not doing puzzles, I like to play with plants!!! PlantBar just sparks all kinds of joy for me. I don't know if it's their persuasive IG stories or how they create a sense of urgency when they tell us the plant truck will be here at 8 pm and we're going to be uploading new stock afterwards. I don't know what it is. It's like they do it on purpose and I always get suckered in. "I wish I knew how to quit ya" always comes to mind but I absolutely love the thrill of scoring my wishlist plants. Unicorns, if you will! During this pandemic, I've been able to take home at least 4 wishlist plants. But in total I've brought home close to 20 plants. Yes, I'm that crazy plant lady! PlantBar has always been so efficient when it comes to ordering plants online. They're able to send you an order confirmation text almost just as soon as you submit that payment button. Then they'll instruct you when to come to pickup! During COVID-19, though, you are instructed to call upon arriving letting them know which vehicle you're in and they will bring out your plant babies to ya. You don't even have to get out of your vehicle! It's that easy. Their website just got revamped and is brand new so it's streamlined and very easy to navigate. I would recommend you create an account just so you can keep track of your order history. Today I couldn't remember if I actually hit that payment button and I also did not receive a confirmation text so of course it sent me into panic mode. Borderline "I need toilet paper RIGHT NOW" panic mode! You don't understand. It's heartbreaking when you go to purchase your wishlist plant and there's a SOLD OUT thingy right over it. Anyway. I called them right up to make sure my order went through and sho' 'nuff - my order was there. Phew. They were so gracious enough to pull my order since they had me on the phone and have it ready for me to pick up versus waiting another 2 days. This is what I call exceptional customer service! My other fellow plant-mom friends joke and refer to PlantBar as the holy Mecca and that we make our weekly pilgrimage there like clockwork! We can't help it. It sparks joy. It's safer and more fun than going into a grocery store! I can't wait for this world to settle down and return to normal - a safer, less toxic normal! I would love to take a macrame class or a terrarium building class or even just to walk in and browse again. But until that happens, I will continue stalking, I mean, looking forward to their weekly restock to see what else I can sneak into my home and add to the mini jungle I have going on! read more

For being a new plant parent, and discovering this establishment, it was beyond my expectations. As soon as I entered I was offered some water or mimosas. My inner thoughts were going "ooohh fancy". There is a limit to how many are allowed in the store so be prepared to possibly wait. All of the plants are neatly arranged and accessible, so finding the one you're looking for won't be too hard and the staff are more than welcome to help you. The decorations and interior design is very welcoming and homey, so you can relax while you shop and not feel overwhelmed. I thought it was cool that they offer to repot your plants at the counter if you so choose. Overall, I am excited to come back and pick up more plants and support this local plant shop read more

I still love going to plant bar to pick out plants for my house. The staff is extremely friendly! Although I haven't created another terrarium (prices ranging from $10 - $40 I believe) I've gone to pick out a few plants for the pots I have at home. They have some really interesting choices- I recently purchased a "crystal succulent" for my girlfriend. I will be honest, I don't know it's real name but the folks there can point you in the right direction if you're interested! I also learned that they offer a reporting service for FREE, this is an incredible service that I have certainly taken advantage of! If you're in VB please support your local plant shop. They have air plants, succulents, larger house plants, and sooo many cute pots. All at affordable prices. read more

I came across this place on a plant page I follow. So I decided to look around their website and found three plants that I needed to have. I got a call the next day that one of the plants I wanted was badly damaged. So they offered to replace it. I asked if I could get another one around the same price. They told me that they can get me another one the same color and add a few extra plants. Why would I say no to that? I ordered 3 plants originally and got 3 additional babies!!! I was so excited. Lol. I will definitely order from here again. Hopefully when this whole pandemic is over I can actually stop by and take a look inside. I would love to expand my knowledge in plants. And also to build a terrarium. read more

This place is so cute! There's a wide array of plants there all for great prices. I love the build your own terrarium tables. There's different prices packages so it's super affordable. The best birthday party I have been to in a very long time. SETH and BRIE were the best employees helping us all I actually learned how to keep these things alive. The cost was $30 ad you can create your own awesome terrarium with help from the extremely knowledgeable staff. I can now keep my own air plants an succulents alive from what I learned here tonight. They do not serve food but the two complimentary glasses of wine were just enough. There was also a great cake. You can not go wrong here because everyone created some beautiful terrariums to take home. I definitely can not wait to get back in here to create more beautiful things. read more

This place is pretty darn amazing! My cousin does this thing where she goes on TikTok and watches someone's video about the area and we go to all the places that we're named. This place happened to be one of those names and I'm so happy we came in. First, I expected to see plants of all kind but it was way more than that. They have so many options of stuff to put the plants in and so many different colors. Just walking around, you'll find yourself lost in Absolute heaven. You never realize how Therapeutic taken care of plants can be until you've become a plant mom. I find myself always staring at the plant to see if it'll move or wiggle and I'll catch it. We ended up buying a Venus fly trap that we named asparagus and I absolutely love this plant. I love watching him drink all of his water like this plant is so thirsty but it's also very amazing to see this plant just be its absolute self because I've never owned a Venus fly trap ever so just watching this is amazing. read more

My friend wanted to come here for her birthday. after checking out the website, i decided to call and make a reservation as suggested. when we arrived, we were greeted and i told her i was the reservation. she told us where to start and we browsed a bit. the workers seemed like they were all rushing around, but we didnt mind waiting to be assisted. the woman that helped us was really nice, got us drinks, and helped us with anything we needed. i do think its a *little* overpriced but you're paying for convenience and the experience. it would probably be the same or more if you DIYed all of it yourself anyways. i highly recommend coming here to make your own terrariums! read more

The PlantBar is a lot of fun. It was so much more than I expected, the plant selection was endless. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but there was plenty of space to work. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for the evening class. Overall It was a great experience. After 6 they aren't allowed to use the parking lot so they offer complementary valet parking. After checking in they take your drink order and you wait at your designated table. The class was supposed to begin at 6:30 but it took awhile to start, we were all just standing around looking at one another. Finally the other did their introduction, instructions and we were left to start our projects. I would say it took roughly 30/45mins to finish once we got the hang of it. I wish it would have been more to it. It just felt like I could have done this at home for way less - it was literally just tying a piece of fishing rod to the plant and decorating the vase. I don't know if I would return but again it was a great experience just to try something new. read more

Love this place!! The staff is always so sweet and attentive. We came here last night for their Trio Workshop, where we made three airplant terrariums to our liking. Prior to walking in, our car was valeted. Once we walked in and checked in at the desk, they took our drink orders and let us know which table we'd be working at. We settled in to our table and our drinks arrived. As we waited for others to continue to arrive, I was able to shop around a bit of their stocked inventory. Sooo many pretty plants! I was even able to have a plant held behind the desk to ring out at the end of the night. Once everyone settled in, our host explained what we'd be doing, how we'd be doing it, and how to take care of the plants once we take them home. Very helpful and informative, especially to newer plant moms like myself. They even set out some examples for ideas! We were let loose on our terrariums and had so much fun chatting and laughing about how to decorate. The staff constantly came by to check on us, refill drinks, and restock any supplies we needed. Awesome experience and will surely be back! read more
