We love Anderson's. Like... an unreasonable amount. This is not a "run in for mulch and leave" place -- this is a wander, get distracted, and somehow leave with six things you didn't plan to buy kind of place. The plant selection is always solid, the staff actually know what they're talking about, and everything is laid out in a way that doesn't make you feel like you're in a horticulture obstacle course. Whether you're looking for houseplants, seasonal flowers, shrubs, or that one specific thing you saw on Pinterest and are now emotionally invested in, they usually have it. The real danger is the home and garden decor section. Pots, signs, random charming things you didn't know you needed, it's a trap, and I fall for it every time. Zero regrets. The summer events are genuinely fun, not cheesy or thrown together. The putt-putt is a hit every time and makes this an easy "bring the kids / bring visitors / kill an hour in a pleasant way" stop. It turns a garden center trip into an actual outing It's clean, well organized, and just... pleasant. No chaos, no weird vibes, no dying plants looking sad in the corner. It's one of those places where you can tell they actually care about what they're selling. If you're in VB and into plants even a little, this place is a no-brainer. We go out of our way to come here, and it's always worth it. Sage Kitchen is on site and is its own little slice of heaven if you're into pressed sandwiches and kettle chips but sometimes it's nice to just grab something on the go on a warm spring evening. The reviews of this place make it seem like it's a must visit and as someone who's not from the region, I had to go. The shop is very plentiful with everything from decor to flip flops to candles and more. I can only assume those people don't shop for house plants because the state of them is absurd. I've never seen a nursery with plants that look this bad and so many to boot. I understand with the weather changes and being in the dormant season now, plants don't always look their best. With that said, as a nursery it's their job to make them look as presentable as possible. The leaning snake plant is easily plucked from the planter, and it wasn't alone. So many plants were falling out of their planters, I couldn't believe it. Anderson, do better. read more

Such a fun, beautiful place to visit during the spring, summer and fall for all kinds of plants and decorations, for the whole family! If you have children, the outdoor playground and arcade are both really nice, you can watch your children while shopping or enjoying food and beverages. There are plenty of tables outside and inside. Kinda cool shopping for plants while sipping an adult beverage! We had a drink and tried the mac n cheese balls.....they were REALLY good.. came with 5 LARGE balls. Anderson's is a nice store. Its located in the Red Mill area on the way to Sandbridge. I went to go get food from The Sage Kitchen located inside. While waiting for my food we looked around. They sell clothing, shoes, accessories, plants, and more. The things they sell are nice but some things are high priced. They had some pretty Christmas displays. I enjoyed looking around. My mom and I came here to do some birthday shopping as they have scout products and I've been wanting a large tote. They have a nice selection of scout products and different patterns. I found a large tote I liked. I also got a pair of heart earrings and some leopard hey dude shoes. They have a large selection of men's and women's clothing as well as other trinkets and home decor. What surprised me was that they are a platinum dealer for traeger products. They had soooo many different products. I also ended up getting the traeger whiskey barrel pellets as well as the traeger apricot habanero hot sauce. Such a cute store. I will definitely be back for any future shopping needs. I've tried sage kitchen once and hated it so I don't recommend eating here. The store is awesome though. read more

They are a small store compared to the one in Newport News. Pretty good variety. Their prices are a bit much for the type of plants. I do go in frequently and just look around and they get some pretty neat plants in at times. They also sell lawn furniture. And OOOO the decorations for a backyard oasis are absolutely wonderful. They have tons of decorations. The inside of the store is great. They have tons of stuff. I could brows for hours. From beautiful clothing to garden pots. If you like plants you will love this place. And if you like to look pretty you will love the clothing section. I love both. At this location they also have a restaurant inside, a really cool eating area inside and out. They have a game room around back. They have a mini golf course and a little play area for the kids. And sometimes they have drive in movie night. I would give them a 5 star but every visit has not been great. Sometimes it feels like they are working through problems. Just seems like they could iron out a few wrinkles. But once they work it all out I will update and will give them on honest 5 star review because I really love this store. read more

OMG This is my happy place. My boyfriend and I have gotten into plants during the quarantine. He is more of the outdoor garden guy, and I'm a houseplant gal. We spent over two hours at Anderson's the other day and only left because we were ready for a nap and excited to take our new plant friends home. You've got your nursery/greenhouse/whatever you want to call it. They have a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants. The prices all looked at a reasonable price point based on my other plant shopping experiences. There were some that I could get cheaper online, but that's putting the plant at risk with the shipping process. They have a garden of pots arranged by color. So many different options! We got hungry in the middle of all our shopping and enjoyed a delicious meal at Sage Kitchen. We will return for just the food alone! I didn't spend too much time browsing the inside, feeling a little wary inside any building too long with COVID-19 happening, but they seemed to have a large variety of decorations and apparel. I've seen numerous people complain or at least mention the lack of customer service. So I'll confirm that our visit was "unguided." However, we didn't need any assistance, and I saw a few people we could have asked if we needed some. Not a big deal for us. I love that you can enjoy a drink while you browse- the blackberry iced green tea was my beverage of choice. I know I'll be back- like I said- this is my new happy place. read more

Throughout the covid situation they have remained well inform with policies to keep shoppers safe. They have provided curbside pick up, mask requirements and social distancing. I'm a huge fan of Anderson's. They have high quality plants and landscape materials as well as neat knick-knacks inside for picnics, home decor and women's clothing and jewelry. They have some classy women's clothing and shoes as well as purses, jewelry, keychains, hats, sunglasses, etc. They sell name brand picnic items and have some really nice aquatic themed home decor (think nets and mermaids and fish and buoys). The outside garden area is gorgeous with well-maintained grounds and lots of plants. They will do landscape consultations where they help you on-site or they will schedule to come to your home and come up with a plan for you. The restaurant - which I've reviewed separately is fabulous with fresh and healthy options and they have live music most weekends during the summer outside on their stunning and kid-friendly patio. I'm happy this is an addition to the area. It's awesome. read more

I love this place! It was our first time, we came for the outdoor drive in movie they are hosting through December. It was my first time in the store, it was magical-completely decked out in Christmas on one part of the store. If you need decorations or unique Christmas gifts, this is the place! The other side of the store is more like a mini fashion boutique, clothes, shoes, purses, accessories, jewelry! I loved it all. Sage Kitchen restaurant is inside Andersons as well. They have a kids menu too! There is seating to dine in, keep in mind they are following social distancing precautions so seating is spread out. Staff and customers are to wear masks. Bathrooms are exceptionally clean. Towards the back of the store it is like a mini nursery , plants and flowers galore! It smelled amazingly clean and fresh even through my mask! If you need a plant of any kind, this is the place to go! They have lots of outdoor decor for sale as well, I loved it all. Anderson's offers online ordering as well. As for the movie drive in, this is a great way to have a family fun night with your kids while social distancing! We watched Frozen, my toddler loved it! They have a huge screen and you have the option of viewing the movie from inside you vehicle or watching it from your truck bed, don't forget blankets to make it extra cozy on cold nights. We ordered the speaker for an extra ten bucks, glad we did, it made the experience even better! You can either order from Sage Kitchen inside of Andersons or they have several food trucks lined up in the parking lot. We tried out Heavenly Kettle Corn and had the delicious caramel corn and the grilled cheese sandwich truck, YUM! Sage Kitchen also sells an assortment of candy on movie nights. We will be returning again in December and anticipate trying out Sage kitchen! Oh and reserve your tickets ahead of time online, they sell out fast! read more

We had reservations for a Sunday dinner at Sage so of course we were able to look around and see all the cool and eclectics for sale at Anderson's. Inside the greenhouse I saw so many types of plants and flowers. We ended up buying a $9 Venus fly trap for our son. They had planters, seeds, birdhouses and other yard decor. They also had apparel for men and women. I saw that they had Christmas trees for sale. It was a 60% sale but I noticed they had trees in the $700's and up. That was absolutely absurd! Nursery, home store, restaurant AND bar....Holy cow this place has it all. Even margaritas My favorite nursery thus far. Not only are the employees extremely knowledgeable they are friendly, and helpful. This nursery has a large variety of flora, pots, planters, gardening supplies and seeds. It will be hard to make up your mind once you start wandering the isles! I purchased four hibiscus plants (two Hollywood's a yellow and a fiesta) they're so beautiful! And the cost wasn't bad approx $35 each for them. I also bought two Carolina jasmine plants and two large planters for them. I'm extremely happy with the products and with the customer service. I didn't get a chance to eat or drink here yet...but once the whole CV19 scare ends, I plan to make this place a "must go to" for a meal and a libation. read more

This is the best garden center I have ever been to. That is a quote from my Nephew whom I just shared a bourbon flight with. At this garden center not only can you get bourbon flights and garden plants, but you can also get funny kitchen towels and funky clothes. I have gone there three days during my weeks long vacation at Sandbridge and have had a delicious lunch there every time. The mini golf is beautiful. There are flowers everywhere and the course is beautifully landscaped. The arcade is small, but has some fun games. I will definitely go back on my next vacation to Sandbridge. read more

In relation to sage kitchen located inside Andersons we were beyond disappointed. Waited an hour for 2 salads when it was not busy. The salads were disappointing, very bland and nothing special. The kids play area was an absolute mud pit and had rusty nails in their "mulch". I only gave it 2 stars because of the nicely decorated interior. We most definitely will not be returning. read more

I try to support local in all aspects, and that includes plant shopping. I like Anderson's wide variety to select from, that I know I can't get at large store such as Home Depot or Lowes. The customer service here is great. Upon checkout the employee complimented me on the plant selections and gave more information on caring for it. What an awesome new spot! If you love plants, gardening, decorating your home in a nautical/beach-y theme, need gifts, and some one-of-a-kind items, you will be a fan of Anderson's! It's in the further and deeper Nimmo/Sandbridge area, so reception isn't the best. It's hard to miss once you're in the area though. Our reason for even coming here and becoming so acquainted with the place, was our attempt (key word: ATTEMPT) to dine at Sage Kitchen which is inside/attached to Anderson's, but that didn't happen and that will be another story & review, I'm sure. (We waited & walked around for 40 mins and still didn't get buzzed.) The restaurant, Sage Kitchen, is in the back. I still look forward to trying them out soon. Anyway, back to Anderson's. They have a beautiful greenhouse sure to make anyone with (even without) a green thumb happy! Plants and flowers outside the place, to the left, and out back! There's also a large section of gardening items and tools, and outdoor decor and seating. Oh and birdhouses, loved their birdhouse selection. There's a section dedicated to women's clothing; definitely higher, boutique priced clothes, purses, and accessories. A few affordable things, but for the most part, a bit pricy. There are some men's (and unisex) t-shirts, hoodies also, and flip-flops, hats, what have you. Novelty beer cozies (koozies), socks, lots of fun and funky items. There's kitchenware - the usual and unusual. You have to look for a line called "Twisted Wares" - they have some hilarious sayings on their products. So many decorative and functional towels, kitchen towels, and products. A big part of the store is their nautical, beach-y, and Virginia Beach themed items; there's a BIG section of it and you'll see it throughout the store. Anchors, starfish, fish, decorative lifesavers, & lighthouses. There's a big, Turquoise colored Christmas tree decorated with beach ornaments, so pretty and fun. There's even a section for kids - full of fun, and even some educational toys. I already saw a couple of items that I know I will definitely get for my niece for her upcoming birthday. Really, in simplest terms, this place is like a big, combined home & garden store, TJ Maxx/Homegoods, Kirkland's, Hobby Lobby, Francesca's, & Toys-r-Us. It was our first time here & we came here for their restaurant, Sage Kitchen. We decided to eat in their "green room". It was super Pinteresty & an awesome setting to eat in. They also had an outside area which has activities for the kids. I ordered the pick 2, chicken salad sandwich & tomato soup. The chicken salad sandwich was in a crispy crescent which was neat, and the chicken part was mouth watering. Tomato soup was good it came with crackers. My boyfriend ordered Lamb burger with black bean pasta & sweet potato fries. He loved the burger and pasta! Our son, got he kids meal & ordered chicken fingers and fries. The chicken fingers weren't cheap looking (like frozen kind) it actually looked really crispy & not dry at all. The fries were cute too, they were thinly sliced & my son loved it! This review is for the drive-in movies at the Virginia Beach location. The first time we went we were charged twice for our drinks so I ended up paying $13 for two cans of coke. I sent email right away and asked for a refund but was ignored. We went again last night and had the lot attendants talk to us rudely and talked badly about other customers in front of us. We also heard them loudly teasing the person who was checking in cars as they entered the lot. I shared this feedback but was ignored again. To top things off, they turned on the crazy bright parking lot lights before the movie ended. We won't be back. read more

Great selection, terrible customer service. This store has a little bit of everything if you are shopping for a unique gift or fun decor. Unfortunately it also has very unfriendly employees who don't know anything about customer service. In a world dominated by amazon, a boutique shop with slightly higher prices than their online competitors needs to differentiate themselves through service. First rule of customer service, greet people when they walk in. Second rule be present not pesky. Third, just be nice. Clusters of employees gossiping, goofing and otherwise uninterested in working will kill sales every time. I would have spent more money if someone was around to talk to. My wife on occasion ask me to go out shopping and when visiting your store recently, your Christmas decor was evident throughout your establishment. Nice place. Clean, well organized, and I could tell all especially the kids looking about. What was disturbing as I was browsing through some of your items, notice that there was a pair of socks that had the F bomb printed so all could see. Now in view of your general guideline in writing this review, appears to be contradicting your guidelines. I approached the on-site manager about why this particular apparel was placed within your store and he was embarrassed that the subject was broached. I have to inform you that this bad apple and the display it presents in a public place, should be removed . If you need such items to boost your sales, you have lost me as a future customer. read more

Be very careful when you buy plants from Anderson. We bought $100 worth and 80% of them died within three days. Then I find they do not offer a warranty. Out most of my money when to Home Depot bought the same flowers for about half the price with a one year warranty and they are doing fine. I will never buy from Anderson again read more
