Awesome ass place. Novelty as heck, a store i regularly give my money too. Real hippy and cool.

I purchased a tie die shirt on 8/1/23 and did not ask for a receipt and paid cash. It was a large and too small when I brought it home and tried it on. I took it back a couple days later (8/3/23) with the original tags on it and asked to exchange it. The two girls at the counter said to find another shirt with the exact same price. I found another shirt but it was $1.00 more. I told them I would pay the difference and they both told me absolutely not. The new shirt MUST be the exact same price Note that there were many other shoppers in the store but these two girls behind the counter, refused to come out from behind the counter and assist and assist anyone in the store. Their personal conversations from behind the counter were more important than assisting store customers. I ended up leaving with my original new shirt that was too small. Lesson learned - expect terrible service if two girls are working behind the counter and get a receipt. I do not recommend shopping there unless you enjoy absolutely terrible service. read more

Very cool artwork outside and inside. Wide variety of tee shirts but everything fits very small and snug, even an XL tank was tight and for t shirts there were barely any size large. Wide variety of sage and purses. Fair prices, cool and different store read more

Love this shop! They have everything a dead lovin' heart desires. The staff is chill as could be expected and allows you to roam the place without being in your space on the constant, just chill as can be really. There's much to see, and so it takes time if you really scope it out. I made quite a massive purchase, so it was better they weren't too attentive, in a way. All I really desire is acknowledgment when I enter and answers when I have a questions, so it was a win win, I got to thoroughly shop without being hassled and they got a huge sale. Go here and get your duds, they have an amazing selection, I will return when in town on my travels read more

Cute store a few blocks from boardwalk. They have an assortment of items which I suppose includes music (see name). I saw incense, Hats. Accessories. Jewelry. Posters. I didn't love the store but it smelled good and reminded me of stores of yesteryear. Wish they had more of a focus but it was a mush mash of items you may or may not need. read more

Always love this place and their great selection of clothing, art, and random awesomeness.

I came to Virginia Beach a few years back and remembered this store. I came back during my trip this year, and it is still my favorite store here, aside from its sister location across the street. Cute clothes, good music, cute jewelry, and more! read more

I am not the usual customer for this place, but prices are reasonable and the staff is super friendly. Great selection and of clothes, art, and all sorts of stuff read more

The staff of this place went far out of their way to make sure I was comfortable during a very unfortunate experience. I bought a Jimi Hendrix hat because I thought I owed them something for their hospitality. It's a cool hat and I wear it all the time now to remind me of that strange afternoon. It was sometime in March. I'd bought a hot dog and a Dr. Pepper from the 7-Eleven on 17th Street. I ate and drank as I walked down the sidewalk and right in front of Half Moon - something happened. I have a theory about why some hot dogs agree with your stomach and some don't, but I won't go into it. It mainly deals with physics and pork farm sanitation. Anyway, this hot dog was NOT agreeing with me. I quickly finished it, but immediately regretted it. My stomach rumbled with a bewildered groan and I knew I had to get to a bathroom soon. I started to get dizzy and my body let out a loud bubbling sound. I did the "clenched cheek jog" right into Half Moon. The person behind the counter must have knew that something was wrong with me, because he pointed right to the bathroom. I tried to say "Thanks", but all that came out was a wet burp. I was in there for a good long time. I think they played a complete Grateful Dead concert recording. Thank goodness for the loud, numerous guitar solos. Upon emerging, I suggested that they should burn some incense in the bathroom. The clerk grabbed about 30 sticks and lit all of them. Somebody, I guess the manager or a customer, suggested I lie on the couch for a while and relax. I did and no sooner than 5 minutes into relaxing - I had to rush back into the bathroom! I stayed for the rest of the day, going from couch to bathroom. Back and forth and back and forth. The staff and customers were all so friendly when I explained what happened. Many shared similar experiences. We all agreed that 7-Eleven should not be in the hot dog business! They were closing, so I had to go. I will definitely be back this summer to buy some sort of bongo drum. read more

Here is my tribute to a fallen institution in Virginia Beach: Half Moon. A former Pacific Avenue monument, Half Moon was more than just a store serving the fashionable hippie, it was a staple of Virginia Beach culture. Half Moon sold clothing, music, insense, waterpipes, jewelry, posters and more, all for hippie/rasta/naturalist/deadhead set. From patchwork skirts, to dreadlock caps, to the latest boxset of live Phish recordings, Half Moon's modest two story structure sold it all. By hippies and for hippies, Half Moon was always laid back. The staff always consisted of a veteran of the traveling music festival scene, and dreadlocks were the norm for all races and colors. The music was always rocking and there was always a friendly face hanging out on the porch or chatting inside. My favorite thing though, was the hours of operation: Open about 11ish and close around 8 ish, maybe. Oh Half Moon, how I will miss you. read more

Love this spot! Also they have a fabulous food truck in parking lot, Jaceys Deli! Great stop for music, clothes & grub read more

absolutely AMAZING shop, especially if youre into grateful dead. every time i go to va beach i always have to make a trip here. theres such good finds! from clothes to jewelry, pins, bags, stickers, posters, records, tapestries- the list goes on. a lot of what you find there is hand made, hence some of the pricier finds. but none the less its all soooo worth it. definitely a place to stop by if youre in the area! read more

I don't know how i missed reviewing my favorite Virginia beach shop. For the past several years i have shopped here for little whatnots each time i go to the shore. I picked up some jewelry and some grateful dead items each visit. There is always so much to look at and it's all unique to their shop. Nobody else on the oceanfront has such awesome hippie merch. The people hanging there are always friendly which is such a plus when you're on vacation. They have it all. Clothes, accessories, mugs, home fragrance, hippie decor....anything you can imagine. And good prices too! I heard they burned out in a fire a few years ago and i am sure glad they came back and rebuilt. I can't imagine the each without a visit to this shop. Walk in happy. Walk out happy. Worth a visit! read more

I just had to go in here, this hippy shop is painted all fun and it had my favorite vehicle, a VW camper bus, out front. If you can't handle the smell of LOTS of incense, don't go in here. Inside was not just music (records), but clothes, jewelry and fun gifts like silly key chains and socks. The workers seemed really miserable and will barely acknowledge you, but I enjoyed myself and bought a few items anyway. read more

Loved this place. Very friendly staff, nice and clean store. Love the artwork on the outside of the building, very creative. Great prices. The only thing I don't understand is why none of the stores in the VA Beach area don't carry any bowls, pipes, bongs anymore? But this place rocks!! Definitely worth a look! Thank you! read more

It's a cool hippie shop, but don't go there looking for albums. Waste of time in that department. The selection of records is Goodwill quality at best. read more

Great shop with lots of oldie but goodie items, tie dye, posters, jewelry, bumper stickers, novelty 1960 era festival stuff. (replicas) Although, I have to say when I was there, I doubt any one including the cashier ever saw the Dead, the Doors or Janis alive at a real show. Great vibe, fun to look around and helpful staff. A must hang if in the area and need to replace any concert tees or posters. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! read more

AWESOME shop! Very, very cool. They have the best Grateful Dead merch. They have bad a$$ T-shirt's, sweatshirts, tapestries, jewelry, posters, and the list goes on. If you're a hippie or a Dead fan I definitely recommend stopping at this shop. If you don't like incense than I recommend maybe not going inside but the artwork on the sides of the building is phenomenal. The workers were great! Awesome shop with great vibes! read more

I RAVE about this store to all I meet. Hands down the best hippie shop still left on the earth. Staff isn't too ecstatic but who cares when they have so much to focus on in store. While it's not a place to go to for records per say, the Grateful Dead and general hippie merch compensates for the lack of by far. read more

Horrible horrible service. Not one single staff member greeted a guest who walked in the door, no one offered to help you find anything. They were too preoccupied talking about their own personal business in front of customers, while ringing them up, it was completely inappropriate and unprofessional! Went to buy a scarf and the cashier was incredible rude. NEVER ever going back in this store and I would not recommend it to a single person. read more

I recently been a victim of a thief taking my phone while trying on accessories. The two other costumers where, hovering around as I try of the accessories that sparked my interest. It was only 4 people in this tiny store. As the cashier bring my item to the front for check out, I realize my phone was not where it was, once I turned my head back to get it. After I asked for a manager to pull up camera tape, the other couple they turned back as they are checking out and waiting for us to leave, they turned around and passed me my phone.. read more

"...Are you kind" yes they are, as a married couple with hippie tendencies , this was and is a great place to take my daughter, nieces and nephews to help introduce them to what their odd uncle and aunt are into. They staff are awesome! Very welcoming, very nice and the shop has a great selection. They have the standard Grateful Dead, Phish, and other jam band merch. For stickers and patches, ask who ever is at the register and they have them in notebooks. Great used vinyl section too! They have nice djembes, and carry many items that you might have seen in a Gypsy Rose catalogue, but now better, you can see and buy them in person, plus give patronage to a local business! A side note and huge thank you, as I have been to many shops of this theme, and a concern is always are the staff going to be noticeably high, and or will the shop smell of weed. I personally do not partake, but have no issues if you do, but as someone with a young daughter and as stated my nieces and nephews in tow, it is nice to enter a shop without having to explain that to them. They also have a stage outside with open mic and jams. Love the vibes there! Oooo and they have a shop dog sometimes! read more
