I recently attended a team-building event at Plant House and had such an enjoyable time! Located in Hilltop, this location offers plenty of private lot parking and is close to many restaurants if you want to make a full morning/evening with friends or family. The front of the store is primarily retail - lots of cool gift ideas, planters, seeds and, of course, established plants. The back is where the fun happens - several tables set up with everything you need to design your own terrariums. Before selecting our vessels and plants, we were given brief instructions. You don't have to worry about remembering everything because you will be able to access all of the instructions online to reference at a later date. Depending on your selection - succulents or air plants - your care instructions will vary. We were allowed to choose three air plants or two succulents to craft our terrariums. On each table were items to decorate. Pricing will depend on the vase or vessel you choose. I've done this one time previously and I thought the prices were pretty comparable and not overly expensive. I ended up selecting air plants and also took home a discounted potted plant and planter. This is such a beautiful store to browse in, even if you don't want to craft a plant-masterpiece. The staff was very helpful - even assisting with packaging our plants baby so they could travel home safely. I loved this experience and plan to return soon! read more

I had such a great time at the plant-making event that I couldn't resist signing up for the candle-making one too. The candle event was definitely fun and a cool experience, but l'll be honest--it wasn't quite as exciting as the plant one. It was quicker, too, so I didn't get to fully immerse myself in the zen of crafting. That said, I still had a good time and would definitely do it again. Mable the Philo "said" to me, Hey I'm not really feeling at my best. Immediately I called my daughter, Tal also a plant mom. Talha visited here a few months ago adding to her collection( as I continue to propagate for her). hummmm. She was happy with the service and knowledge the staff has. So I packed Mable up with 2 of her friends and took the drive. Needless to say now I'm back at 120/80 and Mable, Fire and Curly as all doing GREAT. A quick diagnosis by knowledgeable Raye and repot. I had no idea places like this existed!! I was searching for things to do indoors since it was raining and thankfully stumbled upon the planthouse. I made a same day reservation for terrarium building on Eventbrite. Note: the deposit is $25 and is all inclusive with the materials for the terrariums. For any upgrades, you pay the difference. The location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. When I walked into the planthouse, I felt like I was in a jungle. It was magical! Me and my friend checked in, were given a little tour and instructions for the terrarium building. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had so many questions! There were plenty of plants to choose from along with a huge selection of materials available to build the terrariums. It was so much fun and something I've never done before. Love love this concept! I've become a lover of house plants over the past couple years and have been wanting to visit the PlantHouse since they've opened. As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the store was and I absolutely loved the aroma of fresh plants. They have a large variety of different plants (all of the plants were healthy and very well taken care of) and plant holders and the prices weren't bad at all. The terrarium area was very cool as well and they have a large amount of terrarium plants and vases to choose from to make your own, unique terrarium. After looking throughout the whole store, I decided on the Spider Plant and I am so happy with my decision but it would have been nice if an associate asked if I needed any assistance. Unfortunately, no one approached me. Either way, I absolutely love this store and will probably be returning to take a terrarium workshop class or even purchase another plant baby. read more

I came along for the ride with an actual plant mom, and was a bit overwhelmed with the plant selection. It is a cool spot, and I almost got a plant (although I am not ready to commit, so I ended up not purchasing anything. I'm gonna sleep on it and go back when my friend returns, if I decided to become a plant mom. Everyone there was super chill, basically was there to help when help was requested. They also have a cool terrarium setup area where you can go individually or have a party. When I decide to fully commit to taking care of an actual plant, I'll be back. Loving my new plant and planter from the Planthouse (see picture). I've been in twice now and had the best experience both times. During my most recent visit there was a walk in terrarium class happening and although I didn't participate it looked like so much fun and everyone's project came out sooo cute! The concept is to pick your plant and planter separately and on checkout your plant is replanted to your container of choice. Such a neat idea! They also have a good selection of plant accessories...watering cans, stands, books etc. The planter options and plant varieties are considerable and the folks that work there are incredibly knowledgeable. They will let you know how to care for your selection.... how much light it needs, how much water, etc and answer absolutely any questions you have. I have two cats at home and when I asked for help selecting a feline friendly plant I was given a tour around the store with instruction on which was toxic and which was tolerable. My personal choice was again confirmed "cat friendly" at checkout and I walked out with a new green baby confidant that if one of my critters decided to try a bite I wouldn't end up at the vet. So all this said, the prices are a bit high but the level service and variety of choices justify the cost. Whether you're a newbie to the plant world or have been enjoying plants in your home for years I highly recommend stopping in for a visit. read more

We took my mother in law here this past weekend for a late Mother's Day and birthday gift since we live far from her. She had a great time making her DIY terrarium and even got a new plant. I also enjoyed making a cactus terrarium as I don't have one yet! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The store is also much bigger than the one near us so it didn't feel cramped when we were working on our terrariums. If I had bought those same rare plants at my local nursery it would have been double the price and not near as good quality, not to mention it's sooo beautiful in there. I loooveeeeee the new location in Hilltop off Laskin Road. It's a big and beautiful place bustling with friendly staff and tons of plant-themed goodies. I was a fan of Plantbar when they were at the Holly Road location and have done several yoga classes there. I have followed them on Instagram for updates so I was excited to see this new step for them. I stopped in during the week one day last week to avoid the opening weekend crowds and was not disappointed, several friendly staff asked me if I had questions or needed help and were happy to make plant suggestions and offer advice while I browsed. There is a beautiful and large bar in the center which, in non-Covid times, is going to have cheese and snacks and you will be able to purchase drinks to enjoy while you browse, how cute. In the back right of the store there are many terrarium tables where you can come in (with or without an appointment) and make a terrarium to take home with you. They also are going to have set classes and days so you can follow them and browse their website for that. (You can also book them for a large private party). All in all - I ended up getting three new plant babies to add to my collection and a new, larger pot for my Hoya Krimson Queen which has outgrown it's pot from last summer. I love the larger store with more room for plants, beautiful pottery, more terrariums and more staff! They have some cute gifts and candles and books and other items for sale as well throughout the store. Free potting with any purchase of a plant or the pot. If you purchase a plant you can bring your own pot and they will pot it for you before you leave. read more

This was my first time experiencing plant house. The event was educational and fun. I learned a little more about succulents and cactuses and how little water they need to survive. Building the terrarium was something new for me and I enjoyed myself and the people I shared a workspace with. You can also buy bigger plants after the workshop is over, which I did. read more

So this year has been one for the books. Quarantine turned me into a plant mama. I am not mad about that! I love my plants. Several of my plants have been from plant bar. At first I was ordering them online and picking up curbside. Staff was always wearing masks and were always so kind. I couldn't wait to get my new plants because they were in great condition and were so beautiful. Most of the time the prices were fair. Recently they have opened up the store for guest to shop around. I have gone a couple of times and was so pleased with the atmosphere and the customer service. Again, staff is wearing masks at all time and customers are required to wear them as well. I love their concern for safety. Hey plant daddies + mommies, this is the place to be to pick up your new kiddies! This location is located in the Hilltop shops by the Melting Pot. The service from entry to exit was marvelous. The music was on and jumping and the plants were aplenty. I loved the curated mix of books, diffusers, candles, and pottery. I needed a good CD/vinyl section and some good tees added to the mix! The terrarium area was neatly tended to along with the displays. The lighting was beautiful in there and we were able to get a nice succulent baby we named Ceasar to put in the kitchen. Great date night option. My wife and I were in for a jellyfish terrarium class and had a lot of fun. They offered a couple different sizes, a variety of options for what to put in the terrarium (at no additional cost). The employees were helpful and pleasant. I think it was a great price for each one. The only down side is that each person had to have their own so we had to buy 2 of them. But they turn out great and I would recommend them for couples or group night. read more

Never thought I would say this but my fave spot to visit while on vacation on Virginia Beach. What a cool concept, BYO terrarium and have a cocktail from their bar while creating your tiny garden. BRILLIANT! Walk ins are welcome.(highly recommend you make an appointment). Since I came in on a weekday afternoon. they were slow so we was able to create my own. They offer workshops online which you can register. Depending on which glass you choose, there are directions on how many succulents and air plants you choose. I opted for the $50 terrain glass which includes 3 succulents or 4 air plants. I did 2 cactus and 1 succulent. Don't worry, they guide you through the process and make sure you know how to take care of them after the creation. While the magic is going on, I was able to have a mimosa from their bar and my Mr got a local craft beer as well. At the end, I finished my terrarium in 30 minutes. They gave us an hour but I know exactly how I wanted to design it. They were impressed and gave me compliments. FYI, besides the terrarium, they do sell house plants from vining, cactus, succulents, exotic, Hoyas, Air plants and more. Need more? They have pots, accessories for planting, potting soil, candles, and many more. This experience was therapeutic and relaxing. Wish they had one of these in Cincinnati, OH. A bunch of us gals got together for our annual Galentine's date and decided to come here and do a workshop making a Terrarium. We had to sign up online (IG) which was only $25. As we arrived, they had a wall of boxes with our names on it with the glass vase. We grabbed our box and found a space. There were a lot of stragglers so the host pushed it to about 20 minutes to start. They explained what we could choose in the back (4 air plants) and explained all the sand, rock, dirt, ferns, twigs, etc on the tables for us to put in our terrarium. We had so much fun! They had a bar in the middle of the store and they had drinks and snacks for purchase. I couldn't have been more impressed with their selection of plants. The organization of their workshops was top-notch. I just wish they were closer. I can't wait to come back! read more

I took my mom here, since she's a huge plant lady. She was very excited about some of the plants they carried and ended up buying a "snake" plant that's evidently fussy. She found a lovely matching pot too. I chose an easier plant, and spent a long time finding a pot. Many of their pots were too shallow or didnt have a hole in the bottom for drainage. We had a nice time and it didn't take long to go through the store and see what's to offer. The difficult part for me was that the plants didn't have the little tag stuck in the soil that told you how much light and water the particular plant needs. The staff member told me and said the was a link with info on the electronic receipt, there wasn't. They have big tables where you can evidently do stuff, but not when they're closed because a workshop is starting soon. We looked at the workshop lists, and there are a lot! All kinds of stuff from jellyfish air plants to bonsai and carnivorous plants. They call the tables area like "terrarium land" or something and we were told it was closed by a staff member. It's not very intuitive to know "terrarium land" = the tables area, unless you are familiar with the store. If we ask you how the place works and say this is our first time, maybe just say the tables are closed right now. Different staff member potted our plants and was super helpful and knowledgeable! read more

I attended the Galentine's event with my daughter and friend on 2/8/25. We had a great time but the water bottle my friend purchased me did not work. I spoke with the staff at the front who advised if the water bottle did not work, just return it to be exchanged, no worries. Now when I finally got around to making the 45 minute drive to exchange it, I was told a receipt was needed. Even though the water bottle was distinct in color (purple with "plant house" printed on it) Never were we told to save a receipt for returns. My friend advised she "opted out" of a receipt. Seems petty, I feel management should address this issue to please customers more. Its not like I tried returning a $200 plant, it was a $10 water bottle. If you go here DO NOT BUY THEIR WATER BOTTLES! Better off buying on Amazon so you can return it. Oh an their email address on their website is WRONG. read more

As much as I love plants I can say that I am pleased to have the opportunity to come here! It was clean and it was fun. I have no issues with the business itself. My issue was with Ray or Rae or however it's spelled. Upon walking through the door she was RUDE as hell and I didn't appreciate that. Her greeting was trash and the way she was being a smart ass was uncalled for. Now me being the woman I am I kept it cute and classy, smiled and let her stay miserable to whatever she was going through. I will visit this place again but I hope I don't have to deal with her nasty attitude because mine won't be so great the next time, maybe!! I went with some friends the first time for a ladies night to get out and it was a lot of fun. It was really chill and go at your own pace. We went on a "tour choice" class night and I chose to do a succulent bowl. It was so hard to choose because of all the different bowl and succulent varieties. I ended up putting a succulent in a little dish I brought as well. The next day I convinced my husband to come back with me because he loves gardening as much as I do and I wanted to show him. He ended up doing a succulent bowl too and I took the opportunity to do a air plant one. I also snagged a succulent I saw the night before and didn't buy. We brought the kids the second day with iPads to quietly entertain them while we enjoyed ourselves and the staff didn't mind because they weren't climbing shelves or getting into things. I really like the atmosphere, and the staff and can't wait to go back. I still need a square moss hanging, a giant pitcher plant with the plant sippy cup, and ok there's a lot i need ok? read more

The workshop was $25 for which included 4 air plants, the small round container to decorate and hold the air plants. You can also purchase a small charcuterie for $12.00. Be aware they no longer sale alcohol but that didn't dampen the fun. There are several different plant options and cute and additional items for purchase. This business is incredibly trustworthy and customer oriented. I first went here to attend one of their terrarium workshops. It was super crowded the day I went, but the staff made us feel so welcome and got us settled as quickly as they could! They provide all the plant building materials necessary to build a beautiful terrarium as well as mimosas :) Since then, I've become a frequent plant buyer here as well! What I love about PlantBar is their incredible taste at selecting plants. They always choose a wide and unique selection for every shipment. During the COVID-19 crisis, they built a fabulous website! It's super user friendly and intuitive. You can simply order and then drive through to pick up your new plant babies. The staff here is so kind and always prompt in their responses. This place was so beautiful and fun. They are located right near the ocean front in a small shopping center. I heard one of the staff members mention that they will closing soon to relocate to a bigger location. There are TONS of plants to choose from and you can make your own terrarium. My friends and I had a blast picking our options and decorating them once we were back home as they aren't allowing in store decorating at this time.
