I met there with some friends for lunch. It was my first time at a Plantation Cafe & Deli. I believe there are others in the area as well. Danielle was our waitress and did a great job with taking orders and making sure we all had separate checks. Parking can be a bit challenging since there are only several parking spots in front, but you can also find parking on the side road and near the other parking lot areas. They have a drive through as well. They were somewhat busy when I was there around 11:30, but plenty of tables for customers including an outside porch area. For lunch, I ordered the Soup and Half Sandwich for $10. I substituted the She Crab soup for an extra $2.95 which was very much worth it. For the half sandwich I had the ham and swiss cheese on sourdough bread. Very thick ham and the bread was toasted. It was excellent. I highly recommend the She Crab Soup. It's worth it. read more

I had 3 eggs over easy, hash browns, two sausage links, hash browns and rye toast. My better half had some sort of egg, cheese and sausage sandwich with fruit. The eggs were what you'd expect, the hash browns were god awful, luck warm at best and very soggy with no flavor at all, the bacon was junk, the sausage links were ok. No jam or butter for the toast and dry as all get out. Her sandwich was just as bad, looked like they sprinkled 5 shreds of cheese on it and the sausage patty was soooo small. The fruit was not edible at all. The service was decent and that's why I'm giving two stars and not one. This is a one and done for us. Way better options in the area for better food and price. I am a frequent customer of the Plantation Cafe. The food and service is always outstanding. I have been to every one of the cafe locations and the Bluffton location is by far the best. The service is outstanding every time I eat there. Sylvia, Danielle, and Denise all go above and beyond when it comes to providing you with good food and good conversation. Excellent service, food was good, nice decor, excellent breakfast place, have been here every time when I'm in the area.

The food was really good and well plated. The portions were generous. The table of 9 was accommodated quickly by moving two 4 tops together and adding a chair. I believe our server Shellette was having a bad day, just ate something bad or was just not thrilled about a table of 9 ladies. Food was delivered by others quickly. Others had a pot of coffee on their table so we had to ask for one since we had 5 coffee drinkers and she didn't bring one. I hope her day for better after we left. read more

This was once a good place for breakfast. However, my wife and I stopped by this morning and let's just say we won't be back. We had a bad storm here this morning so when we got there there were very few customers. Yet we sat for 10 minutes at a dirty table waiting to be greeted. I ask the woman to wipe the table off and got attitude. We then ordered some food, a BLT, eggs and sausage, hash browns and grits. The food was bland. Grits were thin and watery. We asked for ketchup and hot sauce. The ketchup was partially open with some black moldy looking ring around the top. I had a stomach ache all afternoon. There are to many good restaurants in the area to waste your time and money on this one. read more

I have been to Plantation Cafe several times with my family. It is always an enjoyable meal. We are seated quickly, the service is attentive. They don't rush you, and come around frequently to refill your coffee. The restaurant is clean with an open atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

I'm giving an extra star due to Covid. I was very excited to get the crab cake sandwich because d the picture looked very enticing. But mine was just a big blob. I couldn't pick it up because it wasn't holding is shape. I think maybe it has a bunch of mayo in it? The waitress was nice but never refilled my water glass, and all I had was water. I ran out about halfway through my meal. She also kept pulling her mask down to talk even though we could hear her plainly with it on. I might give them another chance but who knows. read more

So Waffle House is better by far. The breakfast food left a lot to be desired. The pancakes had a tart after taste that was terrible along with the hash-browns not having any flavor. The service was okay but last time we went the service was awful and it took us twice as long to eat. Overall service is a 3/10. The ambiance of all the waiters starting at you to finish your food? 2/10. I was not joking when I said Waffle House has better food and ambiance and service. This seems to be the newest location for this mini chain. Two others are located on Hilton Head Island. Their motto is the "best breakfast in the Low Country". Well it was 2 pm so more like late lunch when we visited. Nice strip mall type ambiance with plenty of seating inside and out. The menu was large and the breakfast selection huge. But they only offered some basics if you wanted breakfast items during lunch, so my partner ordered fried eggs, Canadian bacon, a bagel, and hash browns. From the photo you can clearly see the spuds were deep golden brown and unfortunately greasy and way overcooked. If the kitchen staff can't master an ubiquitous breakfast item like hash browns, then they better not misrepresent with claims about being the best. My salad was big enough to feed a crowd. Plenty of ingredients including green apple, jumbo walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, raisins, pita squares and fried chicken. The lime honey dressing was the perfect choice for the greens. Unfortunately, though the poultry was plentiful, it tasted like a frozen Tyson breast from a bag. Everything else tasted fresh and overall the salad was well executed. Would we be back? Maybe to test their breakfast offerings again when the full menu is available, but not for lunch. There are better choices in Bluffton for that. read more

Clean nice respectable place. We were able to get seated quickly on a Saturday morning. Sweet tea refills over and over again. And then slow. I saw some food wait so long to get picked up as the heat lamps did there thing. My wife's hot ham and cheese sandwich look3d fantastic. It was real off the bone ham. The roll kinda fell apart fell the weight but it looked good to me I got the Whistle Stop BLT salad. Very filling and satisfying. It's almost a dinner salad except it was lunch. 2nd time in past two weeks we came in for brunch. Not sure what has changed but the service, management, food quality have all drastically gone down hill. We waited for an hour or more both times for our meals, family of 4. Two orders were just kids pancakes. The manager hides when things are obviously not on point and doesn't want to offer a refill, an explanation or anything. Def not worth $60 for us to have a meal together. Skip it! read more

The food is good but it sure is going downhill quickly. There was dirty tables everywhere and nobody willing to clean them. When we finally saw a table cleaned it was very quick and sometimes dirty glasses and syrup bottles left. Seats were never wiped down and there is enough food on the floor to feed an army. Literally there is no one that is cleaning. A couple that was in front of us was wanting to eat outside with 2 clean tables available. They would not sit them till the other 6 parties were called that all sat inside. Finally they sat them outside. Not sure why they ask if you would like inside or outside if they are not looking or writing down what you say. I hope this place can turn it around. There was no manager present the whole time to oversee the operation and all the issues going on. read more

We went in for breakfast on July 4 expecting it to be busy. We got lucky and found a seat at the counter. We ordered right away and the group beside us ordered about 5 to 10 minutes after we did. 45 minutes later the group beside us received their food. We asked about our order and they said it was coming. We asked again and our ticket had been placed the completed orders. To our waitress's credit, she asked the kitchen for the order and they appeared to be rushing the order. A few minutes later, my order arrived, but not my wife's. She asked about her order and the waitress asked the kitchen. The response blew me away. We do not have that today. Really, almost an hour you figure out you do not have the item we ordered. We were told without an apology it was not available and can I get you anything else. After almost an hour no... Check, please. No apology, no interaction with a manager, just not a good look. This morning we went to the plantation café which we have been there before and it seems either their short staff or the waitress that we had wasn't very friendly she never said her name never acknowledged us then when food came out which took an hour and 15 minutes everything was cold I'm sorry to say that we are not going back to the café. The only thing good I can say about our experience was the waitress was very nice and the food got to us quickly. It however was overpriced for what we ordered which was a Reuben and potato salad, a BLT with fries and kids grilled cheese with fries. It tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned and especially bad were the fries. They tasted like they hadn't changed the oil in quite a while. I can still smell and taste it. Lunch for 7 on 5/30/22. The food grades are ; salads= b+, she-crab soup spicey = A-, Ruben sandwich= A, crab sandwich=B+, hamburger =C, regular ice tea =D and french fries A+++. (hashbrowns=F) the hamburger was $12 and it was about $7 overpriced. not bad but I have had better (and so have you ) at 5 Guys and Wendys. we will go back for breakfast because the omelets are very good. Unassuming gem in the middle of a parking lot! Our family loved all our blue plate lunches- meatloaf, pot roast and shrimp, plus the southern side were just right.
