WARNING ! It's long but read it because I am an advocate for woman and do not want another young lady to experience what I did. I am actually very disappointed in the services here. My friend had a surgical abortion at a planned parenthood facility a few years back so when I made the decision for myself to have an abortion, I was not all that concerned that my experience would be one of negativity and disappointment. I have insurance and was referred from Kaiser because Kaiser does not do the procedures. No big deal you would think. When i initially called to schedule the procedure, I was given two options to choose from, (medication or surgical). I asked the woman on the phone which was a preferred method and the risks and complications of both as this was my first pregnancy and first abortion, I just wanted advice... and she was very rude and kept saying i don't know it's up to you. Should've been a red flag then. She then asked me how old I was as if that was relevant to my question. Moving forward I decided with the surgical procedure after doing my own research and scheduled my appointment. The facility itself was clean and nice. That was appreciated, however, the care was very quick and negligent. Now quick is not necessarily a problem but the negligence i experienced was disappointing. The IV placed in my arm was extremely painful and I've had a lot of IVs. The procedure itself was extremely fast and the doctor didn't even introduce herself or ask if I had any questions before beginning. It felt rushed and the amount of bodies in the room felt like extremely crowded. A few days after my procedure I was still experiencing nausea and vomiting. I called to ask if that was normal and was advised it was. Almost two weeks after I experienced the same symptoms i called back and was still advised it was normal. It was not until I started what I thought was my period about three weeks after the procedure which I realized something was not right. I returned to Kaiser to get checked out and was informed that the fetus/embryo whichever is your preferred word was still inside of me and the procedure I had at this facility was incomplete. I was now experiencing a miscarriage. I was given misoprostal to flush out my cervix and any remains in my system but this entire experience has been pretty traumatic and has me worried about my fertility for the future. I'm not writing this review to necessarily bash this facility because planned parenthood overall is an amazing organization and there are some facilities that provide the best necessary care and treatment to women but THIS was not it. Please do better. Please take care of your patients. & please do not let this happen to another woman. We all come from different backgrounds and situations and I can just imagine if this had happened to a young victim of sexual assault or a teenager who was already fearful of this to begin with. read more

My nurse was literally so kind and my provider as well. Wait time was minimal. I was in and out in less than hour including treatment.

I used to come here when I was younger. Came back to get an exam years later. Everyone is always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Never had an issue here. They offer a great variety of services and are very helpful in explaining any information and answering any questions you may have. read more

I had the most amazing experience at PP Long Beach. The doctor, the nurses , and the rest of the staff were all so kind and helpful. I got my procedure done quickly and pain free. They answered all of my questions and Dr. Evans is such an amazing doctor and was so respectful and kind to me. The clinic is very clean and I knew I was in good hands. They respect all and any of your wishes and will make sure your information is confidential. 10/10 recommend this place for termination of pregnancy/birth control etc. Thank you very much planned parenthood for a good experience! read more

My office visit took an hour because I did walk in so it wasn't too bad of a waiting period. Everyone was nice with me. I got my results for my pregnancy test and they were negative. I should be getting my other results in about 2 weeks. Thank you planned Parenthood for my visit. read more

Wow a lot of has changed since my initial review. They have really gotten it together and have left me impressed. The receptionist I mentioned in my previous post is no longer there, service has gotten a lot better, and making an appt is easy. I am so happy they have changed. I believe they are appt only based location which is nice because you get out quicker. Wait times have improved as well. Nice job guys! read more

Love this place so thoughtful and always is very understanding. When coming to medical places I am always scared and uncomfortable but here I can be myself ask as many questions and get all my options. They think about what is best for you and your body! Sitting here as a walk in but I've been to this location many times as a walk-in and with appointments and I highly recommend going here. It's always well kept and on days I come in, it's usually not as busy compared to the Lakewood location. The receptionist, nurses and NP/s have always been kind, helpful and very informative. Let me remind some people that PP is free/low cost and it's disgusting that some girls think it's ok to talk and treat the staff poorly because they're simply asking for your information. You're literally getting many services here for FREE! There aren't enough thank yous in this world to give to PP and the staff here! read more

False advertising! I came here because the website said that they took walk-ins. I couldn't schedule an appointment online so I went in as a walk-in during their posted walk-in hours; right in the middle of those hours, mind you, not at the end of the posted walk-in times. The receptionist was very curt with me about how maybe I could not be seen today right from the get-go. Not very customer friendly when you consider that it is because of me, or the fact that I actually show up, that gives her a job. What an ingrate! 30 year supporter of planned parenthood and have been going to this location for over 4 years for full healthcare. Routine annual exams, gynecological health, birth control counseling and methods. The wait is sometimes longer than normal, but, the staff is considerate and work as quickly as they can. read more

I cannot express my gratitude enough to the staff, from front desk, medical assistants, nurses, and doctors and anyone else helping this place provide the excellent care I received. I am truly grateful and feel so relieved and just in awe of how wonderful it is to live in California and be able to access this type of care with such ease. The staff are the most professional and reassuringly kind in a way that made me feel way better. Of course I was nervous getting an abortion but I quickly found out that's normal for everyone regardless. The medical team at Long Beach Planned Parenthood I believe saved my life, getting unexpectedly pregnant in this relationship I'm in was a disaster. Let's just say we are not exactly compatible, to put it lightly. Bringing a child into this situation would have been veryirresponsible and harmful. I would not want to put any human let alone a child through this. I am barely keeping my own head above the water. Not to mention the legal upheaval of reproductive rights in this country and the precarious fight women and abortion providers are facing at the hands of people who say they are pro life but will literally threaten the lives of all involved but the unborn, not yet viable fetus that has no consciousness of anything yet. Its a difficult choice for many but that's just it. It's a choice. No one is forcing you to do it if you don't want to, so why would you turn around and force others to do what you want? Anyway, that was a tangent and a half. My point is, my experience was excellent, I feel so lucky to have access to great medical team and care in this state. Some of these other reviews are awfully nitpicky and don't seem to understand the difference between straight forward interactions with a well trained staff at a professional business and say, some overly helpful salesperson at a retail store with a plastered on fake smile. I for one, prefer people that are genuine and straight to the point. Contrary to what haters say, no one is trying to sell you anything. They are there to help and they did exactly that. The front desk people here are rude as fuck . Just rude. Rude when you first walk in, and rude when you are checking in. Every encounter with them is terrible. They don't greet you, they don't smile. It's like they hate to be here. When you're next to be checked in, They just let you stand in line waiting without even addressing you or saying give me a moment please. What type of service???? Last time I was here I had an 8:15 appointment, but they were letting walk ins go ahead of me and I ended up waiting an hour to be seen. But what's crazy about that is, during a previous visit when I was a walk in, they were telling me it didn't matter what time I came in, any appointments that came in after me had priority to be seen, even tho I was there waiting first. So which one is it???? Y'all need to get it together. Also, during one of my visits, the nurse INSISTED that I had to restart my birth control shot. I was so confused! And she was starting to get irritated at me but I know when I scheduled my appointment; I did not miss my allotted time to get my shot! I made my appointment over the phone and I made sure to ask what the dates were to get my next shot and I went based off of what THEY told me! But no the nurse kept insisting I was wrong!! She finally went and got the doctor, who told her that I was in fact on time and I didn't have to restart. These people are prideful, grumpy, and have very bad customer service! Typically the nurses and doctors are fine, but I guess that day was a bad day for them idk. The front desk is ALWAYS rude. Just bc you hate your job don't take it out on the patients. I set up an appointment and filled out all the information online of why I was going, my insurance information, etc. Everything online said I was good, that insurance would be used and didn't mention any out of pocket cost. A week later I go to my appointment fill out all the paperwork and sit through the wait time, only for them to tell me they don't accept my insurance and that I will have to pay out of pocket immediately +$200, even despite the fact I told them I'm on a $0 income household due to Covid. Waste of time and terrible service, why take my insurance and then wait until my appointment to say it doesn't work and surprise me with an outrageous cost, not like it was just a small fee. read more

I came in today on a Saturday around 11:30 and I was out before 1. When I left it was a lot more full in the waiting room. I had never been to a planned parenthood but I just recently became unemployed and no longer have insurance and wanted to get back on BC. I filled out some paperwork met some awesome employees and The girl was super informative on all the diff types there is. No charge for anything and I am super happy with this experience. read more

The front desk ladies were rude and acted like I was an inconvenience because I couldn't hear them through the plexiglass. The nurse was nice. The practitioner, Tori, was fake nice but I could feel her judgements as she probed me for information. I eventually gave in and told my embarrassing story to why I was there because it felt like I was going to continue to get probed and she asked me 4 times if I was still seeing the guy. I understand asking me for my own health and safety, but 4 times seemed excessive. I was also sent home with a flyer about genital cleanliness which was far from being related to my actual visit. I'm also a grown woman.. I've been well aware of how to properly clean myself lol. I have never felt so negative coming out of a doctor's appointment. I'm a supporter of planned parenthood but y'all have got to treat your patients with more kindness and respect. If you don't like dealing with low income patients then maybe it's time for a different job.. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now. I've always loved most of the staff and how clean the facility is. I pretty much only come in once a year for birth control refill and I ALWAYS make an appointment. The last 3 times including today (right now), I've waited an hr or more just to be called. I came in 15 minutes before my 11am appointment today. At around 11am some guy walks in, waits about 5-10 minutes and then gets called up? I immediately went up to the receptionist (white girl) and asked her why this guy was going in when I've been waiting before him WITH an appointment. She looked confused, asked me my name and put some file into a pouch. Almost like she forgot to put my file in. Then says to me that there's 1 person ahead of me. Still not answering my question as to why this dude is in before me, but whatever, I say it's fine and sit back down. Well, still waited another 5 people or so before i was called. Not as bad as last time where I waited 2 hours to be called, then another hour after that just to get my pills. You sit there all day, but can't keep organized enough to do your job right? Or what's the hold up? I'll still continue to come here; I'd say it's one of the nicest and cleanest in the south bay/long beach area, but honestly, receptionist: get your shit together. read more
