It's more of a place where you're not looking for any specifics and more of "oh I think they would enjoy this". I was told before coming here that they have a good selection of books. That I can agree on. Tons of board books for my one year old niece, all priced very fairly. Most were under $5. I got one book for $2.75 and another for $2.50. Both books retail for $8-$9. They even have a section for French books. My boyfriend came in looking for some toys for his nephews. They have a ton of minion things. Oh and a huge section for Thomas the Tank Engine. He left with 3 red bags of toys, books and puzzles. They have a TON of puzzles. He picked up 4-5 licensed character puzzles (Mickey Mouse, Cars, Minions). They have a good "art aisle", which has everything you could possibly need. Paint, crayons, markers etc. There are Crayola brand items. There is a "boy aisle" that has Thomas the Tank Engine, some Lego, remote control cars, Hot Wheels and other toys. I'm pretty much listing off what I can remember. They obviously have a "girl aisle" but I cannot remember a single thing in that aisle, as we didn't spend much time there. Then they have a "baby aisle" which has some Fisher Price toys, some clothes and bibs and stuff. Like I said, they have an okay selection of toys if you're not picky. In addition, not ALL prices are deals but most are, I guess. They had some remote control cars for $12, which I thought were kind of expensive, as they were small dinky cars. However, as mentioned previously, books are a great deal here.

My son wanted a special HotWheel playset for Christmas however I could only find it in the USA. So I went online and purchased it from JC Penny and had it shipped all costing me about $90. 2 weeks after my brother in law told me about Samko. I went into this warehouse not sure what to expect however I realized that the same items they have in store are probably 50% cheaper here. I found the same Hotwheels playset for $29.99. They have Transformers that I had purchased at Walmart for $20 at a very good price of $9.99. Other then the fact you dont get a shopping cart and that you are inside a warehouse the prices are very good. However most of the items were books. Before you go to Walmart go here and check it out. Good deals.

The efforts go into the merchandise and service rather than ambiance, and considering the near impossibility for a comic store to muffle that stuffy feeling, I'd settle for what Atomic Age has going. The store houses a good collection of comics and graphic novels, offering new and vintage. And of course, the usual knick knacks at the front counter. The owner is very nice and helpful and will order in issues of series not found on shelves for customers. It's a pretty easygoing place and owner was great with helping me find what I was looking for, but it's a little too packed inside for browsing. Good place to visit if you are able to locate it - it's very small and easily overlooked, and located in a mainly residential neighbourhood. Normally a place like this would get the standard 3 stars but the owner was very helpful and friendly so it gets a bump up.

They didn't have much, but she led me to a selection of buttons that were, uh, aboot the best ever, eh. I ended up picking a design featuring a maple leaf with the word "Sorry" stamped across the front. So. Perfect. "But... Dad... why does it say that?" "You'll have to hear them say it, Iris. That's all I can tell you. They pronounce it weird. Trust me." Anyway, I also picked up some toys she considered rather righteous, some Shrinky Dinks and a build-your-own motorized Ferris Wheel. Simply put, Scooter Girl is that toy store that every city should have, the antithesis to Toys-R-Lame, with a selection of hands-on, educational, as well as tongue-in-cheek, playthings.

Pleasantly surprised when I entered Playful Minds. Both shops are like night and day... Playful Minds is the bright, sunny, happy place, ideal to bring your kids to. While the other, "Terminally Ill Toy Store, Queen of the West" is the dark, deathly night where trolls follow you around without a peep, hoping for a reason to chase you away ...or eat your children, I'm still not sure what their deal is. I will definitely shop here again and suggest my family and friends to do so as well, maybe even people I don't like very much.

Really flexible hours of operation, open late many nights of the week, and there are constantly events occuring here. They have a fairly large, well-lit, and clean gaming space in the back. It's like Walmart lol you go in for one thing and leave with 10. There's a pretty good selection of board games, both popular and obscure. If they don't have what you're looking for they'll gladly order it for you and give you a call when it comes in. The guys who work there are all very nice and very knowledgeable. The first time I came, I was still fairly new to tabletop gaming so I wasn't sure what to get. I had my eyes set on Agricola but after talking to the associate I realized I wasn't ready for such a heavy euro game just yet. The associate asked us what we liked and then basically went through their entire collection with us, pointing out and explaining various games that he thought would appeal to us. You don't get customer service like that anymore! All the games are also much cheaper than you would find at Chapters or Mastermind Games. They've also got tons of other nerd stuff like comic books, figurines, and superhero paraphernalia. The store is located in the back of the plaza so it's difficult to find if you don't know where to look.

I signed up for their newsletter and that's how I discovered that they have a retail location in Richmond Hill that was going to be open to the public the same time that I was going to be in the GTA, and the hotel that I was staying at was less than 10 minutes away. I believe that they have 2 retail locations (this one in Richmond Hill and one in Toronto proper). These locations open up to the public for a few months at a time, unlike their travelling sales where they are only in town for a few days. Anyway, it's a warehouse, so it looks and feels like a warehouse. Prices are ok. Some items are fairly cheap, like stickers ($0.50) and books ($2.50-$10). Others are slightly lower than retail, but not bargain basement prices. They had costumes which were the same price as Party City after Halloween. It's pretty big, and is fun to poke around if you have kids in your life. You'll almost certainly find something for them. It's in an industrial park so there's lots of free parking in their parking lot.

This is not my cup of tea (unless they sold a wider variety of pompurin stuff hehe). Overall pricing felt expensive but maybe I'm just missing something. For example, with the gacha machine, $10 for 10 tokens. Typically really small keychains and toys require 5 tokens. It's the thrill, yet doesn't give me a !! HAVE TO BUY !! thrill, but more like, why should I take that chance? Similarly, $20 for a blind box. I personally don't get it, but I'm sure it's exciting & fun for lots of other people. I would recommend people who are interested in this sort of stuff check this place out, but I personally wouldn't be coming back.
