However, I go to browse the LPs, of which there are many, and - most importantly - well selected during the buying process so you're NOT flipping through the same tired stock that you see in so many other used record stores. I particularly like coming here because you can always find the latest releases, often before they're available for purchase online. I tend to be anticipating releases for months prior, so I really appreciate being able to get them ASAP! The selection is vast and covers a good array of topics, interests and identities. There's what seems to me, admittedly v Anglo, a fairly big French section (and I think some other languages as well) and the kid's section is awesome-I read stuff fairly often that seems to be categorized as YA here. I feel very welcome and catered to as a queer person as well-the selection is super inclusive in this respect! You can also get many zines (lots seem local), manga, and comics here too, if those are more your speed. The employees don't pester you while you're browsing but are always friendly and helpful if you have a question. The current location is also accessible. For me, this is the ideal one stop shop.

They have a children's area which has the material from their old Little Island location. I could imagine taking a nibling in there to go comics shopping and having a good time. Entry requires masking which, well, we're still in the middle of a pandemic so protecting the staff and yourselves is just a good idea. The books aren't cheap but they don't overcharge, so that's good; you need to just disabuse yourself of the brain poison that Amazon has infected everyone with.

It's funny saying that but the shift has been more about the toys and other comic book merchandise than the comic books themselves. All of their new release are bagged with cardboards along with the back issues located at the back in boxes. The place is narrow but long. The new release section is located at the front with the graphic novels while the back issues are at the back with the counter. I no longer collect comic books but once in a while like to browse and purchase special issues and this place does it for me. I also witnessed when they do the weekly pull of the comic books for their members and I was impressed. They were very meticulous. If you check in with Yelp, they offer a one year free membership.

I tend to stay in the west end more so the pretty long journey out to the east is pretty big for me, but always worth it. Their website is GREAT - being able to transfer between stores and their extensive search and organization shows you everything they have an had have. The biggest problem I have is the instore organization, there's so much product it's all over the place - up high, down on the floor, underneath shelves, behind other items, in cases (display and cardboard) and literally leading out the front and back doors. That being said I love their selection, great reduced price toys, tons of new items and older collectibles at great prices. I've never left their store or booth without buying something.

Her shop on Coxwell holds lots more than her famed posted though. Aside from these, she also prints clothing, designs graphics for toques, caps, postcards, cards, stickers, and has invited a variety of artists to sell their wares--ranging from stationery, zines, to tea towels. Lee also focuses on Canadian makers, which means if you fall in love with something, chances are, you're supporting someone very local. Another awesome initiative Lee took on in response to the rise in Asian hate during COVID, was dedicating a section of her store to Asian authors. This means if you want to browse novels, picture books and comics by Asian authors there's a shelf of just that waiting for you at Secret Planet. Another benefit of Secret Planet is its location. Being about a 10 min walk from Coxwell station, you can easily hop out of the station a hop back in. If you live local artists and unique gifts, visiting Secret Planet is a must!

Ok, sure undeterred I walk down there with a bag of comics and find no comic shop at the address. I call him and he tells me its 3 blocks west, alright cool no problem. When I get in there and start taking the comics out he asks what I have, and I said the best things I have in here are Spiderman 2099 #1 & 2, to which the comic book guy attitude starts up. I said that's ok if you don't want them, but it's still the best thing in this bunch i have here. He offered me nothing. I did check the price of some of them online, and as a musician who uses the internet for gear- I'm used to seeing those prices and realizing thats not what you'll always get, but I knew some of the stuff did have some value. Here's what would've been great- If he had looked at the email I sent, as instructed by the employee. And if you know what kind of comics you will take, maybe share those guidelines.
