Walked into who I thought was a friendly person but after asking her what was best on the menu (cuz we were 1st timers) and wanting our sub cold, she told us she'd bring it right out when it was finished. We were the only ordering customers. Another couple there already had their food. When I came back 15 minutes later she was standing in the back talking to her con worker. When she saw me she grabbed the bag in front of her and walked it toward me. I asked for paper plates. "You're eating it here now?" " Yes, outside." Eye roll. Goes in the back and they must be wayyyy in the back, and retrieves paper plates. Instead of handing them to me she holds them hostage as she opens the entire canister of napkins and hands me 1/2 the stack with the paper plates and says, "here you go" I'll let you know how the sandwich tastes if I feel like eating it. Main issue for me was hot sandwiches that had cold meat in the center. The homemade bread was delicious as was the entire Chicken Parmesan sandwich taken as a whole. It was off putting to receive a sandwich to bite into a mixture of hot and ice cold. My wife's Planet Barbecue was the same way, delicious but a mixture of hot and ice cold. Not all that big of a deal, I can't undersand some of the 5 star reviews. I thought the bread was good, the veggies were appropriate in quality and quantity the meat was rather ordinary and skimpy. All in all this was a sandwich I could have made at home for far less and more meat nothing in it was special enough for me to come back. Its as if some guys made some typical sandwiches at home and decided to call it a sub shop. The quality was more like a Quiznos than a subway which is a plus but not really good enough that I would book mark it. I stopped here one time with a few friends while on a road trip. It's pretty good for a fast food place, hence the 4 stars. It was nice to eat something that wasn't fried and greasy, which gets old pretty quickly on road trips. This is like a slightly upgraded version of Subway. The inside was clean and attractive. The employee was friendly and gave us time to look over the menu, letting us know that their bread is made from scratch in house. K. and I ordered a sub to share and we got half mega roast beef (his half) and half green turkey (mine). His had roast beef, bacon, swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms, and bbq sauce. Mine had turkey, bacon, cream cheese, guacamole, onions, sprouts, tomatoes, and salsa. My sandwich tasted fresh and didn't skimp on the meat. If I happened to drive through again, I'd consider stopping by for a quick bite to eat. read more

On our way to St. Louis when the boyfriend saw a sign for Planet Sub. His interest was peaked by their kitchy sign. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming and the food was brought out pretty quick. The bread was freshly baked this morning and had a delicious baked crunch. I'd been to Planet Sub in other locations and always love that they have so many different veggie options including 2 different tempeh subs. For the prices, which are moderate, I think they ought to include a little something like a pickle spear, just to differentiate themselves from say, Subway, and to be more in line with Firehouse Subs (just for example). My husband's full size tempeh parmesan seemed worth the price but my half meatless masterpiece did not. It was tasty, of course, but could have used a LOT more veggies. It was mostly pepper jack & cream cheese. I can't go higher than 3 stars due to this. When I order a veggie-based sub, I want my vegetables piled on. When I unwrapped this sandwich it looked like it was just cheese on a half loaf of bread, and I really had to look for any sign of the peppers or olives. I detected zero mushroom or onion on it. Very skimpy for more of a premium sandwich shop. I liked their decor, welcoming staff, and this store's roomy space. read more

This is one randomly located Planet Sub. Originally from Lawrence, KS (as Yellow Sub) and the KC area (Planet Sub), these stores provide some pretty tasty toasted subs. Atmosphere and decor in all restaurants I've been too suggest a new age hippie feel similar to staring at a Ben & Jerry's carton for too long. The small subs themselves are huge and filling. I got the Italian, which was stuffed with various italian meets and salamis, loaded with veggies and drowned in some vinegar dressing. Of course the bread was properly toasted. Oh my goodness! Sweet baby this place is awesome! We were driving down to Texas and just needed somewhere quick to stop an grab a bite. Neither of us expected anything spectacular but whoa baby were we surprised! They freshly bake their bread daily so it's super fresh and crispy. I got the super hero sub and it was so good. Perfect blend of meats, cheeses, and veggies. It was served warm and I devoured it. My boyfriend ordered the Big Dipper that was beef and cheese and came with this awesome au jus. I have enjoyed the Planet Sub locations in St. Louis, and this one lives up to the tasty meter. It even has better decor than the ones in the Louis with the font of a VW bug in the wall. They had Tom and Jerry on the TV for my kids to stare at while I thoroughly enjoyed my super hero.
