hey said 2 to 3 hours. it took over 4 hours installer lost cover near hand brake, broke the side cover of my seat and left pieces of clipped wire and plastic in my car. beware! you've been warned! there are other reputable stereo shops that don't lie. this place is a scam scam scam! they still need to replace the broken part! they haven't heard the last from me take your vehicle somewhere else! at least i saved over $2,500 to $3,000 by not bringing in my jeep wrangler. i'll be spending my money at another honest stereo shop! read more

I had my car broken into- sigh. I started searching for an alarm and dash-cam in the area. I reached out via Yelp and got a response from Gilbert pretty quickly. Service was friendly. I walked in to get some info on pricing as I wanted something reasonable. Came around 1:30pm on a Sunday. The installation was completed by closing hours, 6pm. There was one small hiccup with a piece missing from the dash cam but I was able to come in by the next weekend to get the dash cam fully setup and completed. Got my system installed about a year ago and the bass knob no longer works. So I asked for a replacement wire and the owner decided to give me a long talk on how I need to come in the morning and bring it in when all I wanted to know was if they sold the wire I needed replaced. I continued to just ask for the wire but he kept telling me how I was impatient and how I need to just bring it in the morning. Still never telling me if they sold the wire there or not. All I wanted was to know if I can buy a wire there. Then he started to question if I even bought the system from his store and told me rude comments like "did you get this from us 5-10 years ago" and "I can buy your car if I wanted, I have $1,000,000". Just because I wanted to buy a wire and fix it myself instead of bringing it in. Literally all I wanted to know was if they sold the wire I needed and the manager decided to raise his voice at me because I didn't want to bring my car into his shop. Very strange and rude dude. The first time I came here the employee were actually really cool. Unfortunately I ran into the owner who seems to be a guy who's just on a power trip. Wish I would've talked to the employees instead Update*** My dad just fixed the wire that they refused to tell us if they sold or could replace for us. Now the knob controls the bass. My fiance's Ford Escape had a SYNC system that was slowly falling apart (thanks Ford!). The Bluetooth was very spotty, often just failing to work while in the middle of a drive and requiring the car to be restarted. After much consideration, I decided it was time to replace her stereo with something that had a few more bells and whistles. I wound up putting a project out and collecting bids with the best experience coming from Planet Stereo. Gilbert offered a great price, now let's go through the actual installation. I was quoted $500 out the door for a mechless receiver and all of the aftermarket parts to install. It was quite a steal. After looking up the specific stereo, I figured this was acceptable and made the drive. Gilbert suggested the install would take about 2 hours, so I planned for a good amount of time for this. Now, it did take longer than expected. However, I was warned of that when I arrived, as they were busier than normal the day I opted to drive over. They do have a lounge area where you can sit and watch TV while you wait. I would suggest bringing something to snack on. There are some restaurants somewhat nearby, but refreshments while at the store are lacking. That said, I was comfortable enough watching a Rams game while they worked away. The result was a perfect install. They did apologize for the length of time, but I was okay with that, since I got to watch the entire game. The gentleman working the floor (forgot your name, sorry!) walked me out to check out the job and show me some of the basic functions of the new deck. They did need parts that they didn't factor into cost, and included them at no additional charge to me. And the deck, while an off name, did have some very important features like wireless Apple CarPlay - a huge win at that price point. They even have a finance option, which can amount to 90 days same as cash (with small processing fee) or longer terms if needed. Great install, and great staff. Higher end options also available if you have the budget, which I did not. read more

Great pricing on stereo systems and alarms probably one of the lowest in the area. Recommend if you want to save a few bucks, they don't teach you how to pair up or use your system after but that's what YouTube is for. They also offer tint, they hire a mobile guy to do it and I thought I could save time and just get it all done in one shot. Car came back with bubbles on 5 out of the 6 windows. Even after waiting a week the bubbles and dust specs were still visible(see pics). I brought the car back since they offer warranty but upon speaking with mgmt they said they would redo the windshield and try to touch up the windows. Spoke to the tech after he said he could do the windshield but not do the windows and that these things never come out perfect (btw the receipt says no refunds) Now understanding the level of competency, I left and went to my usual shop and they did the job with no bubbles. Asked my shop about the bubbles/dust specs and they said it's just laziness Conclusion: Radio good Alarm good Tint no good Wasted a lot of time and money going back and forth plus the second tint job, I even offered to pay their mobile guy to come out to me since I have a busy schedule and it's not always easy taking time off but was refused. Told them it cost me more to take half a day off plus gas then it is to redo the tint and they just said they have costs too. This place is starting to not be good I had to go back 4 times within a 1 month time period due to amps shorting and cutting out , had amps replaced and said I was fine then it would happen again , even had head unit replaced and they did a incomplete job and luckily I stood to make sure if there was any issue and they were about to send me off without all my buttons working so they set a date and appointment to have it fixed and they couldn't even do the job still tried sending me off without working buttons and told me to come back again so they can fix it , so I took it to a different place and they said the wiring was a terrible , they had my wires bent and not wrapped with electrical tape and they had my tune setting completely wrong everything was set so high that all my amps were cutting off ,, talk about trash installers read more

After opening a project on Yelp and chatting with a few businesses, I decided to pick Planet Stereo based on the provided quota. I appreciated that responses were provided in the evening and in a quick manner. Upon arriving, I needed to wait a bit as there were other customers ahead with only one staff at the front desk. This was on a Sunday around 11 AM. After discussing with the staff about my request, I paid for the service. place is a joke, they wont warranty anything without the paper receipt. who only uses paper receipts? they have no data base which is ridiculous! who can ever find a receipt? thats why they use computers. they over charged me in the first place on an alarm. then after a year or so it went crazy and started going off for no reason. i took it back and asked them to disconnect it because they were (too busy) to do anything else. the clown wanted to charge me $40 because i cant find the receipt. get with the times and use a data base! so stupid! read more

Really bad work and super over priced not only did they mess up and drilled a screw through the cables of the fuel pump that at first I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car... I thought my fuel pump gave out so had to pay a mechanic to replace it and pay for the fuel pump but didn't fix the problem so taught it was a fuse or relay and had to also get it towed to a shop smh till finally found that the problem was a sheet metal screw that planet stereo screwed into my back seat to place the amp... and went and told them the issue and asked them to please make things right by at lease just give me half of what I waisted on tow fees fuel pump mechanic fees and I had receipts they refused.... It's just messed up not only did they refused but I told them if I was a different race and threatened to sue they would've jumped at the opportunity to fix things but I'm not like that I'll rather let karma take care of things... read more

Planet stereo is a large store located in the city of Covina. Large parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. The interior store has a large inventory of auto stereo equipment for sale. I was having problems with the static in the rear speakers in my vehicle, a 2009 Mercedes E550. I asked the technician how much it would cost to diagnose the problem. He said a charge would be $40 and it would be applied to any work that I had done. One of his team members drove my vehicle inside the shop and said that's probably a problem with the amplifier. He said they can order a new amplifier for me and proceeded to find one on eBay. I wasn't sure if that was a good idea because there were two different model radios installed in a 2009 Mercedes. I asked him could they stop the static from the rear speakers. They said they could disconnect your speakers for a charge of $120. I noticed when he charged my credit card he ran he rounded up the initial $40 charge to $45 and $120 charge to $125.00. The technician cut the wires to my speakers to disable the sound. I later found out that the rear speakers could have been disabled from the console inside the car. read more

The stereo is fine. Not happy with the service. I dropped off my car at 12:30 PM and I asked how long it would take and he said only a couple of hours and then I said I would be back after work and he said that was okay. So now I'm confused as to why it took six hours to get my car back. I even called at 4:30 to see if my car was ready and they said it would be 30 more minutes. I got there at 5 and still had to wait another hour for the car to be ready. I paid $780 for a stereo installation and for that much money I 100% wish I went elsewhere. If you knew it was gonna take this long, why did you tell me it would only be a few hours?
