There are plenty of pizza options in Monroe, no option even comes close to Planet Pizza. The pizza is fantastic, perfect crust, and a ton of toppings options. I've been going to Planet Pizza since they opened (I think more than 15 years, at least). I love everything on their menu and have never been disappointed. I moved to NC 4 yrs ago & recently visited. This place is one I recommend. I placed an order over the phone and picked it up 20 minutes later. Their customer service was pleasant both over the phone and in person. Very friendly and welcoming. Their pepperoni pizza was good not exceptional but I would order again. I will say their garlic knots are HUGE (the size of my fist not exaggerating). Their wings how ever were amazing. When you open the container the smell hits you and makes your mouth water. Also unlike other places the wings aren't comprised of mostly bone and aren't dry. Okay, Okay the pizza is good compared to the other pizza places (Amalfi, Marios, Gino's. So we decided to explore the menu. I ordered the chicken parm, and it came with a side pasta. I wanted penne so the rude girl on the phone asked her boss 5 dollars extra for the penne. Really? So we get it anyway. After telling the rude young lady where we live, the driver calls and says he's going to be late because there's another Rd matching ours. I giving planet pizza a 5 because they are rated below other pizzerias close by and it doesn't make sense! This is the best pizza in Monroe hands down. We moved hear recently and were dying to find good pizza. Unfortunately Yelp steered us wrong, which usually doesn't happen. Ok ,the crust: buttery and just the right amount of chewy. I rarely eat the crust on pizza because it's often dry and tasteless. The sauce: salty but not too salty. To me a good slice doesn't need to be torpedoed with seasoning to give it flavor. The cheese: fresh and delicious. This is our go to pizza hands down! read more

Outstanding! The service is always very friendly. They rotate through an extensive list of specials, and if you get to know a favorite, they will usually cook it up for you if they have the ingredients. Everything is always flavorful. We are big fans of the penne a la vodka, the chicken felicia, the italian combo, the chicken parm. So far everything has been good, although I prefer a crispier pie. Not a problem, though there is always something good on the specials board or menu. The best part is the ridiculously big portions. I mean the meals are really bordering on two to three times the portions you would normally get at an italian restaurant for very reasonable prices. And specials usually come with a salad to boot, and fresh baked bread for the table. This is definitely our go to restaurant in Orange County. read more

better wings than the place around the corner what ever that bar is called. i believe it's "bourbon street". the bathroom smells like someone peed on the floor. does it even get cleaned?? i went there early after my bike ride and it smelled already so clearly it's not being cleaned properly. had to go to planet pizza to even gain an appetite. finally after smelling real food i was able to refuel. disgusting establishment. all i wanted to do was get a meal and drink and use their disgusting woman's restroom. my mistake. read more

My family and I ordered take-out from here. The wait was about 40 minutes but we got are food sooner before. The girl working the phone seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. But overall the service was pretty decent. We ordered 2 dozen wings. Half Mild, half Honey BBQ. 2 Chicken Marsalas. 1 Veal Marsala. Chicken Parm. Which all came with pasta and salad. The wings were really good. Very tender. The chicken marsalas,veal marsala and the chicken parm. All tasted wonderful. I liked the sauce of the chicken marsala. Very flavorful. I'm a NYC dweller who thinks you can't get decent pizza outside of Manhattan. I'm here to tell you this place has some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Tomato basil pizza is outstanding. I don't think you can go wrong here when it comes to pizza. But wait ... it gets even better. The restaurant that seems to be part of the place is out of this world - excellent Italian food - really top drawer. The entrees are incredibly inexpensive - you won't believe how good the food is in this restaurant. However, again, in Monroe there seems to be a real disconnect with decor. It is one of the ugliest restaurants you'll ever go into. In fact, I avoided it for 6 months just on the look of it. Hideous furniture and wall decorations, horrible bright lights, just a dismal looking place to sit and eat. But the food is truly sensational. Aside from the screw cap little bottles of wine they bring you (really?) the waitresses are very friendly and the service is good. The wait can be long - very long - but my wife and I keep going back because this place has awesome food for cheaper than you can believe prices, great customer service. Just don't look up - the room is depressing as hell. But the food is HEAVENLY. And I'm a very particular foodie with high standards. read more
