Cascarino's is the real deal, and I do not use that phrase lightly…read more We tried three things on this visit: the grandma pie, a classic regular slice, and a custom panzerotto. Let me start with that panzerotto, because it deserves its own paragraph. This is the kind of dish you would have to fly to Italy to find, and somehow Cascarino's is making it right here. It was the single best thing I ate, and I am still thinking about it. The grandma pie was phenomenal, perfectly crisp on the bottom, pillowy inside, with that beautiful golden crust that so few places actually nail. The regular pizza held its own too, with solid sauce, great cheese pull, and a crust that had real character. But what ties it all together is the ownership. This is a true owner-operated spot, and you feel it in every detail, the care in the kitchen, the warmth at the counter, the consistency in every bite. When the owner is on site, this place is firing on all cylinders. Five star service, no question. And order the rice ball, packed with cheese and meat and hotttt out of the oven. Cascarino's is, without a doubt, the best pizza and Italian food restaurant in the area. It is worth the drive. I have made it twice in two weeks and am already thinking about a third trip.

The Pizza Beast is back for another round, and Cascarino's continues to deliver…read more When a place earns repeat visits year after year, that's usually the best review there is. The pizza still has that solid NY-style crunch, good flavor, and plenty of topping options. Whether grabbing a quick slice or ordering from the full menu, the food is consistently well-prepared and hits the mark. What really stands out is the consistency. The owner clearly takes pride in the operation, the kitchen stays on point, and the staff keeps things moving. It's not easy to maintain quality over time, but Cascarino's has managed to do exactly that. Pizza Beast Verdict: Still one of the most reliable pizza spots in the area. Great slices, solid menu, and a place I keep coming back to for a reason. Rating: 5/5 Beast Slices

There's something about an old-school neighborhood pizza place that makes you want to love it…read morebefore the first slice even hits the table. Frank's Pizza in Middletown has that feeling--the comfortable booths, the familiar atmosphere, and the sense that, at one time, this place must have been absolutely buzzing. I ordered a whole spinach-and-garlic pizza along with a Capri salad, water, and a ginger ale. The spinach and garlic sounded like exactly the kind of simple combination that should shine, but the pie was noticeably oily. By the time I settled into a slice, the excess oil had become the thing I noticed most, overshadowing what could have been a much better pizza. The salad was a pleasant companion to the meal, and the service was fine. Our server was fairly friendly, though nothing about the experience felt especially polished or memorable. What Frank's does have is convenience and character. Being right in Middletown makes it an easy neighborhood option, and I genuinely loved sitting in the booth and taking in the throwback feel of the place. You can almost imagine the dining room in its heyday, filled with regulars and families coming in for their favorite pie. I wanted the food to live up to that atmosphere. With a little more attention to the quality and preparation--particularly a lighter hand with the oil--the experience could be considerably better. There's still charm here; I'd just like to taste more of it in the pizza.
