Amazing experience at Planet Nails! After traveling for about a month and a half, my feet were in rough shape and Henry completely brought them back to life with an above and beyond pedicure. My feet look and feel so much better. Lily did my hard gel manicure and it came out absolutely perfect. She also did the wax paraffin treatment and gave me the best 10-minute shoulder massage I've ever had -- it was so relaxing and much needed. I have been going to this business for many years with my family. I'm a very generous tipper. These people work hard and I've always respected their work. We've always chosen the more expensive categories and upsells. A few weeks ago I had my usual gel pedicure removed and decided to give my nails a break with a simple pedicure. Not having paid attention while she was working it was obvious, when I noticed chipping and unevenness on my nail bed that she did not follow protocol when removing the gel. I removed the polish and saw that she hadn't filed them. Sadly, my nails have been horribly compromised and it's taken weeks to get them healthy enough to begin the process of finding another business. read more

I'm staying in the area on an out-of-town visit and needed to get my nails done. Saw the reviews on yelp and decided to give this place a go. Tony was awesome. I tried gel X nails for the first time. They were not what I expected, but they came out looking lovely. He took his time and was very attentive to detail. He knew what an American French manicure was without me having to explain it, and he did the off-white part freehand with no mistakes... Pretty amazing. He also did my pedicure, which went very fast, and he was extremely efficient. Totally happy with the outcome of both. I felt like the tools and equipment they were using were clean, so I did not have any concerns about sanitation. I'm dinging them a star because I think the price is high for the ambience. It's fine in there but certainly nothing special. Maybe that's just the neighborhood -- like I said, I am from out of town. Rents are probably really high here. I had no problem finding street parking and there is a tiny little coffee shop across the street that has literally the worlds best (if overpriced) coffee. read more

When you point out a mistake, instead of fixing it politely, the staff argues with you and tries to charge you more. It's unprofessional, rude, and feels like they care more about squeezing money out of you than delivering good service. It's very easy to book an appointment--all you have to do is call their number, and they'll put your name down. However, while getting a manicure and pedicure done, I learned that they do indeed accept walk-ins and never turn anyone away (wow!). There is no doubt that everyone here works so hard. They are always so busy! But they are very pleasant and nice to everyone. The nails came out nice, but I feel like they didn't take too much time on the feet soles, - so for both pedicure gel and manicure gel and taking off two acrylic nails on my toes I paid $100; found it a little on the high side, but I guess we're in We-ho. So what do you expect? Note I am coming from Lagos ( Nigeria) so for almost half the price, soooo much attention is paid to the feet.especially the soles. I do want to mention that for reference. Well, the owner manager offered me a nice bottle of cold water while I waited and I appreciated that. Also appreciate the nice warm towel at the end of the process! Phew! Overall, I like it. I hate to do this because I have been coming here for years, and all has been well. Today I came in for a mani/pedi and the man that worked on my feet was so aggressive that he left me bleeding on nearly every toe. Gel is slopped all over my feet. He clipped the nails short, and then filed them down so far that it bled. He nearly threw my shoes at me in dismissal. I felt that the whole thing was rushed to get me in and out as fast as possible even though there were empty chairs. Now, I've worked with all of the women here, and they are much gentler and take their time. If you choose to go here, ask for one of the women. I'm sorry to say it this way, but maybe the men just don't know enough about being on the receiving end of a pedicure. It's supposed to be a relaxing experience. It was my second time being back here and I can say this is one of the best nail salons I've been to in LA! It's hard to find friendly, clean places that actually do such a good job on your nails. I rarely get nails done because I'm a stickler for detail and I get annoyed but it never happened here because of their meticulousness. The first time I came Tony took care of me with gel-x and did an amazing job on my nails! Today I worked with Lona and her eye for detail is amazing. Got gel-x refills and french tip and I'm literally obsessed can't stop looking at my nails! Also got pedicure by the lovely Holly and she is always so meticulous and perfect in the way she gets my pedicure done! So happy to have found my nail salon in la! The shop is small but they greet you as soon as you walk in. They have a decent selection of regular polish which I use for my toes. They have a great selection of gel colors. When I got there I was able to sit in the pedicure right away. I waited about 15 mins before my services started. That's my only reason for removing a star. I love Planet Nails because they have really friendly service and always seem to make time for you even if you need to pop in relatively last minute. I suggest giving them a call in advance just to be safe. They're better staffed than some of the other nail salons nearby, so I never feel like they rush me. I love getting pedicures in their cozy massage chairs. I feel like it's so relaxing. My pedis always last well and they do a great job to help you get into your flip flops so you don't mess up your nails. They are really clean and they use disposable bags to line the foot tubs so that your feet never touch a shared tub. I have never had any health issues here so that's another reason to keep coming back! Their manis are also great! I usually do a French manicure and they suggested adding glitter to it one time, which I LOVED! So that's my new mani look here. The ambiance is relaxing with their fake aquarium and bubble sounds! And it never smells too strongly of acetone in there, which I really appreciate! Honestly, I'll keep coming back because of their friendly service. The last time we went, they noticed my friend had to put on socks and sneakers and they came outside to put oil on her toes and wrap her feet in cellophane to make sure she didn't wreck her nails. Went here for my bday. It was ok. We were able to walk right in but it's a very busy place. They get you in and out from what I could see. While they offer beverages to some, we were not offered any. TONY is the only person I let do my nails. I'm very indecisive, and he is so patient. He changed my nail color one time bc I didn't like how it was see through and he didn't make me feel bad about it. He makes me feel so comfortable, and I always leave happy with my nails. Regular pedicure: there was some care and thoroughness to the actual pedicure portion but lack of attention to detail on the cleanliness of polish application. Edges of big toenails were exposed and nail polish was messily applied to remainder of toes. Had to ask for a clean up, but even afterwards nail polish was still on skin. Cuticle on right second toe was also clipped and bleeding. Regular Manicure: Only one coat of color was applied and looked thin but passable for a couple days but now ballet pink coloration is fading to an orange ombré. I got my services done Wednesday July 12th and not even 2 days later my nails are chipping . They are constantly overbooking themselves so the services feel rushed . The salon looks great ! Extremely clean and neatly organized but I was charged $75 for something they call hard gel which is meant to last longer ...not worth it at all.
