Great staff, great lay out and lots of fun! A few staff members and I decided to stop by after attending an event next door. Very large and fun arena with lots of cool lights. I felt like a kid again running around racking up points. Very cool idea for birthday parties or if you just wanna feel like a kid again!

Lazer tag always brings in the nostalgic feelings as a kid of fear, excitement, sweat and the competitive sharp shooter. The front entrance of Planet Lazer is a little secluded, it's around the corner from the Extreme Air Park. The parking lot is small, so just park in the bigger lots of the air park and walk around to the laser tag entrance. I was hoping they would have improved on the ventilation but it was minimal, there was barely any air flow even with the entrance doors wide open. Hot and muggy but eventually our bodies got used to it and we felt okay. The are lockers available to rent for a fee I believe, but just leave your valuables in the car. We came on a Sunday early evening and there happened to be 3 birthday parties going on. So there's a lot more private party rooms in this location. Little kids running around, yelling and screaming and food and debris was everywhere. It was chaos. Considering all the bodies around, there were only 2 staff members and it was kind of difficult to get their attention or help. Regardless, once we paid and got our sign-in cards it was pretty easy to set things up. Out of the 5 computers to register yourself, 3 of them were working, a little frustrating when there's a lot of people waiting to input their data. Once registered and code names picked, we just waited for our game time. Several TV screens had a video on loop of what the game area with players looked like, and how to use your gun and where to tag other players. I liked looking at the real-tie score board to see which players were doing well and who's on top - Who is Hobeeboo? over 100,000 points! The washrooms were on the messy side, probably because of the hoards of messy kids. There are a few arcade games and vending machines as well. Good thing the staff have a loud voice, you need it to overcome the ruckus of the kids, they yell out when the next group of players can play. You look on the screen for you codename and to see which vest number you have - once inside the blacklit room, put on your vest (the front is where your gun is attached ;)). The first vest I had was wet, Oh. My. Gross!!!! But you have to get past that - and lots of hand washing was needed throughout this laser tag process. A staff member yelled out the instructions, again a little difficult because he was yelling it quite quick but the main rules are written on the walls. Remember to hold the 2 red buttons on the side of the gun in order to activate your trigger! The "special abilities" are the good things to note: Invincible mode is when you can get shot with no penalties, so go into the war zone fearless and shoot away! Bonus mode is where you get extra points for every player you tag. Spy mode is when your vest colour changes so no one knows which team your on. The play area is a definite improvement to the old Planet Laser in the original Richmond location. There is a main top and bottom level with an in between level. The area has a lot of hidden corners and pillars, and it feels more maze like so you can really be sneaky and tag people around corners. I really enjoyed the layout. You can make this as sweaty as you wish, run around and tag people or stake out an area and ambush people when they walk by. Overall, I had a really good time and the price was decent. Two 20 minute games for $10! Of course they kept the keepsake paper records of your score and who you tagged and who tagged you. Records to compare with your friends to see who came out on top or see if your SO tagged you when you said you wouldn't tag each other - clearly the competitive nature comes out full force for my SO! Let your kid side come out! Don't just laze there, get your laser tag on at Planet Lazer!

I had a blast on their thrill rides such as the OG wooden roller coaster which was built way before we were born in 1958...yup, its age does add an extra rocky and spooky element when you are on this ride. Their mini golf course was cute and with enough challenging designs for family fun. Hole in one at hole 16 and 17 was a thoughtful and encouraging design too. Paid parking available and free street parking is possible if you park further away. Staff is overall quite friendly. Vendor foods' costs are of course usually higher at an amusement park but hot dogs, burgers, pizza, donuts and cotton candy are the standard food options at an amusement park. Tips: Recommend to visit on a less sunny or even cloudy day to avoid the heat while in lineup. Do bring a hat or sunscreen on sunny days and stay hydrated. Look for online promotion when buying admission tickets for better value and please don't compare Playland to Disneyland. I chose to visit Playland when PNE is not open for less crowds and spent about half a day there. Put your hands up on the rides and scream for a good time :)

We were so excited for the pig race, we dropped everything to make sure we make it. However, we were pretty disappointed... the race was for 20mins in total but we only got to see the pigs for probably 1min. They only did two races. The space was also very tight so it was hard for people to see, on top of that, there was no ventilation so it got very stuffy and hot. Considering this is a part of their summer fair, it would've been nice if they some water coolers or fans. :: Superdog show - hands down best part of the fair!! The show was for 30mins and we got to pet the dogs after which was amazing. The show itself was very humorous and had lots of fun elements. Now the food - :: The Tochi YVR flights were amazing, 5/5 would recommend (especially the coconut one) :: Slush Zone - we got their slushies from the Slush Zone which came in funky bottles that looked big but did not hold a lot of fluid. You had to pay $2 to refill them which was not too bad. :: Shrimp Basket from the Shrimp Basket stall, pretty good! The Shrimps were fried to perfection. I wish they had the foot long fries, they were my favourite at PNE!! Hope they bring them back next year.

For $10 you get approximately 7 minutes of a virtual reality experience. Most of it is video game-type stuff but there are a couple of roller coaster simulations and others as well. Pro tip: Ask about what's not in the book. And ask for age-appropriate experiences too, if you want advice - the nice guy working the booth had a good handle on what I might like and what I wouldn't, and I'm sure he could do the same for young kids as well. I've never done *any* VR before so this was a first. It definitely seemed like a glorified video game. The graphics are not FlyOver Canada quality (think somewhere between 1980s Nintendo Duck Hunt and Wreck It Ralph), but the water slide program I chose was really fun! Because I chose a shorter program, I got to choose another. I chose "Iceland" - which I don't recommend. It seemed like I was walking around sub-par graphics with no aim or any control over my "body." Next time I'll definitely do amusement park rides only! A fun way to pass the time (or at least to get away from screaming children in 7 minute increments!).

The place was less suitable for a one-year-old, but there was a pretty good toddler area. I thought the place was pretty clean and had lots of stuff to do. My main complaint is that the merry-go-round type 'rides' shown on the website cost a loonie, even though I paid admission. I'd expected them to be free. Also, some big kids went into the toddler area and were rowdy for a bit, but didn't get asked to leave. But overall, pretty good, though not as spectacular as the best indoor playgrounds I've seen
