Like many of the reviews state don't waste your money! Every time my kids get invited to a birthday here, I cringe. The staff are not attentive and don't really care. The parking was always absolutely awful but now they have taken away space along the side to park and posted signs that say extra parking at the bottom of the hill for a price!! I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews. There is no way they could ethically have 4.1 stars. I do not recommend booking this place especially for kids parties for several reasons. -the worst customer service I have encountered. If you have any problem they will tell you to contact their head office, there are is no phone number to contact the head office and you have to submit a form on their web page that they can choose not to respond to. -there is no supervision in the lazer tag room and staff do not help the kids get ready. Your child or guest could get assaulted and there is no help for them. -due to another event the lights kept on turning off and on. -the parking is horrific and it will be a huge inconvenience to your guest. After circling for 1/2 hr many of our guest had to park at the bottom of a large hill and at quite a distance. Our experience: there was a scheduling error on their part, and even though we booked the party 3 months prior to our party we got a call 3 days prior to our event saying what we booked wouldn't work. Instead of being helpful and offering solutions, they were rude, threatened to charge us $100 to cancel or change it. We had to call repeatedly as we were unable to get ahold of the head office. We then get an email with the wrong date the day before our event making us scramble to make alternative plans. DO NOT waste your money on a birthday party here. The New West location got behind on Saturday, Sept 15th and my son's party was delayed by 45 minutes. However, it appears I am still paying for my 2 hour time slot. Imagine 18 boys, aged 7-10 with nothing to do in an open space. I would have just reversed the party order and used the party room first but they won't grant you access until the last minute. Kids were crying, fighting and saying they wanted to leave (birthday boy included). Once we did get the party room they didn't: bring enough plates, had the wrong pizza, brought one cake instead of 2, didn't give us a knife to cut the cake with and were then short spoons. For each of these items, I had to go back up to the counter to get, with staff looking annoyed. At one point, I was followed back to the room to "count" paper plates because people must badly want an extra 2 Styrofoam plates! We took the kids here this summer since they were demanding laser tag!. It was pretty quite, there were about 8 kids in total. The guy in the front desk was nice and friendly. The place is pretty dark but it seems the kids like that. They offer birthday parties which could probably be a good option to get out of the house. On Wednesdays they have 2x1 games and other sort of promos during the other days. The average game price is around $9 or 3 games for $20. My son went for a birthday party. The staff was so unprofessional, rude and dismissive. One staff member called my son and his cousins (ages 9-11) "f#*^ing idiots" when explaining how to put on a vest. When we called to lodge a complaint the staff hung up and then would not answer the phone after. This is by far the worst experience for a birthday party we have had!!! We booked a party at the new west location forgot 9 year old. We were told the game ran at 530 be there for 5 to sign in. We were all there and signed in before 530 the screen we signed in on said our game time was at 540 My husband and the 10 kids lined up and went in at 540 little did they know or were told that the game had already started. 5 minutes later that round wS over! They were ready for round 2 and spent the full 15 mins inside, we were not reimbursed for round one and when we got in to our room we were missing a large pizza. My husband asked where it was and they said that it would take 30 mins to get the pizza so my husband said forget it we weren't going to be there long enough. We got our money back on the pizza but that's because we had just paid for it as an extra. The customer service was awful! The one guy was trying to talk to us about our missing game time while he was standing eating a McFlurry saying he was just the middle man! I am very disappointed with my experience with Planet Lazer. I booked a birthday party and paid my 50% deposit at $27 per child, which was the posted online rate. However, 4 days later when we arrived for the party I was charged $30.50 per child. When I asked about the increase I was told the rates went up that day and there was nothing he could do about it. He did not give me any warning about the increase and, actually, initially just gave me my credit card receipt instead of the actual receipt. Later that evening I checked the website and the rate had increased to $29 per child. Completely dishonest and I am still wondering what the extra $1.50 was for. One of the worse experiences I have had! I had made an online booking for a birthday party and was informed online that I would be contacted five days before the event. I received the message and called back....and back...and back. Their calls go directly to voicemail and no one calls back. One of the worst experiences for a birthday venue I have ever had. The place is run by teens who have clearly not had any customer service training. What's worse is that they're rude and disrespectful. You're spending hundreds of dollars but they have no respect for you or your investment. Outside of that the infrastructure is horrible. Want here to play laser tag and there were just 2 of us do we thought we would just hang out and play pinball and video games for a half hour or so. The first machine "South Park" we put 4 quarters in expecting to play doubles with my son. The first ball went down the middle and the game stopped! Instead of tilling the machine I pushed every button several times then tried the start button and it took the other credit. No biggie I'm sure things like this happened before so I explained to the manager who put an out of order sign on it. We had a Birthday party for 8 year old in Planet Lazer, New Westminster location. Price per child almost like a Science World. But the quality was AWFUL! No organization. As we came in, we were asked to put all the stuff just on the table in the hall, as the room was not ready yet. Then we had to register all the players with details like full name, address, phone, bdate etc on the computer and...smile to the camera to take the photo! The cameras were adult high, so we had to lift every kid and you can imagine that registering them was really fun because kids are always patient. After that we had to run after the guy and ask what do we do now. "nothing" he said, "just stay here and I will call you". So we stayed at the same hall (did I mention the noise?) with many other people different ages, trying to make sure that none of the kids is running out. The list is not ending here, but no need in those unpleasant details. All i can say if you are planning a party I would not suggest going there, until your child is probably about 12+. read more

This place puts money before the kids. At all costs. Out dated pop(I refused to sell rusty cans of pop, took it off the shelf then found it back on the shelf on my next shift), dusty uncared for arena with jagged exposed electrical outlets. Broken vests that are programmed to replicate another vests score(which means your kids score is not his score, its just a double). Rip off. Employees aren't to blame, by any means,(at least at the Braid location, those guys work really hard and I know they can't control the rules). They're customer service reflects the negligent management and lack of concern for human beings. I'm not throwing them under the bus, they're running over you with a bus, then doing it in reverse, so long as it makes them a buck. Even the arcade machines don't work, and they have a rule that employees are NOT allowed to put signs up alerting kids of "out of order" games, because they want your kids to put money in, and not get it back. The only technician is the GM. He talks to his employees like he would a person at a bar--that he doesn't like. I worked there but quit because I attempted to let someone use a discount coupon on a day that offered a cheaper rate, my mistake--and their response was, and I can even post a picture of the note if I felt like it, that said "WTF is the matter with you?!?!?" And in my opinion, that's no way to interact with an employee. Go ahead and play laser tag, its fun, but beware, they're going to stay true to their morals. "Their" morals. Save yourself the trouble and don't go. Its been a long time since I worked there, and I wanted to let it go, but too many people I know talk about their poor experience with PL, so I couldn't rest easy until I informed you of the truth. When I attempted to redeem the coupon the clerk told me that we could ONLY use to coupon for the second game for the same person. There were NO RESTRICTIONS on the coupon what so ever, it simply stated " Buy 1 admission and the and get the 2nd admission on us". Our party only wanted to play one game each, but with the restrictions that they placed on the coupon at the counter made this impossible. Complete disappointment! Upon entering I find myself waiting in a long line while one person works the line and two other employees play on their phone and stare off into space. I then drop a large amount of money for a party room and it's only half clean (garbage still on the tables and left over food swept into the corner). They then get the soft drink order wrong and order two medium pizzas when we requested and paid for larges. End result hungry kids. Anytime I addressed my problems the care free, stare off into space, phone playing employees didn't really give a raw a%@. Cant say I was a fan of the customer service at the front desk. We got there around 930 on a Friday night and were hoping to get two rounds of games in since the website says that they are open till 1030. When we asked for just that, the employee stated that he would only allow one round because it was a Friday, he was tired, and he wanted to close early to go home. :-/ He even mentioned that if we each threw an extra 20 at him he would consider staying (??) They have a well thought-out system of a no refunds policy combined with a rule for staff where if an arcade machine is broken they are NOT allowed to put an "out of order" sign up. Great for stealing from unsuspecting kids. They also have a tendency to serve expired cans of pop. So if you go here watch for rust on the coke cans. And cross check your vest numbers on your score sheets and make sure no two vests are duplicates. They sometimes leave broken vests in games. The staff there is great, they work hard and deserve better pay for how much they do but the business is poorly managed read more

Booked a birthday party here after my original reservation at the Langley location was cancelled due to delay's in the Langley location's re-opening. They were helpful in transferring the reservation details over. Mickey was awesome. Laid back guy, but made sure everything was in place for the group of kids. I admired his patience as I am sure after a shift of screaming kids (and perhaps adults), it's difficult to stay composed. He was a one man show, looking after the booking's, as well as setting up the party room, serving the food, and managing the game. Somehow he had the time to carry on an interesting conversation about the history of the company. Pizza / cake was ok...it's not a restaurant...it's a Laser Tag facility. This place should be shut down. I took my kids here last year for my daughter's 15th birthday. I was supposed to receive pizza and ice cream cake as part of the birthday package. The pizza arrived 1 1/2 hours late. The kids were starving! By the time they finally got the pizza, there was only one laser tag game left, and we had forgotten to get their ice cream cake. Ugh, this place is the worst. We went for a birthday party a few months ago and paid for three games up-front; right at the beginning of the second game I slipped in an ENORMOUS puddle in the middle of the arena and sprained my ankle. I went to ask if I could get my money back for the two games I didn't play and they said they were unable to provide refunds for any reason. I contacted head-office, who were quick enough to get back to me and offer us a credit voucher for our next visit (which, they claimed, would be "in the system" and easily redeemed if we gave our name the next time we were in). Fine! We returned a couple of weeks ago for another birthday and they said they had no credit system at all, so it was impossible for us to have any credit. Head office has not returned any of our attempts to contact them since then. Buuuut let's assume you don't much care whether the business is a scam or not. The staff is terrible--both because they're always swamped (huge parties and only ever 2-3 staff on at a time) and because, I suspect, the turnover is so high none of them are invested anyway. Be prepared to wait for a long time just to get a game going, and to be ignored for a long time if you need something. That said, I suppose the arena is pretty good; it's big, multi-leveled, and with lots of good hidey-holes. But watch out for puddles. read more

My group booked two exclusive games (that's $215 per game, and nearly $500 including tax total). There were issues with multiple vests, with attempts to fix it eating into our game time. But okay, whatever. So the first game ended, and we were suited up for our second game. The second game was obviously a lot shorter than the first, and our scores reflected that as well. Everyone's scores were pretty much halved, and someone with a watch told me we were only in there for 10 minutes. A far cry from the advertised "Runs approx 25 minutes in total" on their site. (In practice game time should last 20 minutes, with 5 minutes of suiting up.) And the reason the employee gave us for cutting it short? "Because I thought you all seemed tired." I couldn't come up with such a BS excuse even if I tried. What I think happened was he cut it short because it was near closing and there was still another group waiting to go. But that's what they'll do -- blatantly rip you off $100+ with a BS excuse. Someone in our group was pretty insistent with her complaints, and after several minutes plus getting the manager on the phone, we negotiated one free game to be used at a later date. If it weren't for her, we would've just been herded out unceremoniously. Who wants to put up with that? I've been at this location a few times, and while it was uneventful the first few times, at the first sign of trouble, they WILL screw you over. Go only if you're feeling lucky... read more

This place was a joke!! I booked my son's bday party and it was a disaster from the start. The day before the party they called me to say they had not received my credit card information so my reservation was not confirmed. They told me the day before the party, who does this. The day of the party, I get there and they just looked at me and told me to wait. I was standing around for 10 minutes not knowing whether they had my reservation. Finally they just handled me some cards and expected me to know what to do with them. They were not friendly and not helpful at all. The pizza was terrible, it was burnt and cold. By the time we had the cake it was melted. And the thing that got me, they only provided us with plates for the cake. The kids had to eat their pizza on a paper towel. Played three games - 1st game had two guns that didn't work, 2nd game had the same two guns not working after they were "fixed", 3rd game I took the "fixed" gun so the same boy wouldn't get screwed again --- yup, still broken. The set up is nice -- equipment is awful. Three games with broken guns....given one free pass. I'll just put it with the others to collect dust since we won't be back. My son was going to play the arcade game, game didn't work, i advised the worker behind the counter that the game is not working and I would like the 0.50 back, he advised so sorry I don't have the key and because the light is not on the game it doesn't work, well if it doesn't work then put a Out of Order sign on it. Worst place ever. Do NOT have a party here. I called to book a bd party and was told I had to book it on line and then someone would call me back. But I'm on the phone now, let's just do it. No. I went on the website. You MUST have 2 different phone numbers or you cannot book a party. Then it made me enter one of those weird letter combos to prove I was human. Tried 5 times to enter it and it was correct but it kept saying error. I called during business hours 3 times no answer. Grrrrr. Kid still wanted it there. Finally next day manage to get it into computer. Website says they'll call back within 24 hours. This is Thursday. Saturday I call and am told they won't call on weekends and no explanation why they didn't call Friday. Ok Monday afternoon I am talking to my husband who says I got this message from some guy at planet laser telling me to call him and laughs . I had used his number as the mandatory second number yet they had never called my phone( first number). I go down there on a Monday after noon and it looks as gloomy as it did 10 years ago when my son attended a party there. I walked up to the counter and young kid just stared at me. My 7 year old son was a guest at a birthday party where the age ranges of the guests were 4 to 13 year old. After attending myself as well to see how it ran, I will not be booking his party there. Actually I am now not going to return at all. I felt awful for the kids and awful for the parents who shelled out 500$ for the party. They were embarassed and also ripped off. It started a few days before the party. We were informed by the party host we now needed to arrive 40 min earlier to get set up. OK fine no biggy. Problem was that they never informed anyone what the set up would be. So we get there and have to all take turns registering the kids on these ancient computers. At least five minutes per registration. While supervising the children. Given the fact that the majority of kids were just dropped off and had no parents I assisted In this. To make it even more difficult the computer required date of birth, address, phone number email, emerg contact, postal code and a photo For 25 individual kids. Who obviously don't know all this information themselves lol. Isn't this the staffs job to complete the data entry? I mean every place I've ever been u sign a quick waiver and then the staff input it for u so u don't have to manoever and take turns on the computer system. While supervising 25 rambunctious boys.should send waivers out with the booking so the parents can send them already filled. would make the process a lot less stressful for the kids., parents and staff.walked In and the party hosts had all of their stuff piled on the waiting bench with their newborn baby. no party room yet, no direction. Very grumpy man when I asked where I should go! He says, "why don't u try asking the parents who are paying!" And proceeded to ignore. I am not exaggerating at all he was MAD about something. So u can tell he's getting right stressed by all the boys in there. So eventually he comes out from.behind the desk before all the kids ar registered and bellows out "quiet the hell down before I have to get any louder, and trust me I can get a HELL OF A LOT LOUDER" and smashes his fist down on the game machine!! the parents were shocked. The four year olds lip starts quivering. Trsut me when I say we are not those self entitled parents either that think our kids can do no wrong....but they really were not out of line. They were trying to play the video games but the guy refused to give them change for the machine. The change machine was broken it ate my sons 5$ and the guy said there was nothing he would do about it. :( the other boys were going to share their money and he refused..Said "I don't have enough change for all of u and if I did I would only do it all in one go. so now u have 25 boys, no party room, nothing to keep them occupied, and the parents busy trying to register them, and u have the audacity to verbly assault them for playing. . So onto the laser tag...vests broken and gams cut short. After he went in and yelled at them of course during the safety instructions. "LISTEN UP NO RUNNING NO JUMPING NO SCREAMKNG NO CRYING! OR ILL GJVE U SOMETHING TO SCREAM AND CRY ABOUT!!!" I felt awful for them. The four year old ran out to the host crying and the guy has the nerve to tell him to "man up!" And laughs at him. So the kids r inside playing and the adults are all still crowded on this bench. Well sorry I mean crowded "around" the bench as it was only about 3 feet of space. So the food presents, cake, drinks, decorations etc for 25 kids plus adults is sitting on the filthy floor. The dad approaches the desk and says " hey can we go into the party room now where is it we were told we had it for 2 hours" this again sets off the tyrant "there's three rooms down there take your pick you're on your own!!!!!" Lol ya I don't even know what else to say...then while the kids r still in there he takes off thru the front door. So now there is no supervisor in the facility. I decide to go out front and see wh he is leaving (I honestly thought that was it that he snapped and was leaving for good) he meets some woman in a blue car, hands some money thru the window, and receives something back. Hmmmm.so ya save your money . not a nice experience at all. And like I said I am not one to exaggerate like this. Tke my word. It was awful. He was nasty the place is dirty and dated and dangerous and u do not get what u pay for.how about sending out the waivers beforehand, informing the host upon booking that theyneed to be there early, greeting them kindly, showing them to the space or party room when they kget there , which would also be a good spot to go over the safety rules where they aren't distracted, and not leaving the building. Clean the place fix the equipment and the arena there were jagged pieces of metal everywhere. This place really is that bad.
