When the pandemic broke out, several gyms closed their swimming pools down. One place I know and use to belong to, actually filled their pool in. Planet fitness does not offer a pool, the traditional saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs.What a let down!!! Anyways when things started improving after the pandemic I started searching for a gym with a pool around my area. No luck really. I chose Planet Fitness minutes away. They concentrate on cardio vascular, building or rebuilding strength versus a pool. They do offer a wide variety of workout machinery. I been a member a month tanning beds are never available, people sit on machines for 30 minutes without using them and was asked to get off because someone was saving it for after his other workout and the machines are not clean dusty..and suppose to have training to work on machines but not at this location I would have to travel I got a black card membership and not getting what I paid for im going to quit and go down the street to free gym im not a happy customer and I will not pay the $49 maintenance fee either. "Judgment free zone", Planet Fitness' mantra emblazoned on the walls. They're by far the most affordable gym option in the area coming in at around $10 for a base membership and $20 if you don't want to be nailed down to one location and/or you like to have guests. If all you want are weights and cardio, this is the place to be. It's the one stop shop for typical fitness work given you don't need a pool or free-weights. Frankly the free-weights argument is a little tiresome but to each their own. This particular branch tends to have fewer people vying for the machines so it's a lot easier to get through your routines in a timely manner. I've been to other branches in the area that may seem more upscale or larger but they're generally busy and I'd have to wait a bit or change my routine if I didn't feel like waiting. Like most gyms, expect an uptick of members after New Years but it will die down by March when many people give up on their resolutions. read more

I have subscribed to the basic membership at this location for about a year now and it has been everything I have expected it to be. There is plenty of parking. When I first walk in, I am greeted by somebody at the desk and they either scan my barcode or watch me scan it myself, then they usually thank me and tell me to enjoy my workout! The locker rooms and bathrooms are always clean and calming. The gym itself is well-organized and I have yet to see a strength training machine be out of order. There are usually enough benches - can't complain during peak times, there's not really enough room for more benches. They bring in new strength training machines every so often and it's fun to try them out. One thing I wish the staff would pay more attention to is making sure the weight racks are in proper weight order and that all of the weights are there, especially in the abs & stretching section. There are a ton of cardio machines that are almost always in order. Lately, about half of the TVs are off but I personally don't mind. Gotta be real, if they had subtitles on during Jeopardy, I would stay on the treadmill an extra half hour. Some things I would change but it's out of the hands of the staff due to whatever circumstances- their hours are more limited than other locations, I wish I could work out later on the weekends but they either close at 9 or 7PM. Also, the new treadmills they brought in ARE an improvement from the old ones, but they are kind of annoying. The model that controls speed/incline with the levers as opposed to the buttons are elite and I wish they only had those ones. All in all, I commend all of the managers, staff, and new hires for being so attentive and keeping the place in good shape this past year. read more

It's actually super disgusting of planet fitness to try and trick all of their members into paying by not informing us of when you opened, and also charging us the same amount while the hours of operation have decreased extremely. And have the audacity to charge us an annual fee when the gym has been closed for the entire beginning of the year. People are in this pandemic, don't know where there next dollars are coming from, someone from this company needs to contact me immediately and refund me this annual fee. It's truly the principle , the fact that you all think you even reserve the right to charge your members an annual fee , a yearly fee when this year THE GYM HAS BEEN CLOSED . We have tried out the East Ridge Road location in the town of Irondequoit,NY. After several chances for an improved rating, i am deeply saddened to report the customer service overall was less than acceptable. My boyfriend and I tried to visit on carious days at various times to assure a fair rating, yet the same overall outcome. "Tango" an employee made our arrival disturbing and frustrating as he made it clear females were ushered in without hesitation, as he made his single status well known, and made the feel of a meat market apparent. My boyfriend on the other hand was given a very hard time. He gave "Tango" his phone number to verify his membership, to which Tango snapped~"NOPE!!!THERE IS NO SUCH MEMBERSHIP AND YOU NEEDED TO LEAVE!!!" My boyfriend was extremely shocked and suggested Tango recheck the computer data base. Tango again responded this time loud enough for the entire gym to hear and intentionally embarrassingly. My boyfriend again suggested Tango check the data base as his membership was a Black Card Elite membership, to which Tango demanded he leave immediately and refused to provide any further customer service, and returned his attention to the females within the gym. We contacted the location manager-Winston, on the following business day(Monday), and he assured us he would not only address this situation with Tango, but he "promised to make thing right personally." Several days passed and i returned only to see Tango in the gym, but he intentionally sought me out and shoved me as he walked by. Not consciously aware this was intentionally done i initially ignored him. However it became obviously intentional when he came back in my direction and almost knocked me off my feet. Fearful of his demeanor, and with no staff available to approach~i left. I came back the following day with my adult brother, and personally sought out the assistant manager, Jose, whom assured me Tango wasnt working at that time, but he would personally handle this. He also said he would share the circumstances with the location manager. I explained i had already notified him(Winston) and to no avail. I also shared with Jose that i was disgusted that nothing had been done after notifying the manager, and that i would be cancelling my membership. Terrible customer service, and from a health stand point i am highly alarmed. Staff do NOT ensure equipment is cleaned, and is NOT safe from a COVID stand point. I was medically hospitalized twice during my 1.5month membership. Diagnoses were due to exposure to contaminated equipment. I also notified the Monroe County Health Dept, as this is a hazard to everyone, especially our youth and elderly. read more

The gym is fine. I've observed staff and members maintain the gear clean at all times. The gym is no different than other locations I have been to. As for those complaining about not clean, perhaps they should start truly training instead of chatting and pretending to workout or taking selfies. read more

Your basic gym at a decent price. I've been a member at the RAC and now here. And while there are definitely not the classes or amenities the RAC has, this is a good gym for the price. They have PLENTY of equipment whether you want to do cardio or weights. The place is generally clean. There's a variety of people working out and you really don't feel out of place regardless of your level of fitness. Best of all - the staff isn't pushy. They don't call you or bug you. They greet you when you come in, say good-bye when you leave and answer any questions you may have. This is probably the best part of this gym!! Oh, and the hours. Located conveniently near my work on Ridge Road with plenty of parking. $10 a month is difficult to beat. Good sized gym with tread mills, ellipticals, cycles and your basic weight training equipment. They do offer some classes as well but I have personally never taken them. Clean locker rooms and rest rooms. No foul odors or anything. Good ventilation and massive overhead ceiling fans which keep things cool. Friendly staff. Machines are mostly in good order and they recently got all new treadmills. Personal TV's and iPod controls available on all treadmills. However at any given time half of the TV's are not working properly either due to a faulty remote, sound or just the screen is busted. Can be a big deal or not if you need that. I watch Friends and Seinfeld while running so yes it matters to me. Very busy around 4 pm to 6 pm when people are getting off work and you have to wait for machines. Plenty of free machines at other hours. Open 24 hours on weekdays which is a huge plus for anyone who works nights. Good basic functional equipment machines and weights in a clean friendly environment for 10 dollars a worth is a steal. They do have pizza on certain days of the week for customers free of charge which is kinda ironic but hey it's all about will power to begin with isn't it. Take it as a challenge ;) read more

This planet fitness is terrible. After Covid they shut down an didn't make a single phone call to anyone they opened up. They took money from my account with out my knowledge. When I called to inquire he told me they would refund an suggested I put a freeze on my account. It sounded great as the worse with Covid would be over mid January ( hopefully) however because I was freezing I would not get a refund so I said nevermind, I'll be there an cancel. I went cancelled an when I mentioned what about my refund he looked me dead in my face an said who told you that. You did you idiot.. he said I was a member an couldn't receive one. That's crap an not true. Called my bank to dispute an cancel any access. My next call an letter to corporate. Very unprofessional an just hood. Find a better work out center. The one on Dewey is privately owned, clean an everyone seems respectful, I will be upgrading to LA fitness. We we're out of town and we came in just to do the hydro massage because it's my husband and my "rest day". We came in about 20 mins before close. I was shocked the man and the front counter DID NOT rush us or makes us feel like a burden. He told us someone was in the hydro massage and would set us up with the sit down ones until they were done. He came and got us and told us when the hydro massage was ready. He was super pleasant, and went above and beyond. This was the best experience, I've ever had at any planet fitness including our home one.I wish I could leave 10 stars read more

This is the only PF that I have gone to but I will say this compared to what I see online and hear from friends who live in other towns the East Irondequoit PF is the worst in the county. It is always clean don't get me wrong but it's very small... Compared to the others in the county it is less than an entry level gym... This PF is in surprisingly good shape. I used to go to the one on Dewey Ave, but I work really close to this one, so I transferred memberships. You can't beat the price! The machines are clean and actually work, more are working than at Greece. I remember the one at Dewey would always have one or two broken machines, sometimes more. Here, the machines seem to be in good order. I have seen on many occasions employees/managers going around and vacuuming and cleaning the area, which is nice to see. I don't think I EVER saw that at the Greece location. The paper towels and disinfectant spray for the machines is always stocked. It's rather large and accommodating and there is a vast amount of machines for everybody. Rows of treadmills, ellipticals, stair masters, etc. The front desk has always been helpful and taken my number right away or answered any questions I had about transferring. It's a good location, and so far better than the one on Dewey in Northgate Plaza from my experience so far. I am pleasantly surprised. I gave 4/5 because some of the treadmills systems for TV are little overused, so the earphone plugs have some static or can be spotty. I've only experienced this once, but from reading other reviews it seems common. They must be fixing them quickly, which is good. I would recommend this location. read more

The place is nice but needs improvements. There are few issues: During the winter, they need to constantly clean the salt on the ground and dry out the lockers from people's shoes. Water seeps through and ruins clothes. Most of the TV's don't work, don't have remotes or stuck on one channel. At least get maintenance to fix them. It's embarrassing to see signs on the treadmills and other weight machines that says "out of order" for more than a week, let alone months without repair. Please repair your equipment, it's the number one reason why people go to the gym. Lastly, a nice hello or goodbye with a smile from the staff goes a long way. I feel like most of them are miserable and aren't very friendly. read more

There is nothing wrong with the gym equipment, there is nothing wrong with how clean the gym is, there is nothing wrong with the people trying to better themselves. My problem falls with the staff ! Any good company starts at the top ... the manager is useless, and what happens when a useless manager trains even more useless people ... you get trash. Swearing for any reason good or bad is not acceptable in a business, talking over someone is not an acceptable business practice, talking down to a woman is unacceptable and should never happen. I know you could care less you lost members but I will not be the first one to leave not will I be the last ... but I will be the one to tell you your staff is garbage. Do with that knowledge as you please I could honestly care less, but I will not be returning to this location and I will advise other to drive a little bit further away to find a better atmosphere. read more

Disgustingly dirty. Today is 3rd straight day that the Men's Room is filthy. The handicap toilet is unusable due to feces all over. Shower area is flooded. And yet I have observed the staff just standing around. This isn't normal. This facility has never been what I would describe as well cared for. I visit several days each month. I have been going to the Irondequoit location since they opened. The staff is nice but recently (last few months) all the pegs for the exercise machines have been missing. Very frustrating that you can go to 5 machines trying to work out and not one of them have the pin for the weights. The staff says they are being stolen. I don't understand why someone would want a pin but regardless Planet Fitness needs to figure out something for the honest customers who want to workout. I will look for another gym if something isn't done soon. I am paying for a service I can not use. read more

I went in to get my annual fee refunded today- as I moved and was not using my membership but the crooks here refused to give me back my money. Okay so planet fitness as a whole does have some strange pricing. They claim that you can join them for $10 a month. But when I went it was really $15. That's fine. Still a good deal I just wish they were more transparent with their pricing. However. As far as gyms go I love this one. They don't have a pool or the fancier stuff that maybe some of the bigger gyms have... But you don't come here for that stuff. You come here if you want a simple workout without anyone judging you. I love that this one in particular is never full. There's always machines free and there's no creepy people starring at you. And I love the fact that it's open 24 hours. If I'm at home with anexity and can't sleep... I'll just go to planet fitness and workout. It's awesome. I recommend. Just ask alot of questions about the pricing. read more

My wife and I love this gym. The membership fees are inexpensive and you can't beat the hours. The equipment is still in good shape. Friendly staff. All the treadmills are hooked up to TV's so you can channel surf as you're working out. read more
