This is a great local bike shop! Sean installed an ABUS frame lock on my new bike. This was a bit more than your standard install because the frame came with no mounting points. Sean was able to use rivnuts to mount the lock to the bike, something that requires a specialized tool and the knowledge of how to use it. He also solved a problem that I created when I clumsily stripped the threads in the frame while trying to install a rear rack. He fixed this with a tap and installed the rack. I'm very happy with the service. Planet Cyclery is a pretty cool bike shop to visit. Has a nice 'neighborhood' vibe and tons of top end bikes and gear. read more

We have to be able to re sell the item. If its been opened and installed we cannot re sell that item. Thanks Planet Cyclery" I went back and forth with this seller - asking for store credit- they did nothing. On the chain guide- it claims it accepts exchanges or returns (see screenshot). The chain guide DID NOT FIT PROPERLY, it was clearly an issue with the item. When you purchase online - anything - you have to try it on, see it fits correctly, etc. If it is defected/does not work, you typically can exchange it, return it OR get store credit. The Wolf tooth did not fit correctly, I simply requested a refund or store credit- they would do neither but claim return and refunds . You have to unpackaged something to see if it properly fits and planet cyclery cares more about themselves than what is right. - BUYER BEWARE. read more

TLDR: Ordering online? Buyer Beware! Check your credit card statements and review your order. I initially purchased two 11-speed SRAM cassettes, but called to cancel the order since I wanted to add a 9-speed cassette as well. I received a confirmation on January 18th from customer rep Greg Bethmann via email through Zendesk that they processed the refund. I always review my credit card statements every week, and noticed today, 6 days after they were supposed to have refunded me, that the charge had not been removed. In addition, when I received the cassettes today in the mail, I was missing the 9-speed cassette. WTF? After calling them, they did apologize and finally refunded the $152 charge. And the missing 9-speed cassette? They said that it was backordered. But at least notify me, or for that matter, don't charge people for things that you won't deliver? At least their phone support was responsive. Considering that the charge was supposed to have been refunded 6 days ago, both refunds showed up immediately as pending on my online credit card statement after the call. It's a bit inexplicable and seems shady, though I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt -- but still don't understand why it wasn't refunded then. I do understand that things are a little wonky due to supply chain and staffing issues these days. However, either they have some dysfunctional inventory and payment management systems in place, or poor customer management policies. That said, even though I've previously ordered from them, I don't trust Planet Cyclery, and will no longer purchase from them. read more

I would give them zero stars if this is an option. Do not purchase anything online from this company unless you want a major hassle if you need to return it. My experience with them was absolutely horrific on every front. I purchased several backpacks for my wife and then let her pick out the one she wanted for her birthday. I contacted Amazon within 30 days of the backpack being delivered, but these guys denied my ability to return the item. They told me that I was outside of the 30-day window, which was not true. They were complete jerks, which is really a shock because most bike shops are pretty cool not only in terms of their staff but they're flexible policies. You will, however, find no such courtesies here! Obviously, all they care about is profiting off of you. And, that's fine. We live in a capitalist society. I get it. But, when someone honestly needs to return an item it is not meeting their needs and it's still in perfect condition, don't you think a little accommodation is warranted? If so, do yourself a favor and run away from Planet Cyclery. There are so many good options out there now for purchasing these kinds of items. Don't give your business to accompany that is going to bend you over. read more

This is my go-to bike shop that's near the bike path I often ride. I've been here about ten times for various things like tubes or repairs. Last week it was new tires - I got a set of the Continental 5000s, and had them put the tires on for me. The price of the tire was actually cheaper than on Amazon and installation was very reasonable. The staff is friendly and competent. I definitely recommend this shop if you're in the Broomfield area. And if you're riding Bikeway 36, they are close to the bus station and convenient in the event of a bike emergency. In addition to road bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes, the shop carries a good selection of accessories like shoes, GPS devices, and clothing. read more

Great experience across numerous transactions, interactions, and returns both with their online business and storefront location. Have not used them for bike service so I can't speak to that. But they have a huge inventory and great deals online and I almost always get my purchases the next day even with the free ground shipping option (I live in Denver area). Their website platform is a bit clunky and has a few usability issues but it does the job. Their storefront shop is small by bike shop standards but has had stuff I needed when other places didn't. read more

These guys are the best! I have been taking all of my bikes here since moving to CO 2 years ago. We happened to move a building away from them, so the convenience at the time was pretty stellar. However, it wasn't just the convenience that has me coming back here for all of my cycling maintenance needs. (I moved 15min away and still come back.) They are upfront, honest and super chill. Not arrogant or cocky as some guys can be at bicycle shops. I have brought gravel, road and tri bikes here and they do a great job every time with all of them. read more

Placed an order from Colorado Cyclist, apparently they are now owned by Planet Cyclery so I'm posting this review to both. Poor communication and knowledge/management of their own inventory. Placed order with numerous backordered items so I was expecting a delay, but received no updates when items came in stock to where I had to reach out to check on the order. First response was generic we are waiting on backordered parts and will ship when everything arrives. A few weeks later I check again and was told one specific item was still back ordered. Took about 4 days to respond to my next query if that was the only item still missing; I had to call to get a response. Once confirmed that only one item was missing I asked to have that item removed from the order to ship what was in stock. Later that day received an updated invoice and my credit card was charged. A week went by with no word so I finally called and asked. Gave them my purchase order number and they pulled up the previous information stating the removed item was still backordered. They finally found the updated order and said a different item was showing backordered. How in the world do you go from saying everything is in stock to it's backordered?!? I just canceled the order and will never do business with them. Do not recommend unless they can fix their shortcomings. read more

I never got an used item but they simply are a subpar store. During the pandemic getting a hold of SRAM AXS Red D1 cranksets were nearly impossible, but Planet Cyclery seemingly had them in stock and even below MSRP in my chainring size and crank size. I immediately purchased them and they were promptly delivered. When I got them I noticed they were not in the same packaging the rest of my SRAM AXS parts had come in but didn't think much of it since I was new to SRAM and I took my bike to a LBS to have the crankset installed. I get a call from the shop saying that the crankset was GXP and my bottom bracket was DUB. I look back at my order and the webpage and there was zero mention of GXP or 24mm spindle size. I call Planet Cyclery and they basically said they should have been more clear about the spindle type and they would fix it but they basically wouldn't do anything for me. No discounts and not even an offer for a call tag to send back the cranks. To send back the cranks would have been over $30, thus I decided to just change my bottom bracket to a SRAM GXP for $40 and live with a good GXP system but a system that SRAM stopped supporting on any new releases. Fast forward to 2024 and since I am on a dead GXP system I wanted to get possibly an extra set of SRAM Red GXP D1 cranks just in case mine broke and again Planet Cyclery magically had them on sale for marginally more than just a set of new chainrings would cost, so again I instantly jump on this but this time I never got my crankset. Planet Cyclery claims it was delivered but after checking with my two doorman multiple times I still have gotten it and it has been over a month. I opened a claim and was denied and from Planet Cyclery's standpoint they will do nothing unless they win the carrier claim, thus not only am I out of $300, but I don't have a spare for a dead GXP system that I was suckered into by them originally. read more

Just like any other sport, cycling can be very expensive, especially if you have high end equipment and many bike shops will charge you an arm and a leg for parts and or repairs. I've been going to this bike shop recently and found that the parts are very reasonable, the employees are friendly and the mechanics are knowledgeable. I went to their warehouse clearance sale and found stuff that was up to 80% off their already low price. I happily say that I found my new bike shop and will return for future parts and services. read more

I was helped by Cody, he did a wonderful job on helping me select a new chain for my broken chain, i.e. the correct size and also recommend changing the cassette which I did and suggested a couple different chain lubes, which I purchased the rock 'n' roll lubrication. Terrible place! I brought my bike in for a cleaning and tune up and they didn't even clean it thoroughly. The first thing I saw was dust and dirt all over the rubber cover of my shocks and the guy told me " well, we don't usually clean that part on your level of cleaning, you would need to buy the more expensive package. " What the? I pad 100$ to get it cleaned and tuned, I didn't realize all of my bike wasn't included. Poorly managed and run bike shop! read more

I also had a few phone calls with them and they are helping resolve the situation in the best of their ability. Their team is empathetic and try to come up with solutions. Ordered a helmet on eBay. Took over 3 or so days to show any sign of shipping. After a few days with no update I decided to take it upon myself and reach out to get an update. They replied back to me 2 more days later telling me the helmet is back ordered and there is no ETA in sight and that this message should have been brought to their attention from the "fulfillment" crew they have. They proposed to either cancel the order or keep the order until they have the helmet in stock. I immediately replied with "please cancel order" I THEN went online and bought the same helmet elsewhere because I have an important trip coming up. That following night I get a notification saying the helmet has shipped and is on route to my house AFTER telling them to cancel the order because no inventory or ETA of when they will be getting it. Since then, I have emailed this business over 2 times. Sent over 4-5 messages to them on eBay. They are completely ignoring me and the situation. So first they gave premature information on not having stock and not knowing when they will. Now they are ignoring me and obviously found a helmet to ship to me and are continuing shipping after they proposed to cancel and I confirmed to cancel. Think twice before you deal with this business simply because they lack communication and lack knowledge of their inventory. A lot of my frustration would have simply been resolved if they had BETTER & FASTER communication. Absolutely do not recommend this business. I took my bike there for a routine tune up. I also got a new tube and inner liners to prevent flats. 3 days after I got it back, I got a flat. Tube wasn't installed properly, got pinched at the valve stem and popped. They gave me any bs excuse as to why it wasn't their fault! From porous rubber to suggesting im fat. Bought a helmet from them it did not fit, the return process was basically send it yourself, After I spent 52 dollars to ship a helmet from NJ to Colorado, I mentioned how much I had paid and they said, "you should have asked for a shipping label it would have been alot cheaper and we would have just deducted it". The ordering process was smooth and I was surprised to find that I still qualified for free shipping since I live in AK and this was a large item. When I called soon after placing the order to make sure I wasn't "dreaming" they told me that yes, there was a glitch in the ordering process & it shouldn't have been free shipping. BUT they still honored it since the cart allowed me to make that purchase - awesome! Planet Cyclery doesn't have very reliable shipping. Two weeks ago I ordered a pair of snow tires with free, 2-day shipping but it never arrived. A week later I called and found out that it never even went through their system. I tried ordering again with two-day shipping, but 4 days later I called and found out that it's actually 2 business days later, not two actual days (I ordered it over the weekend.) This shop provides the variety in accessories and bikes that a large shop would offer with the close knit relationship and comfort of a small shop. I was helped by Cody during my visit.
