I'd love to to give them a better review, but I got food poisoning from an undercooked Turkey burger to the point where I had a temp, hot and cold chills, had a bucket while on the toilet & dehydrated and came very close to passing out. What's worse is that we were staying in a hotel so I wasn't even in the comfort of my own home. This was our 1st visit, we got a plain burger well done with bacon and regular French fries for my husband. I got the BLT burger no avocado ( highly allergic) with truffle fries. We got back to the hotel ( 6min) and started eating because we just had a 2hr ride. I took 3 bites of my sandwich and put it down. The texture was off and when I looked, it was still pink. For anyone that doesn't know turkey has to be cooked well done. Our food took 10 minutes which should have been the first sign, they were busy and only had a very nice girl working the front. When she asked a waiter to help her for a minute he actually refused and I was pretty surprised. The French fries were good, but my husband was not impressed with his burger either. When we come back to the area, I don't think I'll be making a stop here, though our friend who live nearby say we should go and sit down if we come back. I feel like if you can't cook a burger correctly , I'm not sure I should try again. I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but it happened and someone got extremely sick because of it. The only reason I finished it was because I didn't eat all day. They have a saying "Good Booze - Great Burgers". I would rewrite that "Great Booze - Mediocre Burgers". My bacon cheeseburger deluxe came with one piece of bacon that was torn in half. None of the condiments it said on the menu were on it. I had to self apply those apparently. Everyone always raves about this burger bar, but they always complained about prices. However, I finally decided to give it a shot a couple of weeks ago. Firstly: I did not find anything wrong with the prices, personally. I felt they were right in line with most burger joints. Obviously chain restaurants offer burgers at a cheaper price, but the quality isn't the same. I did not mind spending the cash for what I got. Average burger place. The drinks are good and they have a lot of mix drink options. We got the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer. They were different then we expected (half a jalapeño stuffed with cheese bacon and ranch while we were expecting the typical fried poppers). With that being said, they were still good! The menu is reasonable, it generally has received good reviews and is Zagat rated. I figured it was a sure winner. Let me start out by saying the service is wonderful. The staff was nice and accommodating during our entire visit. We were seated within a few minutes on a late Sunday afternoon, though there were a decent amount of empty tables/booths available at the time. They do have a good selection of beers including some great craft beers. We ordered our food which included the West Coast Burger (Fried egg and avocado), a chicken sandwich and a grilled cheese sandwich. Fairly simple order...three sandwiches all with fries or tots. The wait, while not busy, was about 40 minutes. The food finally came out and looked great so I was hooping it was "worth the wait"...it wasnt. The burger was cooked to my requested "some pink" but the meat was not seasoned. Basic salt and pepper would have made the world of difference. The chicken sandwich was ?!ground chicken?! as opposed to actual chicken breast. Again not seasoned, it was not worth the wait. I was expecting more from $14 sandwiches. The grilled cheese was the winner of the bunch as they stuck to the basics. The sides were also good, but I would imagine saying that somewhere has good fries or tater tots isn't gonna really draw many crowds. Plan B is the right name for the Springfield restaurant. It's where you go when everyone else is to busy. Went there last night and was told it was a 45min wait even though there were 7 tables empty. No sense of urgency in the wait staff. 3 hostess standing around and not helping buss tables. After almost an hour we get seated at a table that had been empty the entire time! While the service was fair as was the aesthetics of the dining being comparable to that of an ordinary sports bar, the food was expensive and boldly mediocre. We had the opportunity of trying 6 of the burger offerings--their self-proposed specialty--and each was at best poorly-conceived and low-quality. Their worst offering was "the squealer," a soggy beef and pork patty afflicted with the over-powering astringency and bitterness of whole mustard seeds in between mushy buns and tomatoes slices, which was like a war crime against the taste buds. The fries also exhibited the characteristics of a careless kitchen, flavorless without salt and only with sprinkled Parmesan. We had intended the day we had the misfortune of eating here to visit Wahlburger but they were short staffed, so it seems that Plan-B lives up proudly to its name. Went to this location last night. We were told the wait would be 15-20 mins. We waited for 15 mins when a party of 6 or 7 walks in. Instead of taking us and simply separate tables they took the larger party. I understand larger parties are harder to seat but when people are waiting they do take note. This larger party did not call in. We then waited 8 mins more. We had a waiter by the name of Stanley he was right on top of everything. His primary concern were us as customers. He's a hustler and makes sure his customers are kept happy. I ordered a cheese bacon burger in the grass it was busy so we did wait a bit for the food. I was real surprised that when I finally got it, it was not hot. I didn't mention it because I was too hungry at this point. My daughter ordered their Shepard's pie. The portion was large but it definitely lacked flavor. During our whole meal there was a broom with floor crumbs in a pile that was leaning on the nearby table. Not very sanitary in my option. Very blanIf it wasn't for Stanley's excellent service skills I probably would have rated this review a 2. I am now updating my review to reflect my return visit to give them another try. My husband and I went in and had the sweetest most courteous and very attentive waitress by the name of Hasinni she was amazing. The onions were cold and tossed on like an after thought. When I asked for the garlic aioli he said they didnt have it but it was on the menu and that's what I always get. He brought me miracle whip. If they didn't have the aioli she should have told me when I placed the order. My husband's fries came out cold they looked as if they were sitting all day. We asked for the manager he was nice and asked if I wanted anything else. I declined because after 11pm the menu is limited and I didn't trust what the cook would send out next. The music was good. Scene - b/c I'm a bitch, I'll call it Western Mass-chic - dimly lit bar, exposed rough wood, those obligatory old school light bulbs that convey "style" - full of hot young things on group dates (appropriate attire ranging from faux Herve Leger bandaid dresses + requisite facial piercings + stripper heels to hoodies and Old Navy's hottest female carpenter-esque denim), a few families with teens, and couples getting their date on - in short, it was legitimately hopping in a way for which I was unprepared. As it was appx 4h s/p my normal dinner time and I was hangry, we elected to skip apps, many of which sounded TGIFriday's-tastic (baked jalapeno poppers, wings, buffalo shrimp, lobster hush puppies) and dive head first into din - M went for a burger I don't remember. It looked meaty and was apparently satisfying - and like a good Jew, K hit the "squealer" - a half pork/half beef treat topped w bacon, pickles, cheese, etc - surrounding tables also had the "3 shrooms" burger (sauteed muschrooms, portobello spread + truffle mayo) and the Baja burger (avo, jalapenos, tomato, cheese, chipotle spread), all of which looked as though it was enjoyed. I should note that I actually respect that if you're doing a burger, they have 20ish options, including veggie and tuna burgers - and of the beef choices, it's all hormone/abx-free meat - and many of the burger toppings sound dec (fried egg, avo, kalamata olives) - but they lose major points for only offering burgers "some pink" or "no pink" - I mean, it's been hella long since I've eaten one, but I'm like 99% sure that it's only appropriate to order a burger rare, M/R, med, well-done, etc - overly dumbing it down is kind of a buzz kill. Regardless. Oh, our sides of steak fries and tater tots were cripsy and blisteringly hot, though I missed salt on those bad boys the way that Sting's desert misses the rain. Desperately. Plenty of entree salads if you're watching your weight for Spring Break - and my tuna entree, while bland, was only mildly offensive, and the greens on which it came made up for some serious vitamin deficits I've been rocking since starting my medicine rotation. Other non-burger mains include steak frites, mac & cheese, meatloaf, and some other chicken stuff I don't remember. This is my third Plan B Burger Bar. I really loved the Hartford, and the Simsbury was great too. This place is beautiful, and right next to the Basketball hall of fame. SO here the service was really a cut above. I ate in the bar and the sports TV's are wel placed around the room. The Service was fast and beautiful. I as checked on by several others in the staff during my simple meal. I had the Cuban burger and admit I am hooked. Tasty, juicy, tender, flavorful and a real full meal. Would I go Back? Of Cousrse. I went with my significant other and a couple friends of ours on 4/9/22. This was not our first visit, and we do enjoy it. This trip was different. The sense of urgency was not there when it came to the hostess who was slowly strolling around. She was very sweet to us, as my wife is pregnant, and made sure to sit us comfortably. Our server was obviously new, which is no issue. She was very bright and extremely attentive. The restaurant was obviously short-staffed, as the surrounding tables and ourselves were slow to be taken care of. We ordered the Firecracker Cauliflower for our appetizer. 1/4 of the Cauliflower was chicken. It remains unclear as to how that happened, but at any rate we ate what we could. We watched the tables surrounding us get their appetizers and were also seemingly dissatisfied. We all received our dinners. 3/4 Entree's were incorrect to some varying degree. My pregnant wife requested a very well cooked burger (for obvious reasons) and received a raw one. Our friends received a burger that didn't have half the ingredients, and the other with deeply burned toppings. All the while, surrounding tables were visibly experiencing what we were. After telling our waitress about the experience, she was able to get the Manager for assistance. The manager was seemingly defeated. She explained that there were call outs and the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up. The manager was nice enough to remove several food items that were incorrect/inedible from our respective bills. At the end, when we received our checks, I was speaking to the waitress. This was her first job and only in her third week. She was hired as a hostess, and was thrown into waitressing the night prior. When she showed up that night, she was told it was good enough and sent her on her way. Poor thing was on the verge of tears when we expressed our appreciation of her. I witnessed multiple hostesses meandering about throughout the evening with the same lackluster energy and urgency that was seen before. There was no direction to these employees whatsoever. As we were leaving, the manager appeared to be more concerned about a Starbucks beverage she was holding than what was going on for the guest experience. Not sure if the restaurant is under new management, but this is not consistent with how we've been taken care of there before. I'm giving this a two star in hopes that this opens some eyes. Made my first visit to Plan B burger bar this past weekend, and I was not disappointed. I got the portabella burger with pickles added and "green fries" (they are flash fried green beans, not breaded. Finally, an alternative to the french fry! I was very happy.) My boyfriend ordered a basic hamburger with added cheese and no onions. They brought him a cheeseburger with onions, but noticed immediately and tried to take the dish back. He's a pretty easy-going guy, so he told the waiter not to worry about it, and just took the onions off his burger and gave them to me. Someone (either the chef or a manager) came out a few minutes later and was like, "So I heard you got onions...?", all apologetic. We were impressed how much they seemed to care--another restaurant not only wouldn't even NOTICE the oversight, but they wouldn't send a second person over to be doubly sure everything was okay. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Plan B is the best place in the Greater Springfield area for a burger. If you narrow that selection down to $10 hamburgers at places with full liquor licenses (there are a couple of good, ambiance-free options in Enfield, CT & West Springfield, MA that don't need naming here) then Plan B is the hand's down winner. Now that they're at the Hall of Fame, it seems almost obvious - Duh, there should be a hamburger place really near the Basketball Hall of Fame. And, they have chili. Slam Dunk. Overall, it was a good meal. The Big burgers were delicious. The deep-fried (unbreaded) salted rosemary string beans were an American homage to edamame (look it up) . The table service was capable, pleasant, and attentive - if not a little bland. We discussed, inconclusively, whether our server was named Chavez, Caitlin, or Britney - without conclusion - since we never did catch her name and she wasn't saying. Regardless, our server capably took our order and delivered a really enjoyable meal in a timely manner, without error. Eat here. Go early. We went on a Tuesday and crowds were forming by 5:30. If you can do anything to enhance your appetite before going, you will enjoy the enormous, tasty, creative burgers even more. This is without a doubt my favorite hamburger restaurant. We occasionally traveled to West Hartford, CT for a Plan B burger but now with one in Springfield we are frequent patrons of Plan B. The ambience is a little funky with meat hooks as light fixtures and the restaurant acoustics are a little loud. In the evenings, especially the weekend nights, be prepared to wait for a table. For a burger, it is a little pricey, but well worth it. I am a huge fan of the Veggie burger. I am not a vegetarian but this is as good as any burger. When I am in the mood for a "real" burger the shroom burger is wonderful. My family always orders a variety of the fries for the table. The Parmesan fries are great. The green fries (literally fried green beans) are a family favorite. The beer menu is extensive. We always order the micro brews from the on tap menu. The service is always friendly although during the busiest hours I have found a need to ask twice for water or some secondary thing. All in all, I am a big Plan B Burger fan! read more

The portabello burger was the best I've ever had and I'm still dreaming about the peanut butter cup pie we ate. Service was very friendly and personable, but a little slow at times. I am surprised I haven't written a review for Plan B yet. I am a fan of this place. It gets crowded and most often than not, the wait here is so long! The bar is always busy although they do a pretty good job at getting to everyone at a reasonable time. Depending on the bartender, the drink is either strong or weak. Beer on tap is pretty good. Service here can be good or it can be bad. It really depends on the server you get. I have experienced both. But I come back because the food here is good. My favorite burger is the Squealer because who doesn't love pork and beef together. I don't recommend the shepard's pie unless you like mashed potatoes. The portion is 3-1 potatoes. It also only comes mixed with corn? Whhhat? The mac and jack is great though. Appetizers are delicious. The veggie tots are a bit weird though. A destination I really struggled with the rating here. The atmosphere is great, the crowd is exciting (if you enjoy a packed house). the food is good, the service average. Burgers: Better than a lot of places, but if I was going purely for a great burger I'd chose Max Burger in Longmeadow, then Plan B (Plan B being my plan b). A couple burgers in my party seemed under-cooked (and the place was packed, maybe the cause). I ordered no pink and had no problem. Prices: Understanding you aren't going to a fast food place or 5 guys, prices were solid. Nothing extravagant in my opinion. Quality of the ingredients were high. Service: This is their best opportunity for improvement (but judging by the crowd, don't think they are to worried). The hostesses were working very hard. They were friendly when you engaged them, but otherwise avoided eye contact (aka didn't take the initiative, likely due to the crowd). The wait staff was ok to below average. Couldn't wait to try this place and finally did. Amazing and classy decor except for the freaky meat hook light fixtures. Service was prompt and friendly. I couldn't wait to sample some of the awesome beers on tap, but was i annoyed when they had no list of what was on tap, and the waitress had to keep reading the list off. The burgers were awesome. I asked for no pink in the burger, but their still was some in the middle. I can't wait to go back and try other things and other beers! Went back the next day. I've been to the Plan B in West Hartford & Glastonbury dozens of times, I really enjoy their burgers and specials, this place however might as well have a different name. Not only do you get sub-par service but the food was horrible. My friend got sick there two weeks prior to me going, but I blew it off and just thought it was a bad experience...until NOW. My friend and I ordered burgers, some pink. They both came back NO PINK, and VERY dry. So we sent them back, they came out again 15 minutes later, still NO PINK. It wasn't as dry but it still was not what I had ordered. When I bit into my burger I noticed they had practically scraped all of the grill residue into the burger (my burger was crunchy & gritty) and the mushrooms on top of my burger were ice cold and tasted as if they were cooked in nothing but salt. It was horrible, I told my waitress and she took it off the bill but i left the restaurant hungry.
