After…read morebeing a client for over 27 years, paying $4,000 each summer for weekly cleanings of an inground pool, plus paying them to open and close the pool each year, and replace liners, plus buying all supplies from them, thinking they were trustworthy, finally had cameras to prove they only cleaned for less than 11 minutes, didn't shock the pool like they were supposed to, didn't vacuum it well, left a valve closed, and the pump on, which burned up the motor. They charged $500 for a new motor, that they destroyed, and left wires hanging out on the new motor, plus, left the valve closed AGAIN, but turned the pump on running without water. Claimed they shocked it this time, yet 4 days later, a more reliable pool company said the chlorine level was almost zero!!!When contacted, they came and covered the wires they left exposed, and said they would go back and discuss what to do about this situation with the other owners, but didn't call back. When we called them, Kathy at first, acted as though she didn't know what we were taking about, then said her employees did not do anything wrong, and instead of taking care of their mistake, Kathy actually used the words that she was "firing" my mother as a customer. Oh, and I also found out that another pool place charges less than $300 for that motor, that should have been replaced for free, since they are the ones that burned up the first one, and possibly shortened the life of the new motor. Other family members tried to call, but Kathy was rude to them as well, told them she already fired my mom, then hung up on them, and said she was calling her lawyer on them. I've never heard of a business tests people so ugly, nor one that doesn't even consider that maybe their employee may have made a mistake, and maybe, a loyal customer for over 27 years, should be believed, and not treated this way.

From design, construction management, the quality of the contractors and their work to the quality control, I was informed and prepared every step of the way through completion. This was a large project with multiple contractors in addition to A&S. They worked with me to ensure everything was completed in a timely manner and accommodated my schedule as needed when other parts of the project had be completed before A&S could move forward. There were no major obstacles during construction and it was easy to work through the small, normal hiccups you deal with during construction. I can't say enough good things about A&S. There are not a lot of gunite pool contractors in RVA and A&S was clearly the most thorough when I was choosing a contractor while having a very competitive price. Special shoutouts to Colin for being on site over 25 times to put eyes on each phase of construction and ensure the work was done properly before moving to the next phase. Chloe is an absolute rockstar handling scheduling and direct communication with me to keep me informed of when contractors would be coming and what exactly would be happening while they were on site. She was proactive initiating communication with me and I never once had to chase her down if I needed to speak with her. With a background in construction myself I did months of research prior to meeting with A&S, but our designer Tom helped me dial in the design. We worked through some specific site challenges and concerns. His attention to detail and ability to work through those obstacles ensured there were no surprises or unexpected costs later in the project. I only had to speak with Vicky, the construction manager, once and she listened and handled my concern swiftly. Thank you Terrance for starting up my salt cell and answering a few quick questions I had after a month of living with the pool. Lastly, a very appreciative shoutout to the contractors Chris, TSG, E&J and especially Tanner for always taking the time to work with me to make sure everything was done properly the first time and how I wanted it. They quickly diagnosed the issue, replaced a leaking ozone system, and verified full operation. My spa was up and running in under an hour! Outstanding service from highly skilled technicians at a very reasonable cost. I've learned most spa distributors in the Richmond, VA area rely on Southern Spa Service for their service calls. They're in high demand, so scheduling takes patience--but it's absolutely worth it for Southern Spa's expertise and reliability. If you need professional, knowledgeable techs at fair prices, this is the company!

I can't say enough good things about Douglas Aquatics…read more I've been a customer for over a year, with weekly hot tub service during the winter and bi-weekly service during the summer, and the experience has been consistently excellent. My regular technician, Butch, is awesome--reliable, knowledgeable, and genuinely great to work with. Over time we've developed a solid personal relationship, which says a lot about the kind of people Douglas Aquatics employs. Today really stood out. I called with a chemical issue, and within 90 minutes, Joy, the new service coordinator, and John, the service manager, personally showed up at my house. That kind of response time is almost unheard of and speaks volumes about their customer-first orientation. Joy has been absolutely wonderful since taking over my account--responsive, thoughtful, and clearly focused on making sure customers are taken care of. John is a true chemical magician. He diagnosed and fixed the issue in about 10 minutes, but what impressed me just as much was how he handled the moment. He took the time to mentor Joy during the visit, walking her through exactly what he was doing and why. At the same time, he did an excellent job explaining the issue and solution to me as the owner in clear, layman's terms, which I genuinely appreciated. Douglas Aquatics is an honest, service-driven business that invests in both its people and its customers. The hot tub is crystal clear, and I can't wait to use it tonight. They have absolutely earned my continued business. Highly, highly recommend.

After visiting some of the pool companies in the area and finding out they just contract their work out to a list of contractors, I felt I had found my pool people with a local, family feel. Kevin ( the son) met with me one evening and we signed a contract 30 minutes later. It was a great decision on my part. Knowing nothing about pools, Kevin patiently explained why some of my ideas were not ideal. He had some great counter suggestions complete with pics and brochures. We settled on a design that maximized my pool size while fitting perfectly into my layout. They came out, worked hard, in sometimes very wet conditions to get the job done. Three years later I couldn't be more pleased. It has become the family hub for summer fun. I have a grandson that now moves in for the summer to stay in the pool! Kevin also "has a guy" to do the concrete, electrical and pool heater needs. The few times I've had to call Kevin with any issues he has either come out quickly or contacted the electrician or heating guy for me and then they showed up promptly and solved the issue. I also call Kevin every year to open and close the pool for me including putting on and removing the pool cover. So if you're looking for a pool company call Pleasure Pools, talk to Kevin's mom. She'll send her son out to take great care of you!
