Chicken was very tender and you can tell that they marinated the chicken before cooking it. I saw buffalo wings and tacos coming out of the kitchen. I didn't see that on the menu. I suggest you ask if there are any specials for the day. For my drinks, at first I tried their rum punch and it had a nice flavor. The punch they use gave it a unique flavor. After that, I stuck to Margaritas for the rest of the night. Their Margaritas were good too, not too tart. They had a DJ who was mixing up a variety of hits for everyone. The mixologist was very pleasant and did an awesome job at making drinks and mingling with the crowd. I will definitely come back now that they are expanding on the weekly events.

Took a chance and ordered for delivery, choosing the Catfish Sliders and an order of Buffalo Wings. The sliders were much better than I expected and were built heftily on toasted buns. Nice touch. The wings were pre-Covid sized and not those emaciated wings with no meat on them...very tasty. Everything arrived neatly packaged, still hot and fulfilled our hunger. Curious about the restaurant itself, I took the time to stop by and was impressed with the interior and how clean the restaurant looked. An additional plus, unlike most of the fast food Chinese restaurants in our area, they have ample seating available for dine-in. Based on this positive experience, I wouldn't hesitate ordering from Empire Express again.

Made a reservation for (10/11/23), we arrived and the place was welcoming. The ambiance was great (it was large and well lit). We got seated super fast and were given the menu. They had a DJ that was playing some good music. The vibe was just right. We started with "Call Me an Uber and a Rum Punch" both were perfect and not overly alcoholic. For appetizers we got "Fried Calamari and Pepper Shrimp" both were tasty. For the entree got "Red Snapper with Rice and Peas and "Lamb Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes" and again they were well seasoned and tasty. Got another drink and decided to go with the "Sorrel Moscow Mule". Ended with "Red Velvet Cake with Ice Cream". Who knew this place would pack such big flavors. Our server and manager were great. Will definitely be returning and will definitely tell others about this place.

Updated: 05/09: I was finally able to order the jerk chicken via ubereats. Yay! As usual, they followed all order notes. And the jerk seasoning was spot on. Spicy and yummy. The rice and peas was tender and they added extra jerk sauce just like I've requested. Next up; curry goat.

During the game, the restaurant got extremely crowded which made our experience not great. We waited over an hour for food and drinks. The kitchen was definitely overwhelmed. Ordered: Malt (~$4)…read moreMango Juice (~$5) Chicken Suya (~$15) Street Waakye (~$25): rice & beans served with gari, spaghetti, tomato stew and black sauce (shito); fried fish and goat stew Jollof Queen (~$25): spicy, well-seasoned tomato stew rice served with salad, sweet plantains, and chicken Aya's take: I'm a big fan of African cuisine and this was my first time at a sit-down Ghanian restaurant! They have a DJ so if you're looking to vibe while enjoying Ghanian food, this could be the spot. It was my first time trying Malt and the best way I can describe it is it tastes like molasses, slightly bitter, slightly yeasty but very mild overall. We started off with the Chicken Suya which was a bit dry and chewy but the suya seasoning made all the difference. It tastes like a blend of chili powder, ginger, garlic, onion powder, paprika, etc. It was a fine starter but definitely skippable. For entrees, we got the Street Waakye and Jollof Queen. I've had waakye (pronounced waa-che) before but this was pretty dry. The spaghetti was light and I actually liked that they used thinner noodles rather than the regular spaghetti. This dish comes with fried fish which was light, flaky, and moist. The real winner was the goat stew. I'm salivating just thinking about it! You get the essence of tomato, the tenderness and slight gamey flavor from the goat, and the thick and luscious sauce that was an explosion of flavors. I even dipped the boiled egg into the sauce which was unbelievably satisfying. The jollof rice from the Jollof Queen was cooked way better than the waakye. It was moist, well-seasoned, and didn't really need anything added to be good. I loved the sweet plantains and the chicken was also well-prepared. Considering how much jollof rice there was and that it was ~$25, they could've given more than 2 pieces of chicken. Overall, it was a pretty good meal! When the bill came, I saw there was an automatic 18% gratuity added which is totally fine considering we were a party of 7. However, they then pointed out that this wasn't tip and was a fee for "the table". I eat out a lot and never in my life have I heard of this. We ended up adding another 10% on top of that. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. I don't agree with them trying to squeeze out more money from customers who are already coming and spending money; this is definitely not the norm anywhere else I've been. Not too many restaurants in NYC serving Ghanaian cuisine but you'll enjoy some traditional dishes here.

When I first tried the food I was very impressed. The flavors were hitting, and that warm cup of broth with the shredded meat inside was all so yummy. The guys who worked the truck were pleasant as well. I would get extra sauces and onions free with no problem. Now after purchasing many tacos, tostadas, and the consommé, I'm just not crazy about the beef. It's too fatty for me. I think it needs to be trimmed more. It's my preference. I don't like to eat any chunks of fat and lately when I've visited that's what I've been receiving. I don't think I will eat here much anymore, I still will give a thumb up for flavor and customer service, but they should work on the meat. Happy Yelping!
