PJ's of Fairfield

I frequent this location when in the area. Service is always quick and the workers are friendly. The New Orleans theme is evident throughout with very festive Mardi-Gras decor. Today, I tried their protein velvet ice which I had been wanting to try and it was pretty good! Something new on the menu are their "Energy" teas which are infused with Red Bull They are constantly changing and adding to their menu which I love

It's a good cup of coffee with a mid dine-in experience. I'd say my honey oat milk latte was correctly made - long finish, not bitter, not syrupy. Not mind-blowingly good, but more than acceptable. I wish that they had offered ceramic cups for dine-in. I found the front of house quite trained and attentive. The cashier ensured that I clarified whether I wanted a hot or iced drink. At the handoff plane, the barista made eye contact to confirm that I was getting the right drink. The vibe is a bit commercial, given the shiny cleaning-friendly seating, two walls of merch, and clearly fake wood grain on the floor. On a Saturday around 11a, it was only me and a couple for dine-in, with a steady stream of 1-2 people in line at the register for to-go orders.

I always enjoy the coffee here, and they offer a great selection of food to pair with your coffee or tea. There's plenty of indoor seating, making it a comfortable spot to relax. I tried the red velvet coffee and really liked it. They've recently added a pickup window, which is very convenient. The service is fast and friendly, and I'll definitely keep coming back to try more items.

I decided to stop by PJ's. I haven't been here in over a year. I arrived 20 min before closing yet it seemed like it was 5 min before. They had only one flavor of coffee, Santa's Helper. The cream was put away so I had to ask for it. The seats were already up on the tables. It was very disappointing going here today. I may or may not be back. I only recommend you go many hours before closing.

The peach palmer is delicious! I'm covering in powered sugar and it's 100% worth it. Please pass the beignets!

Cinnamon honey latte

First time at PJs yesterday for a quick coffee, never had been and it was the best! I didn't know what to get for a drink and I asked the barista and she recommended her favorite honey and cinnamon and it was so good! She was very welcoming and accepting of new customers, a great coffee shop! Some coffee shops make you feel weird if you don't know what to order but not here. The shop was also really cute loved the decorations and ambience, soft music not too loud perfect for getting work done! Would recommend!

Cafe du Monde it is not but still a notch above Cafe Beignet, at least when it comes to beignets. Coffees are ok and the New Orleans vibe is a bit forced and you really can't shake the feeling your on good ole Route 46; not on the banks of the Mississippi but when you have the craving there's a place to satisfy it.

I kept driving past this place on the highway so I decided to finally stop in, boy am I glad that I did! I ordered an iced café mocha and it was both strong and delicious. I love the decor inside it was very New Orleans theme, so cute. I ordered the cinnamon roll and an apple caramel crumble, wow they actually heated up my pastries without me having to ask, definitely love this place it's the little things and I will be back!

We actually arrived an hour before opening, but the owner -- who was sitting outside with another person -- greeted us with a big smile and invited us in anyway. He asked where we were from and spoke passionately about crafting his flavors fresh every day, using real ingredients. You could tell he genuinely cares about the experience. He offered us a sample of a dragon fruit flavor he was experimenting with -- it was light, clean, and bursting with natural fruit flavor. No artificial aftertaste, just smooth, refreshing perfection. We ended up ordering the pistachio baklava, and it was hands-down one of the best gelatos we've ever had. The pistachio was rich, nutty, and full-bodied -- not that artificial green stuff you get in most places. The baklava pieces added just the right amount of texture and sweetness, without overpowering the balance. It was creamy without being too heavy, and every bite made you want to slow down and savor it. There was also plenty of parking, and we got to sit outside to enjoy our treat in peace. We never felt rushed -- just welcomed and appreciated. We were so caught up in the moment, we forgot to ask his name -- but his kindness and passion won't be forgotten. This place is a gem. If you're looking for authentic, thoughtfully made gelato, this is it. We'll definitely be back -- probably with friends. *Update: We went back to Bosa Gelato last night and loved the experience even more. The place was very active and spotless, even during the final hour before closing. We shared a cone with strawberry and mint chocolate -- both flavors were delicious! The mint had a refreshing cooling effect without any lingering aftertaste, and the strawberry was perfectly sweet without being overpowering. The two young ladies working were super friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It was lovely to see the shop so lively at night!

I ordered a large latte with cinnamon, a croissant for chocolate chip cookies and a heated cinnamon roll. All this took 20 minutes to get. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed by the amount of people and took very long time to fulfill the order. Which was unfortunate because the coffee is actually pretty good, and it looks like they have a lot of events at this space that would be fun to come back to. Like a poetry open Mike game nights art painting. But the care in service leaves a lot to be desired. The cinnamon roll was soft and tasty and not overly sweet, which I appreciated and the chocolate chip cookies were also very good. the croissant was smashed inside the take away container as an afterthought and not with any care. This is something that I believe warrants attention by Management to train the staff. And waited essentially 25 minutes after ordering for

The mascarpone, the shot of coffee, the sweetness of the creame all play exquisitely well together. - Fruit Tart - 4/5 stars. Fresh berries were ripe and sweet. The crust was not soggy, at all. The custard was smooth and exceptional. - Creme Brulee - 4.5/5 stars. Not overly sweet and pure bliss. The top lager of touched crust, didn't hold up to the travel, sadly. It was soft but still delightful. - Custard cup - 4.5/5 stars. This reminded me of a Portuguese egg tart but better. - Giant horn - 5/5 stars. The outside crust was flaky and perfect. They brought with them the best of mostly southern Italian and Sicilian pastries, cakes, and cookies. These delicacies all share a mixed past, some equally as French as they are Italian, and others showing Arabic-Sicilian influence. Many of the items continue to be made in the Italian tradition, while others have morphed into something uniquely Italian-American. Located off 46 East in Fairfield, this family-owned and operated establishment, founded in 1962, is one of our favorites for sweet desserts and Italian pastries. Upon arriving on this Christmas Day at Calandra's Italian and French Bakery, a steady stream of patrons entered its door to an interior space big and nicely designed, awaiting their turns on several available lines. On display in their numerous cases, there were cookies to cannolis, an assortment of cookies, pies, cakes, custom cakes, jarred sauces, and homemade pasta. I decided on a coconut custard pie, a pecan pie, and several pasteis de nata. Everything was so good and simply amazing, with a variety of freshly baked goods that cater to all tastes, especially the pasteis, just how the bakeries in Newark's Ironbound district make them. Will definitely be returning here for the next event.
