SPOILED BIRTHDAY, DISGUSTING DESSERTS, THE SMALLEST PIZZA FOR $25 I'VE EVER SEEN, DIRTY STAFF, AND A FORCED 20% SERVICE CHARGE! I booked a table for 7 people to celebrate my son's birthday on October 11, 2025. The day before, I called to mention it was a birthday and asked for a table by the window. They said, "Sure, come earlier and remind us." We came three hours early to confirm and asked again for a big table by the window. The hostess said "of course." But when we arrived at our reservation time, the restaurant was full -- no table reserved. The waiter started setting up a table in the middle of the room near the kitchen, ignoring my request. My son ordered the Chocolate Almond Cake and asked for a small candle. The waiter agreed, but when dessert arrived, only two out of three desserts came, and one child waited another 15 minutes. My son's dessert had no candle, and when I asked again, the waiter said they never had any. The "cake" turned out to be a tiny cupcake with whipped cream, completely tasteless -- not a hint of almond. Disgusting. And then we were charged 20% service fee plus asked for extra tips! The waiter's shirt was covered in dried pizza dough, and his nails were long and dirty. I didn't want to ruin my son's mood, so I just paid and left. I'm very disappointed I chose your place to celebrate my son's 10th birthday. Thanks for ruining the memories!

Not exactly sure I can defend paying $23 for 4 slices of pizza and 3 shrimp with 1 cut in half. The pizza was decent enough but the price point just doesn't make sense for what you receive.

Went after work and just got a couple glasses of wine and the almond cake. My friend got the Tiramisu and some white wines. I mainly stick to the rosés and the moscato. If you were unsure about the flavor they would let you test it. FOR GLUTEN FREE AND DAIRY FREE: They have vegan cheese and gluten free crust. It is an up charge but it is good to know. They also have the almond flour chocolate cake which is what I got and it was good and the strawberry sauce was tasty ($8). The servers were nice and attentive. We sat at the bar and chatted for a while. They have outdoor space which would be good for the spring.

Good place with good service. I got the margherita pizza which was solid but not the greatest margherita pizza I've had in the area. I thought the game room in the basement was cool.

I stopped in for dinner with family and friends. I've been a number of times over the years. I love their approach to pizza and beer. Our orders covered a variety of pizzas. They all looked good. But I wasn't as impressed by the flavor. I had the Napoletana. I had them drop the capers as they didn't seem to belong. Again, it looked great but the crust lacked flavor. It was kind of dry and bland. The cheese was just overcooked or poor quality. It added nothing. And the anchovies were incredibly salty. I'm not sure how the others were but I was disappointed and didn't eat all that much. Overall a fun place but it might be time for me to find a new target for when I'm in town.

Decided to visit Pizzeria Paradiso for a date night. Overall, I really liked the vibes and food. We decided to share a 12-inch Paesana. The 12-inch pizza could definitely be consumed by a single person but if you're not really hungry, a 12-inch pizza is the perfect size to split between 2 people. The spicy pesto had a perfect amount of heat and the chicken sausage was absolutely delicious. The only thing that wasn't quite to my taste was that the pizza came out warm and not hot so it quickly got cold after a few minutes. Service was pretty good. The waiter was quick to get our order and refill our water. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant was well-lit and rather empty on a Sunday night. The kitchen is open so you can see the workers working with the dough and throwing pizza in the oven.

Good selection of beer but the food is very, VERY sad. If you want to know how to mess up a simple garlic knot, check this place out.

Thank you for having that. It's a detail that many bars forget but I can relax and enjoy my stay more when I know my belongings are safely tucked away. We got the Smorgesboard and Saffron Mussels. Both were EXCELLENT. The Mister got a few beers. The Smorgesboard had every charcuterie option and it was really fun building the perfect bite. I thought it was absolutely worth the price. I've paid more for less. Let me take a moment and collect myself before I talk about the Saffron Mussels. They were freaking amazing. The broth was mildly spicy, a powerful punch of salty herby flavor that paired wonderfully with the mussels. They were perfectly cooked with a tender chew. Served with fries and chunks of bread to sop up all that glorious broth. If you're thinking about getting the mussels, just do it. Truly, one of the best pot of mussels I've had. We are just visiting the area, but I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town. What a delightful surprise to find this place.

There were still seats at the downstairs bar too. I went for a cocktail off their full menu not featured on happy hour - the tricky tripel, and it was delicious! The bartender did a great job explaining the tasting notes of all the drinks and helped me choose a good one. I also sipped the Belgian sour many of my friends opted for and that's a great cocktail for just $6 during happy hour. Happy hour is tricky -- it's really a great deal making it difficult to justify paying full price for anything but the crowd here is two folds. You have a lot of young college kids mixed with an older crowd so one comes for the deals while the other comes for amazing food and cocktails -- something for everyone! Overall I would definitely come back for dinner. This place has a very lowkey casual vibe but upscale food and drinks. The atmosphere/ambiance leaves a little to be desired with not so great lighting and no background music that I can recall but still a nice spot to pop in.

Great local bar with large rotating craft beer selection. Highly recommend for any beer…read moreenthusiast. They have wine and cocktails as well. They are happy to recommend beer for your taste, and let you sample. It can be very busy and difficult to get a seat at the bar or get a table on a Friday or Saturday evening. We ordered food, and were expecting elevated bar food. The tater tots were a huge disappointment- they were very large squares , bland, and not crispy. The wings were okay. The cheeseburgers were the best- from the restaurant downstairs- mallard. Huge burger, done perfectly medium.

I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. This place has earned its reputation as one of the best beer bars on the East Coast -- and then some. Highly recommend making a full night of it with both floors. You won't regret it.
