We had a party of 4 and waited about 45 minutes (we were not staying there and they prioritize guests first). Inside is moody and chic. Drink menu is so unique, each crafted with a story. The hotel itself had also long been regarded as a must-see in Quebec City, though my friend and I found its lobby underwhelming. The bar, however, was in the back of the main floor and offered stunning views of the St. Lawrence River. We approached the host stand and asked if it would be possible to get a table for two on short notice and without a reservation. While we did not get seats with a view, we were thrilled to secure what seemed to be the lone remaining table. The room was cylinder in shape with a circular bar right in the center. The walls were either windows overlooking the River or bookcases of the classics. There were exposed lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling that provided the only real illumination in the dimly-lit bar. The place had a mix of industrial, rustic, and masculine vibes. It felt almost like a scientist's lair or a professor's library. Our server, Henry, was very refined, yet personable. He helped my friend navigate the mocktail list and ensure she was going to get a concoction that met her needs. Meanwhile, I loved perusing the cocktail list that explained the inspiration behind each of their custom beverages. I immediately selected the Apex, as it included many of my favorite ingredients. The martini had been inspired by The Great Gatsby and was composed of Bistro Vodka, ginger, a passion fruit and vanilla cordial, Suze, pineapple bitters, sesame, and prosecco. The bright yellow drink was topped with a hefty scoop of a ginger-lemongrass foam. The sesame, ginger, and lemongrass gave the drink an exotic, Asian flavor that was as delicious as it was unique. In addition to our drinks, the bar was nice enough to give each table a bowl of potato chips. The couple next to us was going through their snack fairly quickly, so, despite being full from dinner, I figured I needed to at least try a solitary chip. Sadly, they were just plain and nothing out of the ordinary, though they were a tasty rendition for sure. The 1608 Bar was a fun, intriguing, and gorgeous place. It certainly earned its spot of number 41 on Canada's 100 Best Bars list, for its creativity in particular. I would highly recommend grabbing a cocktail there, but I would suggest making a reservation first, as I think that we had just been lucky to get the last table.

I really felt like we found a non-touristy haven. While not a Vegetarian establishment, it reminded me a lot of Claire's in New Haven or a little like Moosewood in Ithaca. The food was delicious and the staff were so welcoming. It is on my list of priorities when I return to Quebec. In fact, we are planning to go to Quebec as soon as possible after this pandemic is over.

EXCELLENT CHARCUTERIE AND CHEESE!…read more We wanted to try something local and more traditional, and we came across Le Pied Bleu. Their website states they're specialized in cooked charcuterie, so we decided to try it out and it was a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere with light music. They also have a few tables outside under the roof (ideal if you prefer "under the shade" patio seats). Both the charcuterie platter and the cheese platter are certainly the highlights. Our server was very kind to describe each cured meat and cheese in details. While we all have our own preferences, our group agreed these are of very high quality! We also ordered a few lunch plates to share - crepes, sausage & eggs, etc. They're freshly prepared and are served in a hot pan which kept the food nice and warm! I'd love to go back again when I'm in Québec City in the future - both dine-in and also get some cured meats as midnight snack :)

Excellent pizzeria in Quebec City serving authentic yet creative pies in a cozy, welcoming setting…read morewith genuinely pleasant service. We loved the Buffalo Margherita++ and N'duja -- a perfect contrast between a beautifully executed classic and something spicy, sweet, meaty, and packed with flavor. The crust was textbook: light and airy with just the right amount of chew and char. And definitely save room for the house tiramisu. We absolutely devoured it -- creamy, bittersweet, perfectly moist, with just a hint of alcohol. One of the highlights of the meal. They also serve local Quebec wines and were great at recommending pairings to complement our food, which was a really nice touch. Highly recommend Nina for a relaxed, delicious Italian meal in Quebec City.

I like to either use a knife and fork or fold it then eat it. It's meant to be soft in the middle (focus is on the flavor) and the crust is supposed to be chewy. Just a little chewy. We ordered the pizza burrata mortadella e pesto and la Barcelona. Both items were excellent. I really enjoyed the pesto, herbs, and mortadella. The Barcelona was equally as good with the chorizo iberico and the manchego cheese. Honesty, this would be a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. However, the service on 9/18/26 after 8:30 pm was very slow. It took her awhile just to come back and take our order (I wanted to place my order ASAP because they close at 10 pm). Then again when we needed a box and our check. I didn't like that our waitress mostly disappeared. I understand this is common among French Canadian and European culture. This is a cultural difference. I'll still give a 4 out of 5.

We started with the bruschetta which was tasty and the toast was lightly toasted without being that over toasted, cut your mouth, hard bread. For our mains, I had the wild mushroom pasta which I really enjoyed. None of the "dirt taste" other reviewers commented about, just lovely mushroom taste, great al dente pasta. My dining partner had the mama's lasagna. He said it was good, and was a very large portion of, but said it was a bit salty. Overall a wonderful meal. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an app for my entree, the bruschetta. It came loaded with seasoned tomato pieces. Hubby ordered the pasta with clams in a spicy sauce. There was a misunderstanding with his meal. When hubby asked questions about the carbonara, our server thought he ordered the carbonara when he actually decided on the pasta with clams. When the wrong meal was brought over, our server escalated to his manager who then offered to exchange his meal. They kept apologizing for the mixup but honestly, they already handled it well by replacing it without issues. The pasta dish was so good! I scooped the extra sauce with my crostini and really enjoyed it. The clams were meaty and fresh too. Daughter ordered the pasta with meat sauce- also very good. This small restaurant has tables pretty close together and is part of a hotel. If anything needs to be improved, it's the ventilation. Afterwards, our clothes had heavy food scents!
