    Mushroom pizza

We visited this place on our way back from Untermeyer Garden. On our way back we were hungry and found a pizza place that was close by. When we got there it looked pretty busy and people had already made take-out orders a couple of hours ahead. The chef was accommodating and he made our pizza in 20 minutes. It was fresh and so delicious. The crust was just perfect.

Serious pies. Inside out box. Best around, not particularly close.... Call early to place the order

Every once in a rare while, if you look long and try hard and get very lucky, you might find something so exceptional that it changes an entire genre. I did. It's name is Baci Pizzeria. And I don't think pizza will ever be the same for me. The pizzas here are like nothing you've ever had. They're all made with a high-hydration sourdough and allowed to rise far longer than usual. Those long, slow steps take extra time and effort, but help create an unusually flavorful dough that moves good to extraordinary. That seems to be how pizza begins at Baci. We tried two different pies this trip. A basic round pie with soppressata, red sauce, mozzarella, and hot honey. Plus a Detroit style square with prosciutto and arugula. There's no question we'll be back for the others and whatever may pop up on their Special of the Week menus. There is absolutely nothing basic or ordinary or standard about this round pie. The crust is fairly thin, a bit chewy, and flavorful enough to be its own happy event. The red sauce is reduced almost to a jam, pushing the sharp acidity of the tomatoes toward an intensified umami lushness. The result is incredible and I haven't even finished my first bite. Top that deliciousness with a bit of mozzarella and just enough hot honey to announce that this is something different and the results are somewhere between WOW and WONDERFUL. As I said, like nothing else. The round pie looked a bit small at first and the toppings seemed minimal. And yet this may be the most opulent slice of pizza I have ever eaten.... Until I got to the Detroit square.... That lush little Detroit square is the pie I want to take with me to eternity. Only an inch or so tall and barely five inches wide it may seem small at first glance. Don't be fooled. All the goodness has been condensed into this astonishing little masterpiece. The dough takes center stage here and prosciutto adds a richness that's balanced by the sharp tang of arugula. That's the key word here I think - balance. Every tiny addition adds to the whole without overpowering it.... The result is stunning. For now, Baci is takeout only. Order online first or expect a longish wait - this really is the antithesis of fast food,. Long lines haven't started yet but I suspect that'll change as word gets out. The small room was already stacked floor to ceiling with empty pizza boxes waiting to be filled. I joked that it looked like enough to last a long long time. "Oh no," said the young man folding and stacking the boxes, "they'll be gone by tomorrow...."

This is probably some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The dough and ingredients is just next level. A must have.

You don't get to a 771 day streak on Duolingo like I do without learning a few things...like "baci" means "kisses" in Italian...and I need to get out more. Finally a pizza place to brag about in Northern Westchester! This was my first time visiting Baci, and both the Ave J and Clam pies were outstanding. I'm already counting down the minutes until I can try more from the menu. Quality fresh ingredients, and an amazing thin sourdough crust. Friendly staff and not to mention really neat sports memorabilia on the walls too. Ordering was easy as (pizza) pie. The place opens at 4, but phone lines open at 3. Call ahead with your order and pickup time, and voila! ("Voila" means "there you have it" in French. I wonder how you say "I crave the acceptance of others" in French ) Anyway, if you love pizza you've gotta try this place out!

I've had better pies elsewhere without having to hear his sob story or deal with his nonsense. I ordered a pie from him 3weeks ago as my train home was at 125th St station and when I got off at Cortlandt and drove over and in 55mins, my pie was still not yet even in the oven. Yes there were a few other customers but it was not by any means busy and it took 77min from order to pizza in hand. Might not take so long if he wasn't doing drugs in-between making orders. I am now completely done with this guy and his shop. 4 strikes and he is out. I hope the DEA and DTF take a close look at him and hopefully remind him of his place in the world. Even friends who were defending him a few years ago now tell me Hudson Oven is better (when they're doing pizza) -- and that it is hot and ready within 5min of the time they tell you. The restaurant was extremely busy and clearly understaffed -- there were only two servers working incredibly hard. Service was definitely slow, but I give them a lot of credit for doing their best under the circumstances. They were very gracious and even brought us a complimentary drink to apologize for the wait, which was a really nice touch. Despite the delays, the food was excellent. The nachos were great, the French dip and chicken sandwich were both very good, and honestly, the fries were some of the best I've ever had. We also tried their house-made beer, which was delicious. One thing to note is the layout of the restaurant. It's right next to (and partially within) the arcade, so it can get very loud with lots of kids running around and yelling. I can definitely see the appeal for parents -- being able to eat and have a drink while keeping an eye on their kids is a big plus. For those without kids or looking for a quieter, kid-free night, it's just something to be aware of. That said, I'd love to come back in the summer and sit on the outdoor deck along the water. Overall, a cool spot with great food.

Past three times I've been, they have been dry to the point of overcooked and hollow. But the burgers are good and other menu items are also tasty. Disappointing that they shut down early weekdays. Especially Wednesdays! lol. Dining area holds plenty of seating indoors and out. View of Hudson River is awesome! Staff are all good people! Bar outside is not too bad. Good social spot! Like I said. I like this place and will still visit. So solid two thumbs up.
