Margherita Pizza (€6.50)- tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil
Jane L.

Pizzeria Amalfi is located not that far from St. Peters Square. They specialize in Roman and Neopolitan cuisine. They serve appetizers, pastas, pizza, seafood, and meat dishes. They also have a wine bar. I had a Margherita Pizza. It was fantastic! The outer crust was soft and chewy with slight firmness. The rest of the pizza was soft and chewy. The tomato sauce and mozzarella had great flavor. At no point did the cheese ever slip off the pizza. The pizza was very filling and quite large for the price. This was the best margherita pizza I've ever had. For only €6.50 it was a really good deal. I also had the Rigatoni all'Amatriciana. The rigatoni was cooked al dente and the tomato sauce was rich and heavy. There were some pieces of bacon in there and the flavor from the pecorino cheese was a bit strong. There was a hint of spiciness from the chili peppers. Service was pretty good. We were greeted upon entry. The server took our order within a few minutes. The food took around 15 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was well-ventilated. I didn't smell any cooking coming from the kitchen. There's a lot of seating available. The restaurant was pretty spacious in comparison to most of the other Italian restaurants we've visited. Wonderful pizza and pretty good pasta. Definitely will be back the next time I'm in Rome!

We were able to find a seat fairly quickly and the service was efficient. We ordered pizza and bruschetta. The bruschetta was tasty and the pizza was decent. It was a classic margherita but it looks like they used shredded mozzarella rather than fresh mozzarella.

Randomly walked by this place, and happy I ate here. Food was affordable and delicious! Pasta was al dente, and flavored. Seafood was also fresh. Not a huge fan of cheese, but the mozzarella was really good. Our waiter was also very kind, fast, and patient.

We stopped by here after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor and we're glad we did! The restaurant is pretty big, and there is a second Pizzeria Amalfi right across the street too. Food: -Spicy sausage pizza: The pizza here is one of the better ones we had in Italy, but not the best. The crust is nice and chewy without being too thick, but there was just too much oil and I had to resist the urge to blot. -Shrimp salad: This salad is beautiful to look at and so fresh with an ample amount of avocado, greens, shrimp, and limes. Service: -Service was very prompt and quick with several waiters working. They were friendly, spoke English, and our food came out really quickly too. Overall, this is a solid restaurant with affordable food and quick service if you're looking for something around the Vatican.

This was the only place we sat down and got wood-fire cooked pizza in Rome, and we were happy with the experience. First of all, we were walking around looking for a bite to eat after visiting the Vatican Museum. It was only about 5:30pm, so we were expecting to just find a cafe and settle for a ready-made sandwich. But hallelujah, Pizzeria Amalfi was open and ready to fill our grumbling stomachs with delicious pizza! Our waiter throughout our visit several feet from us and only came by when necessary, but he was very nice, was ready to help us whenever we needed him, and was professional the whole time (as opposed to loud American servers who constantly hover over patrons and act like they're your best friend). The whole restaurant was cozy without feeling claustrophobic. We enjoyed watching our pizzas being made just a few feet away from us as soon as our order was taken. As for the pizzas, the crust had excellent bite and was not soggy. We were able to eat our pizzas cleanly without needing to fold them up. The toppings were flavorful--we especially happily groaned at the delicious sausage--and melded well together. Not having been to any other sit-down pizzerias in Rome, I don't know how Pizzeria Amalfi stacks up against them. But I do know that they make a delicious pizza, and I would happily go back there again for pizza the next time I'm in Rome.

Delicious food, perfect location, the staff was friendly. I loved everything about this restaurant and major plus, they have WI-FI. After visiting the Vatican make sure to stop by here for some of the best pasta! The menu was easy to read being we don't speak or read Italian we had no problem!

We decided to come here because it was close by....and it was a pretty decent experience. There were not a lot of people out front, so we figured the service would be fast, but it wasn't. Lol. However, we noticed this place was severely under staffed. The only server was running around like a chicken with his head cut off..lol. I knew it was bad, when I saw him in the kitchen and then saw him pouring drinks behind the bar. I appreciate a hard working server, and he was kind, so we decided to stick around and relax. 45 mins later when the food did finally come out, the food was hot and absolutely delicious!!! Really good food packed with flavor! The flavor and presentation was just lovely. We then decided to come here again on our last night in Rome...when we arrived, this place was busy, and to our pleasant surprise, there was triple or maybe more the amount of servers than the last time. :) HOWEVER, we waited just as long to get a server and just get some water. This place is SLOW. But hey, if you can get it in your mind to be patient when you come here and expect slow service. The experience here will be good. The food is fantastic, the drinks are pretty good, and the ambiance is nice also. Don't come here starving....10 minutes of not being noticed and waiting for just water, will seem like eternity! Lol

Best place we have eaten in Rome thus far. Amazing pizza/calzone and pasta. Owner was very kind when my girlfriend spilled balsamic on her shirt, he gave her a shirt cleaner product. Overall, the best experience with fabulous prices.

First meal as a study abroad student in Rome! Had better gnocchi at some other places, but the pizza here is incredible! The staff are so nice as well

Absolutely amazing pizza!!! The staff were exceedingly helpful, nice and friendly. With our nonexistent Italian and their minimal English they helped us have a lovely dinner and then the next day a great lunch :) gnocchi with buffalo mozzarella was also a big winner! Would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for lunch or dinner!

Now this was the best Pizza I had in Rome. Not as cool or as nicely located as Baffeto, but better pizza in my opinion.

Good food. Service not more than ok. No clue, why it made it into lonely planet, though.

As soon as I walked…read moreinto the restaurant, it had elegant decors with dim lighting and a quiet atmosphere with soft music playing in the background. We ordered sea bass fillet rolled in zucchini and honey mushrooms. Fish was tender, soft, and delicious with great seasoning. We also ordered Ravioli with white truffles and it was delicious as well. Ravioli tasted like it was freshly made and it tasted great with truffles. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert. This tiramisu was prepared by an artist. Just by looking at the dish, it was very pretty to look at. It was presented on a beautiful plate with thin chocolate cookie on top with sugar decoration and underneath was a creamy white tiramisu. I loved this dish because it was unique dessert with great sweet flavor and great presentation. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly with great attitude and they are attentive. I think they liked the look on my face every time they brought out the dishes because their presentation was great. Whoever was the Chef that night, I would give him or her an award. This restaurant was unique just like Rome. Highly recommended!

We opted for the Roman-style cuisine tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was quiet and romantic. I appreciated the decor, especially the various wine bottles displayed throughout, and I also liked the dishes the food was served on. That said, this restaurant leaned a little too "foodie" for my taste. I also discovered that I really dislike truffles! My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed everything--including my leftovers. The wines were fantastic across the board. I also want to mention the pricing was shockingly affordable for what we got at dinner, which again, included the wine pairing. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, Ristorante Ad Hoc is worth a visit.

This place was so incredible, we went TWICE during our 3 day stay in Rome!…read more We had tried the other "super famous" Italian sandwich spot earlier in our trip and it did NOT deliver. Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.
