First night in Rome, and Italy after a long day of travel, whatcha going to need, pizza! We make pizza at home a lot, but it had been awhile since we had pizza in Rome. Remo did not disappoint, and hit the mark on the spot. It's a tiny place so they have an outdoor space right at the edge of the roadway which is a little harrowing. The service was excellent, and typically Italian, boisterous, demonstrative and just what we were looking for. The salads were fresh, lightly dresssed in olive oil and a little bit of vinegar. The tomatoes were so good, had a bit of salt on them to break them down a bit. The Neapolitan pizza was exactly what we thought, and hoped it would be, ooey, gooey, and of course uncut! Not sure what the hype is. We got a margarita pizza with buffalo cheese. It was very thin and meh. Maybe it would be better if we got toppings. Also disappointed with the veggies. Thought they would be a mix. My mistake. It was gross spinach with no taste. Bad beer even though they said it was the "best one" and horrible wine. This is the best Pizza I had in Rome. You don't need reservations but be prepared to wait as it is always packed with locals. I heard about it on Katie Parla's blog and the pictures hooked me completely. So, by the time we arrived in Rome, I knew this was going to be one pizzeria we had to try. We arrived here on our rented Vespa and it was one of the best nights in Rome. Its located in Testaccio so the vespa was perfect as I dont know how far this place is from a metro stop. The pizza is to die for....thin crust, simple and so delicious! Get individual pizzas as they are perfect for one person and as in most authentic Italian pizzerias, this place is open only for dinner. In our 4 day trip to Rome, we ate here twice...it was simply that good. The servers are so friendly, I even took a picture with one of them. They speak minimal English but they do have an English menu.My favourite is the pizza margherita...it has the classic Roman crust: paper thin and at the same time flimsy and crispy so it bends into a perfect crunchy cheese envelope for your enjoyment....It's the best ever. They have amazing frites (fried appetizers) as well but it is the pizzas that make my heart melt. Of all my reviews, I'm most excited to write this. The idea of having pizza in Italy might seem cliche, but i made it my mission to find the best pizza in Rome while I was there. And, mission accomplished. After days of research, I came across Da Remo. It's located outside the main tourist trap areas and in an unassuming shop. The place is authentic Roman and the employees make sure to let you know they're here to serve you amazing pizza and not hold your hand. Upon arriving you're seated at whatever table is open and given two cups to drink whatever you choose, and a pizza menu written entirely in Italian. The waiter, who is short on patience, then come back in 3 minutes expecting to take your order. I went with the Bufala Mozzarella pizza. Four minutes later, a pepper thin crust pizza showed up at the table with cheese rolling from side to side. The first bite did it for me. It was by far the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten, by far. The paper thin crust allows you to enjoy more of the cheese and sauce without getting overly full. The cheese is the best quality and tasting mozzarella I've ever had and the sauce was just special. It was so good that I order and second pizza and devoured it just as the first. This is hands down THE pizza restaurant you must go to when in Rome. Don't come here expecting white glove service. The servers are here to give you the best pizza of your life, and nothing else. I'm no expert but I think this is pretty close, if not spot on, to a classic Italian dinner. They got pizza, pasta, bread, wine, whats not to love. We ordered a mushroom pizza which was a bit too soggy; I'd recommend sticking with a simple margherita pie. The carbonara was aight: tasty but not out of this world. House red wine was unbelievably inexpensive and actually really good - I had to watch myself to not order too much. The food came out in a timely manner, but we also juuuust beat the dinner rush, so take that with a grain of salt. The staff was friendly and I felt very welcome as an American intruding into the Italian dining scene and not knowing a bit of the language or culture. The epitome of Roman pizza. Professional food reviewers call this the best of Roma. Yep. Simply put, you eat this, you will NEVER be able to eat an American pizza again. The crust, a couple of millimeters thick, blistered, charred. Hints of bitter smoke from the wood burning oven. Crisp and a little burnt on the edges. Incredible chew similar to Indian naan through the middle. Add a mind blowing, intensely flavored, sweet and acidic tomato purée, milky fresh mozzarella, egg plant, mushrooms, sweet, intense fennel flavored house made pork sausage with whips of aged umami goodness, whatever else. Served steaming and bubbling. Perfect. Maybe the minerals in the water, the yeast, the wheat, milling of the flour, the type of hard wood charcoal, the sun ripened tomatoes, whatever. Bottom line, this pizza is a singular experience that cannot be duplicated. Utilitarian décor. Paper table coverings. Close tables. Very friendly service. Everything you expect from a place that focuses more on the pizza than anything else. Packed with locals. Tourist are not tolerated if you don't try to fit in (spread your own paper table covering, don't try to customize the pizza, EAT YOUR PIZZA WITH A FORK AND KNIFE, serve yourself water and wine, and have a great time interacting with fellow diners). Dinner only. Reservations not accepted. A short 15 minute wait at 9:30pm on a weekday. Very little English. Be sure to know your Italian pizza terminology before you go. This surely is the best pizza I have ever eaten - and trust me; I have eaten lots of pizza. From New York to Copenhagen, from London to Bangkok. This place combines an amazing thin-crust pizza with the most charming Roman atmosphere. Seriously, can you ask for more? Not really. Haaa laughing at all reviews complaining about the "bad" service" so I visit this place back in 2006. Turns out a friend of mine is in Rome and I was thinking if this place was still open , by looking at the pictures i can tell you this looks exactly the same, we found this place by luck and omg I still can remember the great flavor of this thin , crusty pizza , I ordered fungus. About the service, the waiter threw the menu on our table as well as the pencils to mark down our order , we felt it was rude but soon realize it's kinda like their tradition. So we started laughing. As soon as we were done with the food we ordered more beers, then the cook was yelling the waiter because there was a huge line waiting outside so he suggest we would drink all the bottle in one sitting haha. Me and my boyfriend came here after reading great reviews about the pizza but were greatly disappointed by both the service and the food. The pizza was mediocre and a bit burnt as well--I have definitely had much better pizza in other countries in Europe and even Los Angeles, which is not known for its pizza. I find it baffling that many people say this is the best pizza in Rome, but I wouldn't have left a bad review if it weren't for the incredibly rude waiters. After having a long day walking around the city, we ordered a coffee with our pizza to wake us up, only to have the waiter ask us where we're from and laugh in our face when we said LA. He then gave my boyfriend a condescending pat on the back and said "Here in Italy, we have coffee after our meal. Pizza goes with wine or soda, just so you Americans know." He continued to be condescending the rest of our time there, clearly laughing about us and complaining in Italian to the other waiters, who also had very little patience for Americans. When we asked for the check, the waiter because angry because we did not have cash (nowhere did it say on the premises we had to pay in cash). I really enjoyed this restaurant in Rome. It was nearby our hotel and I liked the clean modern look of the place. It is not a pizza joint, much nicer. I had a HUGE delicious calzone with a few glasses of their house red wine and my husband had the meat lovers pizza. Everybody had cash but me so I wanted to pay the full bill with my card.....the abuse that was thrown at me....unbelievable :-( i have been in rome for 5 years and sorry but everybody else in Europe uses their card! This is a locals spot and not many tourists go there, now that's always a good sign of a great restaurant! It's very casual, indoor/outdoor pizzeria. Service is great! But now, let's talk about their pizza! No menu in English, so ask your Italian friend, or waiter to translate everything b/c you dont want to miss out on any pizza topping. Let me preface this by saying I'm a New Haven, CT native so I was raised on Pepe's Pizza. Trust me, I know good pizza when I taste it. I'd even venture to say I know it when I smell it. Ravenous, a girlfriend and I came early on Monday evening to ensure we'd be seated immediately (this place gets bumpin' as the night goes on). I ordered the pizza bianche with salmon and she had the pizza with sausage. Your heard that right, we had a pizza each to ourselves. I have no regrets. Both pies were brought out promptly with a liter of house red wine we'd ordered not 5 minutes prior. This place knows efficiency. The pizzas were extremely thin crust but did not skimp on cheese or topping. Even more miraculous was that the bottoms of the pies somehow had not been blackened, which can be typical with thin crusts. Those men working the oven really know their way around a pie. Everything was fresh, bursting with flavor, and the atmosphere was very casual and family style. Oh man the pizza here is so good! The crust is super thin, but it holds up the ingredients quite well (a bit soggy towards the middle, but it doesn't break apart). To eat, I was given a piece of paper, I suppose because the pizza is bigger than the plate! I was also given a knife and fork to eat the pizza with. I ordered the house special, which has sausage, mushrooms, and eggplant. It was delicious! I loved every bite of it, and I would recommend it! This is the besta pizza pie that I've had while in Italy! (Sorry...I can't resist. No offense intended). It's the crisp yet snappy, chewy crust that really does it for me. The great bits of char on the crust make it so flavorful. And, the ingredients are super, super fresh. A liter of average, chilled red house wine, three pizzas, a fried rice ball, a fried zuhinni flower stuffed with some sort of anchovy and ricotta and a large bottle of water for 40€! After being slightly underwhelmed with Neopolitan pizza (crust not crispy enough, too soft in the middle for our taste), we decided to give Da Remo a go, and I'm so glad we did! We came on a Wednesday night, no booking, and got one of the last available tables around 8:30 pm. It's a crowded and busy place, where the servers run around like crazy to serve everyone. They won't pay much attention to you, so waving them down is an effort, but if you have what you need, relax and enjoy the pizza. From our streetside table, I enjoyed the house red wine and a starter of lovely, homey, simple beans and vegetables. The high-quality olive oil on the beans elevates the peasant-style dish, and it had us swearing to start cooking more beans from scratch when we got back home. While I certainly won't be able to remember what pizzas we had (I know mine had lovely, briny anchovies on. The Ninja Turtles would've hated it). I do remember that the crust was crispy from the outside to the center, and made a delightful crackle in your mouth - JUST the way we like it. Sorry Naples, you gotta cook it a little bit more. We really enjoyed the flavor of the sauce, the light fresh toppings, and the crust was perfect. Took ages to get someone's attention to get the bill, but why not linger? If the crowds waiting don't glare at you. Oh, the ordering process is a bit weird. They give you a menu, and a card with a pencil. You have to check off what you want on the card, then just hand it to a waiter. It's actually easy, but nobody explains it, so you feel a bit unsure. Came here during a vacation to Rome a couple weeks ago, based on seeing this pizza place at the top of almost every top 10 Roman pizza list online. When we arrived, it was pretty intimidating to see about 50 locals standing around outside waiting to be seated. This place was strictly locals only as it's not really near any tourist attractions. It took about an hour and we were finally seated. I ordered a prosciutto pizza and my wife ordered a mushroom pizza. I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed as the pizzas weren't that flavorful. How can I start this review. We went here July 2017 and it was the worst experience of all in any restaurant waiting for SO CALL ORIGINAL ITALIAN PIZZA. WRONG decision ever. We were hungry and looking for a place with original food choice and close to our hotel. Well, our trip of buying good food was not well at all. We arrived and the place had no place to seat. We asked if we can get food to go they said yes so we order three pizzas, mozzarella cheese and tomato with basil, and prosciutto and melon. They said will be done in 10 mins...well we waited for 50 mins for OUR SIMPLE ORDER TO BE DONE. We regretted not asking for refund and leave. It was ridiculous to wait for pizza that long. The guy that was greeting the customers was not a good host or welcomer. He knew we were waiting. I keep coming inside to check our order and NO ONE NO ONE Cared to help us. Everyone in Rome seems to have a pizzeria they would claim is the best in town. Based on the crowds found waiting for a table, Remo has lots of fans. While not my personal neighborhood favorite, the pizza is very good, even if they don't offer my standby 4 cheese dish. Good green and the pasta is good as well. My husband and I are visiting from LA and we were expecting to find mind blowing pizza in Rome. So ... we did an online search and found Da Remo. Took us about 45 minutes to get here via metro/walking. We were seated right away, not much wait at the time. We ordered the bufala mozzarella margherita and the mushroom. Neither were anything special. A great pizza should have a kick-ass sauce and this one had no flavor. Let's put it this way, I've had better at CPK. If you're in the area, try it out. But in my opinion, wasn't worth the trip. At the end, about 5 min after paying the bill, the waiter told us to hurry up and leave because he has other people waiting, and indeed he did.
