I have not been here before mostly because the lines were always so long, and I hate waiting in line lines lol... I thought how good could a pizza slice be? The line should've answered that question, not my impatience. Anyway I was in the area during the holiday and we stopped by here my friend said this was her favorite place, so I was definitely willing to try it. That day there was no line haha... We ordered a slice and sat at the bar I had a glass of wine, they have rotating wines and beers... I like the casual atmosphere it seemed like everybody coming to pick up a pizza has been here before since they know the girl at the register. That's a good sign. Everybody was nice and attentive. The slice came about 10-15 minutes later, I like the pizza crust a lot here they have a square pizza, I like that it is crunchy it had that cornmeal bottom, the sauce was delicious and there was not an inch of space that did not have pepperoni... the cheese was really good and just everything made that pizza, I thought to myself I am sad that I waited so long to try it. The seasonings on the top were great... everything about that pizza slice is memorable, since then I have returned twice to order a whole pizza, the whole pizza was OK it isn't exactly the same as the pizza slices, the pizza slices though are a good option and also very affordable. I realize that I only really need a couple slices to feel satisfied which works out, I had too many slices left over before ha ha with the whole pan. The place is point and I like the outside seating that they have at the side of the building that's pretty cool, I can't remember if they have heating lamps there but that would be an added feature if they did. I will travel for fake pepperoni - it was my go to pizza before I became a vegetarian almost 30 years ago. So when I found out I could get a slice here, literally dropped everything I was doing and made the 25 minute drive. Parking - street. I believe it was free for 2 hours, but don't quote me. Comparison - For those that have been to Slicehouse in Southern California, my taste buds tell me they both use Beyond Pepperoni. So then it just comes down to style of pizza you like, but the star of the pizza party is identical. Vegan Pepperoni Pizza (Grade A) - The menu has this as a full vegan pizza. I still haven't found a vegan cheese that I can roll with so we ordered this with real cheese. They use a 3 cheese blend, one of them is a ricotta dollop on each square slice. The bites with ricotta actually taste like a lasagna or a stuffed ziti. Since the star of this show was the vegan pepperoni, there needs to be a co-Star. And it was the crust. It has a nice cornmeal bottom, pillowy soft insides with a crunchy exterior. The crust parts that were lucky enough to have some cheese baked on it were absolutely delicious. Tip - Pizzasaurus - you should sell bread sticks. My Suggestion - I know that vegan pepperoni ain't cheap and loading up a pizza with it will definitely bump the price. Go for it! I was paying $43 for a 20-inch vegan pepperoni at Slicehouse, but it was worth every bite. It was loaded with pepperoni to a point you can't even see what's beneath it. This had a single pepperoni per square slice. Build it ... they will come!!! Haha Garlic Fries (Grade B) - These get an A+ for being homecut. 99.9% sure these aren't frozen. I could still see the skins on all rhe potatoes. Had to lower the grade 1 notch because they were heavy handed on the salt. Had to bang individual fries against the side wall of the container to shake it off. But still gets a B for homecut and the salt worked well between pizza bites. Bottom line. Vegan pepperoni was hella good. Service was friendly. Street parking was a few blocks away, but walking a few blocks after eating is a good thing. I will definitely come back and if they up the charge to $40 for this pizza, I'll happily pay for it because I know they'll be a pepperoni palooza! read more

I ordered takeout (not dine-in, this is important for later) on 2/3: - Potato Pizza (+$31.49) - Add bacon (+$2.00) - I wanted to try all their sauces (+$1.70) - Tax (+$3.60) Total: $38.79 Total charged on my statement: $47.32 Discrepancy: $8.53 After calling in, I was told the $8.53 was the tip for my order, which was roughly 22%. Sometimes I'll tip on takeout, sometimes I wont, but I'm fairly certain I didn't tip 22% for a takeout pizza order. Pizzasaurus Rex refunded $5 towards the high tip which I think is fair since I'm fine with tipping a few bucks for takeout. I just wanted to say I really appreciated and liked the layout and decor of the establishment. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating as well! Plus there's a bar too. First time here and I ordered the pickle pizza and the cheese pizza ! It was so good! Also got the Cesar salad and it was fresh and flavorful. This pizza reminds of the pizza when I had in New York! One of the best pizza spots in Sac - especially the potato pizza. I ordered takeout on a Saturday night. I got half potato half combination. The combo was good, but nothing crazy. The real star of the show was the potato. It was unlike any other pizza I've tried before. the Dino sauce and hot honey can definitely be skipped though. I had their rotating Dino slice (every 3 day rotating special of the day) which consisted of sun dazed tomato sauce, 3 cheese, zucchini, mushroom, red onions, feta and basil. Went here for the first time the other day to try it out. Had heard a few things about it. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the dino slice and a soda. The service was good and the people were nice. While the taste was good, it was pretty thin. Maybe that's the style they make it in but I ate the slice, including the crust. Which I normally don't eat crusts. I was still hungry when I left. A big shocker was they only had two types of meat toppings. Pepperoni and salami. No Canadian Bacon, Italian sausage, ground beef etc. that to me was a big red flag as I like more of a variety of toppings. If you're a Vegan you'll most likely love this place. As they had a number of Vegan options. But if you like meat toppings then find another place to go as this place is limited. For an old school pizza head like myself it's not the place to go. And while I had fun spending time with friends and enjoying a warm summer evening on the patio, there's a still BIG problem with their vegan pizza. And its name is Daiya Cheese. There's a lot of great dairy-free cheese on the market (helloooo Violife) but this plastic-tasting one has a way of just downgrading a perfectly good pie. The crust was great, the sauce delicious, but if this vegan pizza had a different cheese it would have been twice as good. I really wanted to love this California take on a Detroit-style pizza, but it just doesn't live up to the hype. The amazing pies nearby at Buffalo Pizza use proper vegan cheese, have more adventurous toppings and also happens to be slightly cheaper. I was low key excited when my friend suggested we come here for vegan pizza after a round of drinks at a different place this week. Several friends have recommended Pizzasaurus Rex to me since it opened, so it's not just me having a (hot) love for T. rex of the English and Cretaceous variety, I swear. I still like PSB's and Buffalo's better, but this one was still awesome and I would come back to try other varieties. They don't sell the vegan pizza by the slice because they use daiya and she slides off too easily. Not my fave vegan cheese, but still tasty imo. My favorite things about the Pizzasaurus Rex vegan pepperoni were the pepperoni, the rich, tangy, red sauce, and the flavorful crust. Yummy. We ordered a whole pizza, which easily feeds four people. It's a square! My bae also ordered us some truffle fries (not vegan but can be made without parm) and these were perfection. They even had several extra crispy fries for me, just the way I like them. I hate soggy fries. I liked their ranch (not vegan) and their unique (to my tastbuds) jalapeno chutney-adjacent dipping sauce (though it was too spicy for my digestive issues to be able to have more than one taste). We sat on the patio and enjoyed ourselves talking. It was nearing sunset, so it wasn't too hot out, and there were umbrellas for shade just in case. I like their inside and outside space. It has a comfortable, laid back vibe which I dig. Everyone I encountered who works here was super friendly and knowledgeable about what goes into their food. We ordered by the slice with the options as: cheese (3 cheeses), pepperoni, and 'dino' which changes daily. We ended up with the cheese and 'dino' + truffle fries to share. We came in when the interior was under construction so there was only outdoor seating - there's quite a bit of outdoor seating too so that was really nice. We went in and ordered our drinks - big beer menu and ordered our pizza. We went with the potato pizza, which is an experience - a good experience, and the special was a caesar salad with a bunch of extras. The service was so nice! One of my favorite spots in Sacramento, my girlfriend and I always go here, it's a great date spot. Not a bad price per slice and the staff are always welcoming. Parking can be challenging at some times, but it's worth it since it's a walkable location to explore the other bits of Midtown. The Dino slice is always a fun surprise! Hands down one of my favorite pizza joints in Sacramento! In addition to my favorite square sliced pizza, Pizzasaurus Rex also hosts trivia and drag queen bingo. This place is a good time. I've been before for collaboration nights too such as Sacramento Hates You Too merchandise sales. I just love this place! Everyone who works here is SO NICE. We need more of that in this world and I'm happy to go and always be warmly greeted and given the best service. Parking is available in front of the restaurant and around the block. I don't mind walking so there's been times I park a block or two away. My partner and I on a Sunday night were trying to decide where to eat, and so we decided on pizza! I had Pizzasaurus Rex saved on my Yelp for a while and thought maybe we should try it tonight! A small little joint with fun people chitchatting, enjoying a few taps, or just catching up with friends. My partner and I enjoyed our pizzas and we liked how the potato just fit into the pizza, and it complimented well with the hot honey and ranch. We enjoyed the Combo as well. We liked the dough as it was fluffy and perfect and the crust was crunchy! However, we wished the toppings stayed on a bit better as they kept sliding off, but otherwise it was a good pizza. We also love fries, and decided to try their truffle fries. It was decent, but not epic. We love our fries crispy, so wishing it was crispier, but it was fluffy on the inside.
