San Francisco is the place for the best pizza in the West Coast. San Francisco is one the best pizza places in the America. There are lots of different places all around San Francisco to grab a pie or slice. It seems many versions of pizza have landed in San Francisco and has been remixed to the flavor of the city. When it comes to access to pizza some places have limited options. In the tourist trap known as Fisherman's Wharf I can count on one hand where a pizza place is located and still have some fingers left. One place claims it's the best pizza in the West ( it's says it on their building) and it's called Pizza Zone. On a San Francisco Summer Autumn Stroll and about two weeks away from Winter on the Beach ( Not North Beach ) street to examine the claim of best pizza in the West. I stepped inside and it has few tables inside. I had to order a simple slice to get the true taste of the pizza. I ordered an extra cheese slice. Let me tell you it was one of the cheesiest in SF. This is the type of pizza you would eat at 3:04 am after all restaurants are closed. I would have this type of pizza after a few adult drinks when there are no other pizza places open. The pizza definitely was not the best in the West and without doubt not the best in the Fisherman's Wharf area and they are open until midnight on the weekends. It's the only pizza game in the area and it's okay to grab a slice of pizza if you are tired of eating In-N-Out burgers and fries which is a block away. There is "post "of a sign which "boast" about having the best pizza West "Coast"but the pizza was more like cheesy bread "toast" Pineapple on my pizza I don't "condone" you never see it snapped picture of that on my " phone" but the slices with extra cheese are cheesy like a "calzone " in SF at Fisherman's Wharf at the "Pizza Zone" read more

The pizza is tasteful. Portions are huge ! You get what you pay. $11 for one slice and pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, jalapeño, and pineapple. Customer service was OK. Minimum conversation. I asked what's the most popular. There respond was " Everything, everyone is different " . Me personally I appreciate a little talk. Asking me " what do you like " helping me find something for me. But they do minimum talking and stay quite. Which is fine if you just want you food and leave. Besides that the food was ok. Not bad not super delicious. I would still recommend. We've been here before but this time I was more observant and noticed unsanitary conditions. The worker was an older lady with black short hair pretty unfriendly. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza (whole), $36.65 She got the raw dough, started pressing it with her hands, then her cell rang. She picked up the call touched her phone and continued to press our dough. Never washed her hands. Disgusting. I've been to New York, and this is NOT "NY style". Service is excellent though!! We ordered 3 slices, it was about $5.75 per slice from the menu. We got one meat combo, one veggie and one plain cheese. The meat combo had pepperoni, salami and sausage. All of the meats were not salty enough and had little to no flavor. Such a bummer! The veggie pizza was nothing special and even the plain cheese wasn't that good. The dough is not as thin as New York, it was still a bit too chewy. The size of the slices were good but in my opinion pricey. I'd give it a 2/5 on flavor, but 3/5 for overall pizza joint. After a tour of the city, we worked up an appetite! This place which was a few doors down from the gocar place was perfect! They had pizzas by the slice and they were nice slice slices too! It was quite busy inside too so I assume it's either good busy or everyone's hungry or a bit of both lol. The slice of cheese pizza we got was pretty big too so I split the slice with a friend which was perfect! The pizza was hot and they had things like Parmesan, garlic oil, red pepper flakes as options to put on your pizza. I'm not sure what time they are open til but I feel like they are place that you can go to and get after a drunken night or after the night out at the club. Service was quick and ambiance it was many tables and chairs around the establishment with a walk up to the register and put your order in with the cashier. We were drawn in by the pizza by the slice sign, but we realized we all wanted the meat combo so ordered a medium pizza instead. It was $32 dollars (hence only 3 stars). The pizza was ok, a little greasy, but overall good. There are three or four tables inside and three or four tables outside. The inside tables all had trash on them and there wasn't an obvious place to clear your own table. If you are a big The Room fan staring Tommy Wiseau, there are pictures of him with owner on the wall as well as a large mural of him on the side of the building. Quick to help and provide great service. The location is tucked behind the busy embarcadero street. You get there by cutting between two buildings. This is great pizza for the location. It is almost as good a NY Style pizza and I give it similar/higher rankings, mainly because of the service, which is even harder to get these days. I say this only because I tried to get a pizza from the competing pizza place across the street from this one, 40 minutes before they closed, and the chef, sitting in a chair watching TV yelled, "We're closed." I really wanted to try the other place, since they rant and rave about their brick oven, but after that, they lost a customer. I instead went to Pizza Zone, which I have only had slices before in the past. It was same as the other place, close to closing and no one inside. However, the pizza chef at this place was very nice. I asked if he could still cook me a whole pizza, as I had been craving one all week while in San Francisco. He said, "Absolutely," and took my order and began to cook it fresh right in front of me. See the photos attached. I also ordered a beer, and sat outside watching him wield his craft, as I could see his competition sitting lazily watching TV. Note to the competition owner, you lost a customer because of poor service, and Pizza Zone has gained a loyal customer who visits this area a number of times per year, and will continually order from them in the future. I ordered a pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni, sausage, beef, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. He was nice enough to give me extra parmesan cheese, cracked peppers, and plates, without even asking. I arrived in my hotel room and dug in. It was truly amazing. Fresh and extra toppings without even asking. See the photos. The topping were gigantic and tasty. This pizza even beat the taste and quality of some of the local joints in upstate NY, that I frequent. I am glad I gave him a nice tip. This is an excellent representation of a NY style slice in SF, perhaps one of the best. There used to be so many options to get a slice and a soda around the city but over the past 5 or 6 years the quality of pizza (Not going to name names but you know who you are -_-) has gone down quite a bit. And by quite a bit I mean a lot. But not the OG Pizza Zone! This pizza has tasted the exact same for the past 20 years. Same Owner. Same Recipe. Same Ingredients. and most importantly SAME OVEN. And as far as the cheese slice goes- this is one of the best in the city. Expect something along the lines of the infamous NYC dollar slice, of course you're paying 10x but it is a very well-made pizza, I have a feeling the owner probably got the recipe from someone very special. My children brought me a combo pizza, they walked around the corner from our hotel and LUCKED UP! I was staying at Hotel Caza and decided to try this place out after trying "SF's finest pizza" across the steer. Pizza Zone sells pizza by the slice and keeps it heated in a warmer. When you get a slice you can choose your toppings and it will be heated then served. The problem is that if the pizza has been sitting for some time the reheating will cause it to become an oily mess. The amount of grease on this pizza was at least equal to what was regularly on my face as an acne ridden teenager. The pizza was so greasy it leaked through the paper plate onto the table leaving an oily mess. The grease can also be caused by lower quality mozzarella but since I did not get something fresh to order I can't know for sure. There wasn't much flavor and the pizza tasted pretty generic. A slice from Costco is better and is what I would say is a pretty basic slice of pizza. The gentleman at the counter was nice and seems to have regular customers he knows by name. Indoor dining on 4/16/2021. Pizza Zone surprised me. I wasn't expecting a fully loaded pizza. The toppings are jammed packed. The way I enjoy my pizzas, is at the parlor when it is nice and hot. I had to fold the slice to pick it up because there were too many toppings. That tomato sauce mixed in with the mozzarella cheese with the crispy crust and all those toppings put a smile on my face with every bite. Very tasty. Surprisingly not what I expected at nearly 9 PM on a Sunday as Wharf crowds began to disperse. There was almost no one at this place, but we were out of options for places to eat that we weren't tired of, so we gave it a shot. We expected a business that took advantage of the touristy Wharf area, but were greeted by some nice souls and a bang for my buck. For $4, I got a slice of pizza that was nearly 1/4 of a whole pizza. I declined for a drink and before I could even ask for a water cup, they pulled one out with water in it. The pizza came fast and there was no wait time; I got my pizza as soon as I got finished paying with my card. The food itself wasn't hitting all the boxes for the wow factor, but it was cheap pizza sold by the large slices--couldn't have asked for more at this time of the day at this kind of a place overcrowded with seafood joints. Stop by for the cheap pizza and stay for the quiet, peaceful ambience that might make you forget you're near the Wharf. read more

I nice little hole in the wall that makes great pizza. About a block away from Fishermans Wharf, it's definitely worth a walk around the block. I've been to New York, and this reminds me of New York style pizza. The crust is thin and bendable, with a slight toast to it. It tastes soooo good! There were 2 spots to get pizza near our hotel but we ended up here since they have pizza by the slice! I got a pepperoni slice & my husband got a cheese slice. I should've gotten 2 cause they were soooo good. They were made fresh to order & they came out piping hot. I liked how it was New York style.
