~ Look At Those Delizioso Meatza Meatza Pizza ~
    William B.

I have been to a whole lot Pizza Places all over the US!!!! And also tried Pizza on a Cruise Ship which was good as well!!! I have walked by Gochees Pizzeria several times but never ate there until when I got tired of eating at the same pizza place so I have decided to give Gochees Pizzeria a try at the Emabacadero Area Of San Francisco Ca.... So far I have tried eating the Meatza Meatza Pizza, Pineapple Pizza, Combination Pizza, on different times I also had a refreshing COCA COLA & STELLA ARTOIS BIRRA CERVESA.... All The Pizza Slices that I ate on different times tasted really good especially when I had a Stella Artois Birra Cevesa to go along with my delizioso delicioso pizza slices on different days!!!!! It you like Deep Dish Chicago Style Pizza!!!!! This Gochees Pizzeria Location Makes It!!!! If you Yelpers & Yelpettes are shopping around at Embarcadero Area & If your craving for some pizza try going to the Gochees Pizza Place they make really good bueno yummy yummy Pizza's!!!!!

    Seating area

Absolute gas, the dude at the front was very cool and gave great service and opinions. Pizza was phenomenal, the crust was flavorful and crunchy, and the topping ratio to crust was honestly perfect, not too much, not too little. It got great environment too glass windows and you can see everything happening around you.

Olives mushrooms and sausage are my favvvv on a pizza so i had to get these lol

Good pizza. Great customer service. Open early and open late. What more could you ask for ? Plenty of indoor seating. Condiments on every table. Good music and a nice view of downtown while you people watch and eat your slice on a break or before or after work. Great pizza deal as well. Just perfect. They have many options for slices it was hard to choose. Cooked to perfection. I honestly might start eating here tooo much lol

    Everything. Pepperoni and pineapple

Amazing pizza for a good price. They also have beers and a good ambiance for family and friends. Great service and good music.

Woooooow. I stopped in for a lil snack of a slice and I gotta say, pretty damn good! Crispy flavorful crust and good topping to cheese ratio. $5 for a slice? Not bad. Plus they have specials if you're coming for lunch and get a combo! Heavens though, the ambiance. This is probably someone's vibe they love so, ya know like with all things maybe take this with a grain of salt. The music was loud and just awful. I stayed just long enough to eat my slice. Made me want to run out screaming, holding my ears so I wouldn't be subjected one moment longer. Lesson learned, I'll bring headphones next time. Was a lil irked that they did not have anywhere to compost, just trash and recycling. Are we even IN San Francisco?! WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE. But yeah, check it out for a solid slice.

Caesar Salad, chicken a bit dry, a tad too much cheese

This place is solid, but fairly expensive. We ordered a bunch of pizzas delivered to our office: Meat Feast Divinity Power Chicken (changed to Margherita) Garden with gluten free crust Family sized Caesar salad The delivery was scheduled for 11:45. I received a call at around 11:10 that they were completely out of chicken (?!?!?!?!?!?!) and in a quick scramble to look at their menu, chose to replace it with a Margherita as there were coworkers that did not eat pork and every other meat option contained pork. The delivery arrived right on time and everything was piping hot. For 4 pizzas (3 large and 1 medium) and a family sized salad came to $170. We were confused that they were out of chicken as there were heaps of chicken in the caesar salad, but I'm guessing they prepare the chicken differently or used up all the chicken for our salad. Salad: Basic Caesar, lots of chicken (fairly dry) and lots of cheese. Can't really complain, you can't really mess up a Caesar. Extremely happy that it didn't come with croutons as I personally hate croutons, but if you're a fan of croutons you might have to ask about it. Margherita: I am SOOOOOOO glad they ran out of chicken and I got this instead. This was amazing and delicious. Huge chunks of mozzarella and slices of tomatoes. Garden: The gluten free crust was thinner than the other crust and a little sweet. The topping didn't stick well to the crust. I mostly just ate the layer of cheese with veggies and didn't eat the crust. This was okay. I did not have any of the Divinity or the Meat Feast. I tried a bit of the toppings from the Divinity that fell off the slices and the arugula was sweet and paired really well with the cherry tomatoes. My coworker said the prosciutto was too salty for her taste. The Meat Feast was just pepperoni, salami, and sausage, nothing fancy going on there. Overall, I would definitely go here if I wanted a quick slice and didn't want to wait at Tony's for his Margherita.

    Pepperoni & Cheese Lunch Special

Yes, this is yet another Yelp review by a former NYer lamenting the quality of pizza by the slice in San Francisco. To fairly evaluate pizza on a San Francisco scale, I'll set Slice House by Tony Gemignani as the benchmark for a good slice in San Francisco with Arinell as a runner-up. The reheated slices here just didn't live up. I mean, it's pizza, so it's still a tastier lunch than a kale salad. But to quote Yelp's 2-star text "Meh. I've definitely experienced better". Cheese: I always make a point to get a plain cheese slice so I can evaluate a pizza joint on the basics without being biased by toppings. The crust was limp, despite being reheated. Not a crunch to be had. The sauce was strangely sweet and a bit too heavy on the oregano. The cheese didn't have any nice browned bits. It was reminiscent of cheese pizza you'd get at a bowling alley or movie theater. Pepperoni: Better than the cheese, because pepperoni makes everything better. Oddly enough the crust was crunchier and the cheese on this slice was browned a little compared to that plain cheese slice. I also appreciated how the pepperoni got a tad crispy. This was about on par with my favorite thin crust pepperoni pizza from the frozen section at the grocery store. But it wasn't quite "go to a pizzeria" worthy.

    Mushroom and Pepperoni

I was pretty amazed at the lack of pizza options there are in the Financial District. So in this case, it's to Gochees Pizza's advantage since they're one of the few slice houses in the area. 2 slices and a soda for $9 is actually a great lunch deal in the FiDi. My faves are their Mushroom and Pepperoni (http://bit.ly/2l6rVPx) and their their Mushroom and Sausage (http://bit.ly/2l7mRKA). As you can see from the pics, their slices are pretty good! Nice and thin with a good amount of toppings depending on which slice you pick. Gochees is a solid pizza joint. A little expensive since it is in the FiDi, but their pizzas are delicious! Whenever I have a craving for that greasy pizza slice for my lunch break, this is definitely my spot!

I got take out here for my team's potluck since it was super near by my office. I've passed by this place many times and it always smells amazing! I ordered the Margherita pizza and Everything pizza, medium sized. Portions are pretty decent and generous and they were delicious! My favorite is the Margherita pizza, super cheesy. It is more on the pricier side, but that's San Francisco for you. I heard they have a great lunch combo, I think that price is more worth it!

This slice of Pepperoni Pizza is delicious

I took a glimpse inside and noticed the several toppings they had. Also, I saw the menu and this is when I decided to get a slice of pizza. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza, it was delicious and I liked it. The guy taking my order was prompt and friendly. Overall, good first experience here. Nice spot for a pizza place at Embarcadero Center. I'll be back to try other items on the menu. Reasons for rating: - prompt service - delicious pizza - clean facility - friendly guy behind the counter *There is a public parking garage across the street **Routes 1 California and 41 Union has a stop right in front

2 slices lunch special($8)? Got 3 slices 2 of which were terrible. The one in front was great.
    Ahmad J.

I've been to Gochees Pizza a handful of times during lunch as I wanted something better than Portico's pizza. Gochees Pizza is located in the Embarcadero center which is short walk from where I work. During lunch they have a two slice and drink special for $8 which is what I generally get. During my first visit I selected 2 slices which I think were The Everything pizza and The Chicken pizza. What I got was 3 slices. Now why would someone give you three slices when you have ordered only 2? Simple when the extra slices are fit for the trash can. Let me explain. The slice of Chicken pizza was excellent. It had a perfect thickness, was fully loaded, it had a nice crust all of which resulted in a great slice of pie. The 2 slices of The Everything pizza were crap. Old, limp, oily, meaning fit for the trash can. On my second visit was almost perfect, with both slices being terrific. Third visit not so much as the slices were too thick and under-cooked. I think they need to get their entire cook, display and re-heat cycle correct. Overall their consistency is hit or miss. I'm not sure if that is because there are different cooks behind the counter, some better trained than others. Price is cheap for the area and the lunch special makes it even less than Portico. Service needs a little improvement. Simple things like labeling the pizzas in the display case, moving to a token based system, getting their preparation consistency right, will take them to the next level. Till such time that they are able to address these issues, Gochees will be just an A-OK place for lunch.

When the dish landed, I was initially impressed. But after the first bite, it felt a bit like the Wizard of Oz: impressive presentation hiding something less substantial underneath. Their lasagna is a sort of deconstructionist take on the classic dish. The noodles are cooked and layered almost naked between barely any pockets of filling. There were a few tidbits of meat, maybe sauce and no cheese within the layers themselves. The noodles are then baked, cut, plated, and topped with what I'd guess was about a 6 oz ladle of their bolognese, finished with finely pre-grated parmesan. The first bite was overwhelmingly pasta-forward. It took me a moment to understand how the dish had been assembled against my expectations. Once I cut into it and spread everything out, it became clear this wasn't the kind of lasagna I think of when ordering lasagna. It didn't check the familiar boxes - a rich ragù, maybe a creamy béchamel, or the sharp, salty depth of cheeses layered throughout. The dish lacked the complexity and savory comfort I was craving and expecting. Another miss was the homemade flatbread (which I went back and paid cash for, so it wasn't included in the total). Traditional Italian flatbread is a yeast-free bread made with flour, olive oil or lard, salt, and water or milk, then rolled thin and cooked until crisp yet chewy. This version tasted like flour, lard, and water. It wasn't crisp or chewy. As soon as I started chewing, it turned into an unappetizing doughy mass in my mouth. After the first quarter-piece, I didn't eat anymore. As for everything else, I arrived around 7:15 on a Saturday night, and the inside was packed with a small line to the door. The outdoor tables weren't full, but it was summer in San Francisco, more people were jockeying for seats inside than out. But I wasn't too concerned and I got there around 7, so all that is on me. There were a few specials written on a chalkboard, and the cashier was awesome while explaining those. They were incredibly patient. I apologized for holding up the line, and in a very Italian way, they assured me it was my right to make sure I ordered exactly what I wanted. That interaction honestly stood out as one of the better parts of the experience. I grabbed a table just as one opened up, helped myself to water a few times from the station, and my food arrived in about 20 minutes which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. There's been a bit of internal conflict with this review. I usually don't like judging a restaurant based on a single dish, especially a restaurant with so many positive reviews. But I also don't spend as much time in that part of the city anymore, and there are simply too many other places I still want to try. Unfortunately, while there was some good-looking food on other tables, if a restaurant's claim of lasagna as its signature dish doesn't hold up, the first visit just didn't do enough to pull me back for a second chance.
