Made it here for lunch today, had the usual salad and chicken, fantastic! The desert with cookie pie and ice cream wass excellent too.

Sunday night dinner took us to the CB Pizza Ranch because sometimes you just need pizza, chicken, mashed potatoes, and soft-serve ice cream all at once. And when that moment strikes, Pizza Ranch understands. The parking lot didn't seem too busy, but don't let that fool you--the inside was hoppin' with patrons of all ages and energy levels (mostly high energy... mostly from the under-10 crowd). We headed to the counter and happily took advantage of the senior and military pricing--thank you, Pizza Ranch, for respecting both our appetites and our wallets. We didn't hesitate to go full "Buffet Your Way" because honestly, if you're not doing that, are you even living? Pro tip: You can order your favorite pizza when you pay, and they'll bring the first slices to your table before releasing it into the wild (a.k.a. the buffet). Unlimited slices = happiness. We ordered the Texan (a taco-style pizza on thin crust) and the Bronco (meat lovers unite!). Both arrived hot and crispy, just how we like them. Sure, there was a little fumble when the Texan tried to jump ship off the server's spatula and onto the table, but hey, no pizza left behind. We recovered. The buffet itself was pretty standard. The salad bar was running a little low on iceberg lettuce, so my "salad" turned into more of a garnish. I grabbed a breadstick to go with it. It was a little dry, but even a bad breadstick is still pretty good. I quickly moved on to the real star: the chicken. Crispy, hot, and seasoned just right. I grabbed a wing and couldn't resist a little mashed potatoes and gravy with a little corn. No regrets. The atmosphere? Exactly what you'd expect: chaotic charm. Kids running amok, oldies and Christian rock mingling overhead, and the hum of family chatter all around. It's loud, it's lively, it's very much Pizza Ranch. Staff were friendly and quick to clear plates, which is always appreciated. I wrapped up with another cold Coke Zero (bless this Coke Zero establishment!) and couldn't resist a dessert round: a slice of their chocolate chip cookie and a little swirl of vanilla soft serve. Because balance. All in all, it was a satisfying Sunday dinner with my husband and my dad. We'll definitely be back the next time the mood strikes for chicken and pizza at the same time, which, let's be honest, is more often than we care to admit. read more

It's expensive to eat here if you don't do the buffet. I feel like you could eat a lot at the buffet to justify the cost but take out is pricey. 20 pieces of chicken for $51 and family sized coleslaw for $14 seems a lot to me. But then again I don't eat fried chicken much. The associate couldn't find the phone in order and luckily the other associate was paying attention and told her where to find it. He was about to lose his cool and so was I. They had separated the legs from the thighs so that was nice. It smelled good in the car on the way home. They said it was good. And his dad liked the coleslaw. It was greasy so I had bought something else for dinner. While we were waiting I had looked at the buffet offerings and they looked good. Food was ok...I had the salad bar...and it was fresh, stocked well with all the great toppings, also a really great strawberry salad...the guys had pizza and chicken with all the sides...green beans, potatoes, stuffing, fries...ice cream, dessert pizza...(I did stay clear after I saw a small child using his fingers on the food ...I actually saw a teenager (that knows better) than to cough on the the dessert pizza ..very unfortunate because it looked good..this location did not impress me..the highlight was when my husband made a root beer float with the soft serve ice cream/and root beer...BOMB! read more

This was bad, just plain bad. And I think the hardest thing to overlook was that awful customer service. You kinda know when you go to a pizza ranch that there's a good chance it's not gonna be the greatest experience, but this is the worst I've ever had. The worst service ever through the drive thru. I was 6 min late picking up my order that I ordered online but it wasn't ready plus they couldn't find my order at first then told me the chicken was all they were waiting for. So after 20 min waiting I finally got my order apparently from the shift manager and all he did was apologize for being late and that they were really busy. And I said is that's it no discount or give me something extra. He told me there was nothing he could do because they were super busy. We love pizza ranch! We were so excited to move near one! We have to tell ourselves we can only go once a month so we don't gain a ton of weight! The staff here is very nice and they try to do a good job keeping the buffet line clean. It's great you can order any pizza you want and they will bring it to you first before they put it on the buffet. My husband really likes their stuffed crust pizza. Note--they did have to raise their prices due to the price of chicken. I think the evening/weekend price is up to a little over $13/adult. read more

I love the country cowboy theme of this place. The best time to hit this buffet is at high noon and ready for a showdown. The buffet cost around twelve dollars or so, which is a little pricey for a pizza buffet. There are usually around 8 pizza choices set out at any given time. My personal favorite being the cheese overload death that is known as mac and cheese pizza. One stuffed crust is generally available. The Cheese bread is absolutely killer. You can request any type of pizza to be made and delivered to your table. But wait there is more! excellent fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy corn, stuffing, green beans, potato wedges and much more. The salad bar offers a nice selections of greens dressings and a nice assortment of dressings with my favorite Ranch of course. The soft serve ice cream and dessert pizzas add a nice finisher to and already filling overeating session. The Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. read more

This place was overall bad! We ordered a 2 chicken breast dinner for my husband. They came with 1 leg and 1 breast dinner. It wasn't that bad he said. Both of us thought the mashed potatoes were just ok. Buscuits weren't the best either! STAY AWAY FROM THE SOUR CREAM! They do not tell you it has onion in it! I went to Pizza Ranch to support a sister-in-law while she was helping out at the restaurant as a fundraiser for her cheer leading team. And I've been here a couple times before. Their selection is abysmal. One little area for pizza, one little area for the salad bar and one little area for the hot food; that's all. They have no healthy choices for a salad dressing and their salad bar has little to no options for a good salad. Their hot food tastes exactly like buffet food that's been sitting out forever. Their pizza isn't the best either. Their dinner prices are a whopping $11 per person. When she gave my wife and I the total, my mouth dropped. Ridiculous. It has been a while since we have been to the Pizza Ranch in Council Bluffs. Oh my is all I can say. We waited 20 minutes for chicken at the buffet. We saw a family yelling at the staff for how dirty it was tonight and looking for a refund. They just could not keep up and the place was a mess with dirty dishes at several tables that were not bussed. See my picture food all over the floor. In my opinion overall not a good night. The front desk help was very nice felt bad for him. Overall not a good visit. Management must have stayed in the back because of the family who was yelling at the cashier. I've been in with my family a few times and have never left impressed. My kids love it however, so we go in from time to time despite the price far outweighing the quality of food and service. The salad bar is standard, the pizza bland, (seriously - Jacks and Tombstone are better), everything else (with the exception of the fried chicken and ice cream which are both wonderful) is just ok. Even if you go in on a week night there's no guarantee food will stay stocked. On our last visit all 3 coffees were empty and the dessert table was bare for over 15 minutes. read more

Have called 5 times to resolve and told manager would call me. No response from the manager. Contacted corporate. Same. I realize the COVID thing is placing stress on these businesses. I'm incredibly surprised at all the good reviews - it means that either they are fake or we went on the wrong night. I've been to pizza ranch all over the Midwest - never a bad experience, until now. I should have went with my gut when we got there, it was pitch dark at the entrance. Paid $35 for probable food poisoning. I've included the buffet when we arrived and when we left. Not a SINGLE fresh item put out. There were about a half dozen customers in the restaurant. A family came as we were leaving- who clearly was a relative of an employee. They literally hand delivered several while fresh pizza's to the table within 5 minutes of arrival. That was the straw that broke the camels back. I had requested a taco pizza and cheese sticks when we arrived. 30 minutes later, nothing. When I inquired with the clerk I ordered with, she scurried to the back and came back to say "the printer was broken, they didn't make it. We can make it now". I was done at this point and told her to forget it. The entire 40 minutes we were there, I saw one employee in the lobby cleaning - the rest were clearly in the kitchen chatting. I assumed there was no manager on duty (due to the horrific state of the restaurant) and decided to take my experience up with management and corporate personally after leaving. It clearly would have been wasted breath at the restaurant. My daughter had a bad stomach ache after leaving - I suspect it's from the food that sat out for hours prior to our arrival. I've been to Pizza Ranch a few Mondays when they open the place to be started by volunteers. This is the best time to go in my opinion. While there staff does a good job clearing tables and even refilling drinks (no actual wait staff but they do it for their customers when they can), the volunteers are on top of it. Clearing tables and used plates, refills, asking if everything is alright. The experience I had was with the Knights of Columbus. There food is what you would expect of a buffet. Pretty average pizza but what I like best is actually the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn. To top it all of, they have to-die-for desert pizzas and ice cream! Great family environment with Christian music playing and plenty of seating. read more

Ok, first of all you can order a pizza when you pay for the buffet. They bring it to your table and give you as much as you like or you can leave some to put on the buffet table. DO THAT, get the stuffed crust Bronco or Stampede or one of the many others you can get off the menu, they are delicious. But first get just a little mashed potatoes, gravy, a little corn or green beans, mabey some stuffing. and some gravy on top. Put a couple of chicken legs with it, I know the chicken looks different, not like KFC, or Popeyes, or my Italian Aunts chicken, but it is really good. Hot, very crispy, mmm, country good. Yikes. I'm not really sure what happened, because this place used to be a adequately good eatery to come to around the early 2010's. Their food was on par & was cooked fresh, and they would put out a fresh batch while throwing out the old batch. There were more choices of pizza & breadsticks to choose from. The place was more clean back then as well, including the buffet area & it's plates. Even when they were good though, I don't agree with how pricy the buffet was & is. They also used to provide basketballs for people to play with in their basketball court located in the backroom hallway near the restrooms. Since around 2014-15 their service has really went downhill. When we came in last time, the place was visibly not up to hygienic standards. A lot of unknown liquids stained the tables, chairs, floors, as well as the buffet counters where you get your food. I didn't feel comfortable sitting on any of the seats but nonetheless I did since it would be awkward for me to be the only one eating standing up in the restaurant. The plates are disgusting and you have to sift through 6 or more of them until you find one that's reasonably good enough to eat off of. The food is clearly left sitting out for hours; the chicken was discolored, and it wasn't crispy like it usually is - instead it was very slimy as it fell apart when I picked it up with the tongs. There were less pizza choices, and no fresh batches were being made to replace the old pizzas on the buffet which at this point was only 2-3 pizzas. The remaining pizzas were also very unappetizing to look at; quite dry & discolored. Salad bar had a lot of foods that looked abnormally goopy. The basketball court last time had no balls - have to come bring my own basketballs to play. This Pizza Ranch has definitely lost it's spark. read more

I've had some really bad problems with our local Pizza Ranch, so I expected the same with this one. I'm a glutton for punishment. Like all Pizza Ranch's, the food is phenomenal. This is not for the faint of heart. I love their chicken more that KFC, better than Popeyes or Churches. Even better than Chester's. The only complaint I have with this location is the lack of a simple call to let me know they were running 15 minutes late. That's it. Letting customer's know "Hey, we haven't forgotten about your order, we just got a little backed up, your food is on its way." Eases the agony of my kids screaming at me "It's been over an hour! We showed up at about 1:30 on a Friday and this place was packed! I can see why. The buffet price may seem a little high, but the variety of pizza's and other things on the buffet made it worth the cash. They will even make a pizza at your request and bring it to your table and give you the first slices off the pan! We requested a pizza and it took about ten to fifteen minutes to get, and it was gooood. The wait staff are around at all times to pick up your used plates. This Pizza Ranch was very good, back when they opened. I don't know what has happened, but it's not so good anymore. You'll typically find nothing but thighs and wings in the chicken trough, and they are soggy. Or there might be no chicken at all. And the pizza looks like it has been sitting under the warming lights all day. They need to step up their game. read more

The chicken is delicious here, but that is about all this location has going for it, unfortunately. Quite often the restaurant is a mess when my family and I would go there. I understand that at a buffet you should expect some food on the floor during busy times since people are serving themselves, but WHOA has it been awful a couple of times we've been there. Pizza Ranch has amazing pizza and potato wedges. Their staff is friendly, and they always try to keep the pickings on the buffet fresh. They also have a drive-in window for takeout. Once I came to pick up my pizza, and it was taking longer than anticipated, so they gave me a free order of cheesy bread. That was nice. read more

The price is appropriate and the pizza is decent, but I won't be back. I am not a fan of restaurants who are in-your-face about religion. I realize it's their right to run their business in that manner, but its also my right to choose not to patronize those establishments.
