One of our favorite date night spots! The jalapeno poppers are to die for! The prime rib is delicious! Cozy bar and dining area! Great service every time! Highly recommended!

Party room behind the curtain. Had to walk through someone else's party to get here.

Not my first rodeo at Pizza King, but this time I was here for a party. Getting to the area was interesting. We had to stroll through someone else's party to get to our side of the partition. Awkward, but hey, adventure! The party area was set up nicely with a buffet, presents, and tables. Our server was friendly once I flagged her down for a Diet Coke. The buffet featured pizza, salad, and bread. The bread was amazing, clearly from Orsi's, but a little marinara for dipping would have made it legendary. Salad was standard iceberg with your choice of dressing. Pizza-wise, the hosts went with Cheese, Combo, Hawaiian, Buffalo Chicken, and a Bullseye, which was made with BBQ chicken, jalapeno, and cream cheese. Party-style, thin crust, and honestly the cheese pizza was the highlight. The bullseye came out later and was tasty, though the chicken cubes made me wish for some classic pepperoni instead. Surprise of the night was the Hawaiian, which had a shrimp hiding under the cheese. Big nope for me. Overall, it was a fun night celebrating the birthday girl, but the experience felt a bit meh. Bonus points for letting you bring your own birthday cake, and they provide plates and forks. Next time I am at Pizza King, I will stick to my usual steak.

This is my favorite all time pizza, I have been eating at Pizza King as long as I can remember, and it's just as good today as it was when I was a kid. They also have a full menu that is very nice, particularly the chicken parm, but 9 times out of 10 I get the pizza. The pizza style is probably akin to a cross between St. Louis style and pub style. Definitely thin crust, which is my favorite style. The restaurant itself hasn't changed too much over the years, which brings back great memories every time I go, they also have a cool bar area and large party rooms. The staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is always spotless. Sometimes the pizza takes a bit to cook if they are busy, but trust me, it's totally worth the wait.

Hawaiian Special Pizza (the half to take home)

What's in a name? I wouldn't have thought a place named Pizza King would be an up-scale restaurant. But it truly is! Celebrating our anniversary, my wife and I enjoyed a great meal there. Great food, excellent service, and a nice atmosphere made for a wonderful experience. The only problem was navigating our way into the parking lot -- the entrance near a busy intersection is a bit difficult to determine even using Google Maps. Just a minor hurdle though. My wife chose the Steak and Shrimp with sides of Mostaccioli (pasta w/ marinara sauce) and Vegetables. The steak was tender and juicy--very good! The other items were also good. Her meal came with a nice dinner salad with dressing served on the side. Since I wanted to see why they have their name, my choice was the Hawaiian Special Pizza (so many pizza options to choose from). It was delicious! I ordered a large so that we could take half home to enjoy the next day. [The photo shows the half that was left; I neglected to take the shot until we had finished eating.]

I stopped at Pizza King in Council Bluffs this evening after skiing in Crescent, thinking it was a pizza place. To my surprise, it's actually a steakhouse--but what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! I ordered the prime rib, which was a little overcooked compared to what I ordered, but still absolutely delicious. It came with a loaded baked potato and green beans, and the meal was incredibly filling. The cut of steak was massive, and the flavors were spot on. The ambience felt very "classic steakhouse" with a cozy and inviting vibe. I sat in the bar area, which had several tables, and overall the space was comfortable. While one of the waitresses was a bit dry, Will, the other server, was fantastic. He checked in on how the prime rib was cooked, and when I mentioned it was slightly overdone, he surprised me by bringing out a replacement. I appreciated the gesture but declined since the steak was still delicious as it was. That level of customer service really stood out. Overall, the meal was great--good food, good atmosphere, and attentive service from Will. I'd definitely recommend stopping by for a hearty and satisfying meal.

Thin Crust Pizza!!!! This pizza was packed with toppings - beef, sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and yes green olives. The olives give that splash of saltiness to this that makes the pizza. The service was on par and had a great time.

Lunch specials start at $7.95, and let's be honest, you hardly see that anymore these days. We walked in and it's a cute little spot in the old downtown area. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming. I ordered the cannelloni, which was baked and hearty. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs with a small Greek salad, and we also ordered mussels for the kids. Everything was delicious. They served complimentary bread, which was so garlicy, buttery, and delicious. They gave us eight pieces for four people! Our total for four people was $38, and the service was great. Perfect for a casual lunch after museum exploring. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want a good meal that won't break the bank!

We were seated right away, and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The hostess let us know they had workers outside, but we were totally okay with the noise, which ended up being very minimal. We didn't order any drinks, but for food, I decided to try the birria grilled cheese, which comes with one side, and I chose fries. Not only did it look so appetizing, but it tasted AMAZING. The bread had some sort of seasoning on it that added so much flavor to the sandwich. The fries were seasoned exceptionally well too. I'll definitely be back sometime soon to try more items. The food today was 10/10, and our waitress was very kind and attentive as well.

I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.

This restaurant is quietly tucked away near the old town portion of Council Bluffs. Metered Street parking is available in the area. We were there mid afternoon and there was quite a bit of activity. I'm guessing that this location gets a lot of traffic later in the evenings and on weekends. Don't let the slightly frazzled menus fool you, this restaurant is immaculate! I cannot believe that I have never been here before. The hours of this restaurant and its menu clearly reflect the ability to get Mexican style breakfast, lunch or dinner all day long. Our servers bilingual capability reflects the clientele that are attracted to this wonderful spot. Great chips, nice fresh salsa with a little bit of heat and very good guacamole. I love the fact that they offer a little bit smaller portions so that you don't end up feeling like you have to stuff yourself or leave a little bit behind. The pricing is great and clearly beer and margaritas are readily available. There is even a corner of the restaurant that caters to Mexican style snacks. Great desserts too! We will definitely be coming back here again - and so should you!

Mother's Day in Flavortown, folks. Buckle up…read more I confess... I dropped the ball on making a dinner reservation early, and when options ran low, Guy Fieri's place came to the rescue. We've been here before and had a decent time, but this was the first visit with the full crew: husband, kids, and my dad. Let's just say... we had a mix of opinions. We arrived right on time and were seated without a hitch. Our server was super sweet, though there were a couple of small mix-ups with the drinks. No harm done, and it got sorted quickly, and everyone had something to sip while we waited. Food-wise, we ordered up a little tour of the menu: Husband: Trashcan Nachos (his go-to) Me: Plain Jane Burger + Fry Trio Kids: Off Da Hook Fish & Chips Dad: Classic BLT The wait for food was pretty standard. My burger was decent, but something had a sour tang...maybe the tomato or pickles? The tomato was hot, soggy, and a little sad. I scraped it off and moved on. The fry trio, however, was the real winner. Waffle, curly, and straight fries all together? Perfection. The kids liked their fish and chips, but honestly, it was mostly chips. Two small pieces of fish were buried under a skillet of fries. I get it... "Chips" is in the name, but maybe dial it back a bit, Guy? My dad's BLT looked fine, but if his tomatoes were like mine, I doubt it gave "fresh from the garden" vibes. He said it was "decent," which in dad-speak means, "I'll eat it, but I'm not excited." Dessert was where the magic happened. We got the cheesecake and the brookie. The cheesecake? Meh. Not terrible, just cheesecake. But that brookie? Absolute showstopper. Half brownie, half cookie, served warm in a cast iron skillet, topped with ice cream, salted bourbon caramel, and toffee bits. That little skillet of joy made the whole meal worth it. Would I go out of my way to eat here again? Probably not for the main dishes. The food is fine, but for the price, I know I can find better. That said, if I'm ever wandering through the casino in search of something sweet? You better believe I'll be back for that brookie. It was Out. Of. Bounds.

My first visit was to the main restaurant which is a dining room and viewing access to the building exterior over the Cove concert venue. Stopping over for lunch today I was under the impression I would have the same experience. I was surprised to find that the main dining room was closed, and only the kitchen area was open, which is a small and less formal, but still serving the same menu. Full table service was offered but there was no mention of the change in dining venue on their website. Apparently due to volume and staffing issues the larger dining room is only open on the weekends. One advantage to visiting earlier in the day is that you can order from either the breakfast or the lunch menu. Nice selection of appetizers, my favorite is the towering onion plate which is a nice shareable appetizer. Enjoyed the old-fashioned Philly style cheesesteak which was a huge portion and afforded leftovers for later! Recommend checking when the larger dining room is open to avoid my mistake, but still worth a trip if you're looking for some good and creative bar food!
