I really enjoyed Pizza Punks. The atmosphere is casual, funky and fun. The decor is a mixture of bright and industrial. This is a great place to go with friends to hang out, but I wouldn't recommend it for large crowds. The music is kind of loud, and the waiters don't get in a big hurry. The pizza is delicious. I really appreciated the availability of vegan cheese for my pie. The crust was chewy, and the toppings fresh and delicious.

When Pizza Punks first came up with their 'crazy' pizza concept about unlimited toppings for the flat fee of £9 I was instantly worried. Call me Mr Cynical Fussy Pants, but if you're gonna give people the choice of unlimited toppings they are gonna invent some crazy-ass pizza's that will probably end up tasting like a Ninja Turtle's bad nightmare. Anyway, it turns out that this time my Spidey senses were right as the overall dining experience was a flat out Meh! There's been a lot of hype about Pizza Punks opening and its disappointing that they've really failed to hit the mark in my humble opinion. Yes the idea is interesting and original, however I just wanted a pizza with peppers and pepperoni and for £9 it ain't exactly outstanding value for money. Firstly, let me tell you that the pizza's in here are small. Everyone knows I'm a greedy little swine, so perhaps not the best judge, however, my dining companions agreed the pizzas were kids sized. The toppings were more sparse than Wayne Rooney's dwindling hair follicles and the pizza was drier than a badgers arm pit. Also, and this was my biggest gripe it had ZERO taste. There was very little in the way of tomato sugo, hence the complete lack of taste and moisture and it was probably over cheesed. The whole thing just tasted cheap and I kinda just felt cheated. To make matters worse when we arrived we were told they were busy but would be escorted to a table in 20 minutes should we wish to wait by the bar. We did duly oblige, but it took just 20 minutes to order a bloomin' drink and then we didn't get a table for close to an hour, so a quick pizza turned out to be "a long and drawn out affair". I should probably start to talk about the positives at this point. The first, is the craft beer list. Its pretty darn decent and the barkeep made some excellent IPA recommendations which I thoroughly enjoyed. The second positive is I actually quite liked the feel of the place and the wacky neon lighting. However again, like the pizza topping, I felt it was a bit sparse and definitely lacking tables. Its hard to do a pizza review nowadays without comparing it to Paesano's. They really have set the bar so high that currently no one can get close. I'm afraid, for the time being these guys ain't anywhere near and unless they shake things up soon I cannot see myself returning.

So this place is finally open after teasing us all with the awesome temporary facade of awesomeness. As you walk in its like a converted warehouse so very high ceilings and a trendy vibe with scissor style extending lights on the ceilings, a nifty touch! The staff are all lovely, very welcoming and engaging as i sat down, quickly and easily explained the menu to me and how it works. Also suggested i get one of the side dishes and i was worried that meant the pizza would take a while but this was not the case, id advise maybe leaving these, as tasty as they are, as the pizza is pretty filling. I had the garlic and rosemary foccacia which was around 4 strips (i had eaten 2 already by the picture) and was exceptionally tasty. Onto the pizza!! I decided to "punk it!" which means making your own and it was the main thing that drew me in here when i heard about it. You start off and choose your base (sourdough or additional £2 for gluten free), choose your sauce and then up to 10 toppings. I had about 7 with some very tasty ones such id recommend such as the tuscan sausage, meatballs and speck which is pork ribs i think. One ill have to try later is chipotle and choclate pulled pork. so i had all f this, some lemon thyme chicken (also a good try), mozzarella, parmesan, mushroom, sweetcorn and chilli flakes. Sooo tasty and as its make your own you can never really be dissapointed. As an addition tasty bit you can have sage oil or chili oil as well. A fully stocked bar, milkshakes listand dessert menu complete the deliciousness, didnt try these this time as i was stuffed but sooooon! Id definetely go back here and cant wait to try some of the other things in my head to make!

Loving their indoor messages!

The best way to sum up the Pizza Punks experience is... "It's okay". Definitely not the best pizza I've had in Glasgow, our pizzas were just average. We had two "Punk it" pizzas and one from the suggested menus (we were three, not all for me!) and I have to say the quality of the pizza and the ingredients was rather underwhelming. The interior was interesting, the staff were friendly (although very disorganised... we had different people asking us the same questions one after another). Drinks took a while to get served but the pizzas came quickly. And although the design of the place was nice, we were there for the pizza and that didn't live up to the expectation. The idea is great - get any amount of toppings you fancy for £9 with the same quality/quantity of "standard" pizzas. On paper, all of our pizzas sounded amazing but in reality they were just ok.. I had a pizza with mozarella, nduja + chorizo sausage, onion, jalapenos and olives; my other half had the breakfast pizza (bacon, sausage, black pudding and fried egg) and our friend had tuscan sausage with roasted peppers and some cheeses. From all the pizzas, the one that had the most taste was the breakfast one. My pizza has something resembling mozzarella but it was neither creamy nor tasty. The tomato sauce was pretty dull and the chorizo + nduja sausage added very little taste. The tuscan sausage pizza was a bit more exciting as you got the spices coming through a lot better. Overall the pizzas were not bad, but not great either. With other, more exciting and authentic pizza places I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

So much potential here...

There had been a lot of hype building up to Pizza Punks opening, a new way of eating pizza they said, get the toppings you want both in quantity and difference they said. But did it live up to the hype? For this guy, sadly not. It was a Sunday and we were there as a group of six before going to see the almighty Less Than Jake at The Academy who, despite the ever increasing annoyance of places not taking bookings, managed to get seated quickly. That was the only quick part of the evening. To start with drinks orders first took some agitated hand waving to get taken and then arrived a good 10 minutes later and were both wrong and served with an attitude. The menu in theory is straightforward you pick the toppings you want on your pizza but is actually more of a minefield than you would imagine and I found myself more drawn to their already considered suggestions. I eventually picked some flat meats (pepperoni, salami & speck), artichokes and olives with the standard tomato base. Before the pizzas though there was some starter action on the go. A total night and day experience in itself. I had plumped for the Beetroot & Goats Cheese Bruschetta which was lovely although could have been even better with a crack or two of black pepper, of which I duly obliged myself with, and a squeeze of lemon. The candied bacon though, that a couple of our party got, was quite frankly a bit of a joke, burnt bits on bacon with no hint of sweetness served in a short glass. If it had been me presented with that I would have asked for a refund. With a mixed starter experience and pretty poor service so far (barring one chap who seemed on the ball) the pizza had a lot to live up to. The pizza...was good! Not great but good enough to claw back some ground, I really liked the tomato base but my joy was tempered when I realised how stingy the topping distribution had been. Now I'm sure there is a fairly robust economic model behind the "anything you want concept" but if that model is built on stiffing the amount you put on the pizza in relation to the number of toppings requested it needs a look at. Put the price of the pizzas up if need be. Because quite frankly I felt a bit cheated even if it was tasty. I'm not a dessert guy but the ice cream ordered by the others in the group got a mild thumbs up although not explaining why the cookies were replaced with random pick'n'mix again went against the service. From sitting down to leaving we were there for 2 hours, for a quick pre-gig bite. I started this review with the intention of giving it 3 stars but by the end of it, it has to be 2. The concept is there but it needs some work, as does the service. Aaarrgghh, so disappointing!

Freak milkshaaakes

Upon seeing a picture of their milkshakes on Instagram, I knew I had to try this place (- they do bring all the boys and gals to the yard indeed haha). I found myself a partner in crime and got to Pizza Punks just in time for late lunch - so while we were at it, why not try the pizza as well, right? They do have an extensive menu with plenty of choices of toppings you can combine as you like, but since we were pretty hungry and uncreative, we decided to go for one of the recommended option - the goats cheese & roasted vegetables pizza. It came pretty quickly and I'd say it was one of the best pizzas I've had in Glasgow. The roasted vegetables on top were some pretty huge chunks, which I imagine someone might not like, but I didn't really mind + you can see they used fresh vegetables this way. The crust was really nice and tasted great. And goats cheese was goats cheese - nothing can really go wrong there. Now there was a pretty long wait for the milkshakes (we ordered them simultaneously with the pizza and got them about ~5mins after finishing it), but they do give you water to drink meanwhile and the shakes are worth the wait. I opted for the Strawberry cheesecake shake and my friend got the Salted caramel one and both looked georgeous. I think, in fact, that the presentation is what's the best about those shakes. Don't get me wrong, they taste pretty good too, but I've had better tasting shakes in my life. But have I had a better looking one? No. Definitely a way to go to enrich your Instagram feed. The staff was pretty attentive (although their attention slowly faded away as time passed and it took us pretty long to get the bill) and the interior is pretty cool (but the way to the toilets is bit of a maze). Overall, I really enjoyed my visit there and wouldn't hesitate to go back if I found myself in the area craving pizza. After all, there's still lots on the menu to be explored.

Soggy vegan pizza

As much as I wanted to love Pizza Punks, I just couldn't. We each got a "create your own" pizza to-go, which we ordered in person. Our pies came out quickly and we walked five minutes back to our place to eat. When we opened the pizzas, we both were missing toppings (mine was sans vegan chorizo) and the crusts were dissolve-in-your-hand soggy and practically inedible. Although we're usually pizza fiends, we only managed to choke down two slices each before throwing the rest away. Very disappointing.

Great pizza place that had all the toppings you wanted, one price along with great drinks from the bar. We would definitely do this again!

Great pizza place with great pizza and drinks! Staff was very attentive to us and kept the drinks coming!

Had the Goth ice cream which a black coconut ice cream With Jäegermeister syrup black sprinkles and wafer .Coconut creamy meets chocolate bitters and orange citrus . The syrup they use is sweet and thick and adds another dimensions of texture to this already complex up desert . Absolutely fabulous . I will definitely be back to try their buckfast shake . --- Came back the next day because I wanted to get their extremely limited goth dessert again which they were sold out of . Sad . But at least I had the chance to take advantage of their £4 Tuesday burger meal deal . I added caramelized onions for an extra pound but would recommend springing for the cheddar cheese or bacon for an extra £2 which is still a good deal ! As the the taste ? It's £4 burger with fries . No complaints ! As for the buckfast shake ...what an interesting concoction . It's strong ...I can only imagine what having straight buckfast would be like ..I'm glad my first time was in shake form as I'm sure the cream and milk toned down the alcohol and sharpness a lot . The overall flavor really grows on you . It reminds me of like a Neapolitan shake ( heavy on the chocolate and strawberry and no vanilla ice cream ) with a crap ton of added fermented strawberries and maraschino cherries and maraschino cherry syrup . If I was the chef I'd tweak this by adding a rum flambé banana slice or just banana in general would be so nice . I like this place a lot and would low key love to be a business partner or be able up a similar place in the States . Definitely a gem in Glasgow.

I'd had shrimp scampi pizza before and pizza with escargot many years ago and was surprised at how well seafood and pizza go together. The Frutti di Mare pizza from Almafi's was no exception. With calamari, mussels and king prawns topping a tomato sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan base, there was plenty of flavor. I happily devoured most of the pizza and was glad my hubby had filled up on onion rings so I didn't have to share more than a couple of slices. Loved the pizza so much, I made sure it was also the last thing I ate before departing Glasgow to fly back to Dublin. First pizza the dough was more puffy, which I preferred. The second one was a flatter dough but still delicious. This was likely because the pizza oven wasn't as hot or the dough had rested differently - the first one was in the evening and the second flatter one was just as they opened at 11:30am. Note that their signage refers to opening at noon, but their website and Google say 11:30.

So maybe it was ill advised that this was the exact time I chose to drag my other half to Sarti but I think I got away with it. The staff didn't seem to mind at all that we'd showed up so late and without a reservation. We were welcomed, seated and our drinks orders were taken (I was gently guided away from an inferior bottle of wine to a nicer one for the same price, which is always a nice touch). I ordered a mixed wild mushroom pizza while my partner went for the spaghetti bolognese and everything was absolutely delicious, fresh and perfectly prepared. I love a good mushroom pizza and this is one of the better ones I've tried in Glasgow. We briefly considered dessert but, being the last people in the restaurant this time, decided it would be better to save it for a time when we were more organised. We paid the bill and were invited to a small glass of limoncello with the staff before we left. My partner normally hates the stuff (although he likes lemons) but actually enjoyed this one, so there's another minor victory. I've visited Sarti before but with a large group and found everything to be great on that occasion too but it was quite a long time ago. It's good to know that they're still doing everything right. We'll be back soon and hopefully at a more reasonable time.

When we arrived we were suprised to see how posh it was (I'm so glad I wore a dress with my trainers) I felt a little undressed but did not feel looked down at by any of the staff. I was driving so did not get to enjoy the free drink. then came the canopies, they were beautiful to look at and tasted amazing, my favourite was the goats cheese tarts. The staff were fun and friendly, I think they liked us as we were having a laugh with them and they were soon coming straight to our table with the yummy treats. The restraunt is classic and grand looking, with the bar in the middle. The toilets are downstairs and you get to have a nosey into the kitchen on your way past. They had a live brass band playing lots of modern classics like Beyonce which was good fun. Gusto is part of the Living Ventures group (Grill on the Corner, conveniently over the road from Gusto) and serves Italian food. The restaurant is beautiful, quite similar to Grill on the Corner actually with be classy dark timber, gold finishing a and lots of mood lighting. The restaurant is split into sections so you won't feel like you're in a huge space even though it's a generous-sized restaurant. There's a bar right in the middle which is nicely decorated with stained glass and a tasty selection of booze. Of course, it's Monday lunchtime so I'm not drinking. The menu has great non-alcoholic options like coolers for £4. I opted for a mint and strawberry cooler which was absolutely lush: the barman here clearly knows what he's doing. I'm going to have to return for cocktails! Onto the food. I went for baked gnocchi with a side of spinach. The gnocchi had nduja through it - quite a lot actually as it was pretty spicy! Not unbearable though and overall this was a really nice dish, good portion size and perfectly baked. The spinach wasn't quite as good and was quite watery, and some of the leaves needed their stems trimmed. Overall I enjoyed it here a lot. The service is warm and friendly, and Holly who was looking after the area I was seated in was great and really knew her stuff. I do have to say the front of house wasn't quite as good and seemed a little confused and unsure, but the place has just opened so that's no big deal. All up, I was really impressed with my lunch and I'll be back soon.
