Tables not wiped down, messy floor, bad service and sold out of almost everything. Miss when Sarah owned it. So sad.

I haven't had the pizza yet, but I love the gyros they have. They are huge and full of sauce. And the tomatoes are always delish.

Came here on a Monday night and while most of the bar seats were taken, it was otherwise mostly…read moreempty. Sat at the end of the bar and the bartender was nice enough to switch the TV from Twilight to football. I totally forgot to ask for extra sexy spice on my wings (their words not mine), but got an order of original wings and some mushrooms with spice seasoning on it. I guess there's some kind of Happy Hour special they have as I got two beers through the night and they were only $3 each. The mushrooms were exceptional. I was used to small button fried mushrooms you get at other places, but what I got were huge slices of portobellos, and the spice on the breading took them to the next level. The wings were also great, and while I wish I got more spice on them, they were cooked perfectly with a bit of tang and a bit of heat. They were good sized and sauced just the right amount. Yes, it looks like a house, and is in the middle of nowhere. One day I'll ask what's in the rest of the house above the bar. But next time I need to come up to Madison for work I'm definitely making another visit.

You walk up, place your order at the bar, grab a number, and find a table. Tables are first come, first served, so if you see one open, take it. Drinks are a cooler of options or beer and soda on tap. Cash is preferred -- there's a fee if you pay with a card. The vibe is Wisconsin dive bar, in the best way. I ordered the dry rub wings. The flavor was fantastic -- the kind where you don't need a sauce, but you reach for the ranch anyway because it's that good. Seriously, that ranch dressing could go on anything. My best friend got the original wings and said the heat level is comparable to BW3 medium -- noticeable but not overwhelming. If you like wings, Chicken Licks is worth the trip.

Full Mile Beer here looked like the ticket, and it turned out to be a wise choice. Although this is a brewery, we had to swing with an old-fashioned to start, this being Wisconsin and all. Brandy for me, bourbon for our Grandson. Wife, being the designated driver, had a Diet Coke. The bartender knew what they were doing because the Old Fashioneds were delicious. Wife said the throw on the Diet Coke was very good. Grandson had an order of wings for appetizer, which he reported were excellent. We all had the FM Deluxe Smashburger-double patties, Minus the cheddar cheese. (We don't like cheese on our burgers, even in Wisconsin. Don't judge.) They were well seasoned and very tasty. I'm not usually a nut about french fries, but these were extraordinarily good. We asked for ours well done, and they were crunchy masterpieces. We had to sample the beer, and went for the "Evening In Prague" Dark Czech Lager. It was excellent. Like many of these modern breweries, it's a big open airy room. We sat at one end of a long community table. The bar looked eminently stocked (Surprised to see a rather large collection of rye whiskeys-You don't see that that often). We found Sun Prairie to be a pleasant little town, and the Full Mile Beer Company to be a great place to have a bite and a cocktail. Go there and explore.

The quality of ingredients used in both were top-notch and we would highly recommend! Also happy that we got to meet Bill and wish the place the best. Hope to make it a yearly trip, if not sooner.

The immediate area, which is downtown Sun Prairie was super cool and cute. Lots of shared spaces and mixed use buildings that included the building Nitty Gritty sits in. There are a few Nitty Gritty's scattered across the Madison area, but my buddy recommended this location due to convenience. We popped in on night 2 of the NFL draft, which is why we bellied up to a high top in the bar area. Nitty Gritty is more sports bar than anything, but if the bar is not your scene, they have several dining spaces inside and out. We started with a couple of beers and cocktails, and while we reviewed the dedicated "birthday shot book", we decided to stick with standard drinks...but the birthday shot thing is apparently a big deal here! My buddy went local beer from the tap and I went gin & tonic. Bad call on my part, as even though that is a basic cocktail, this is not a cocktail bar. The drink was not good, so second round I went Spotted Cow as well. All was right in the world in that moment. For food, we went quintessential bar food with wings and burgers. My buddy got the Smokehouse Burger, which is their house-bbq burger served on Texas toast. He sided it with the fries and noted that both were decent, not great, but also not terrible. Both lacked seasoning, especially the burger patty itself. I opted for the wings, black and blue dry rub to be specific. The wings were good size and fried well, very crispy and meaty for a wing. The seasoning, while present, was not very flavorful. I expected a bit more from a Cajun based rub. Food wise, it was just okay. Service was a hit and miss throughout the evening. While the place was not busy, the service was a bit slow for the amount of staff we noticed. We waited on refills and re-orders a bit longer than normal, especially sitting the bar area. This location has been here for a while and it shows in parts of the building interior and exterior. While conditionally certain areas need some love, the spaces were all clean and well kept. Overall, Nitty Gritty was okay. Seemed like your standard local sports bar with mid-level food and service. With that being said, I may be interested in spending time here for a birthday given that shot book!
