Updating a review from many years ago because some things simply don't change and Pizza Oven is one of them. I still willingly drive out to Lockport just for this pizza and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I *always* order a sheet pizza and it never disappoints. Whether it's hot out of the oven or cold leftovers, Pizza Oven's signature sweet sauce is everything... maybe even a little addictive. I know sweet sauce isn't for everyone but for me it's pure perfection. I can (and do) eat way too many slices in one sitting - all with zero regrets. Pizza Oven is consistently delicious and I get the consistency every single time. The service is fine, I usually call ahead to place my order. The ambiance of the pizzeria is, maybe a little run down but it's like a good dive bar - the greasier, the better. Whether it's for a game day, a family gathering, or just because, Pizza Oven is always my go-to when I'm in WNY. I am a sucker for Pizza Oven. It is not my most frequently visited slice in Lockport, but when I am craving it, nothing else will do. The slices are cheap, often ready when you have a drive by craving and are always consistent. I happen to like a sweet sauce pizza, which is a regional specialty. If you don't, you will without a doubt hate it. If you haven't had it, I would suggest giving it a try and keeping an open mind, but know this is not a normal slice. In addition to liking the pizza as a whole, anywhere that uses cup char pepperoni gets a bonus star from me. Are the the cleanest looking? No. Do they have seating? No. Do they do anything awesome outside of the pizza? No. So, know what you're getting into and if it's your thing, you'll love it. I'm more of a traditional pizza sauce person, but still very much enjoyed this place. The crust is thin, soft, with crispy burnt edges. What a great little place for pizza and wings! On the recommendation of our daughter we wanted to try a new place for pizza (and wings) so we have them a shot. The pizza. Crust was a thin crust with sauce and cheese all the way to the end. Sauce was sweet and the pepperoni was charred and cupped like old school pizza. The wings. Half mild and half honey garlic. It has been pry 20 years since I last ate here. It is just as good as I remembered. The prices are still very reasonable and the menu has quite a few options. Pizza Oven is a staple of Lockport. Everyone knows it for its sweet sauce, cup-n-char pepperoni, and it's just good hangover greasy pizza. However, I have an issue with the owner, John. He is loud, crass, and extremely inappropriate, always running his mouth no matter where he is and doesn't matter who he offends with his opinion. Just recently, he decided to share his views on what "makes a real man" and how liking certain foods and condiments make you gay. As a gay man, who isn't offended easily, this pissed me off. I also know from past experience that his employees are not hygienic. I worked a loading job with two of the workers there, who would get disgustingly sweaty and gross before going to their job at the pizzeria, never cleaning or showering before clocking in. There are many other pizzerias in the WNY region, and Lockport, that I will take my business to. read more

The pizza is the original sweet sauce for which Lockport pizza is known for. The crust is soft and thin and reminds me a bit of the Indian bread Naan. The pepperoni is the classic cup and char with plenty of grease filling the cups. Yes, the sauce is very sweet, the crust is soft and thin, the edges get burned, it's greasy, they slice it weird, that's what makes it great. Just know this going into it. Everyone should give it a try to see if they are a lover or hater. Their wings are average sometimes better than others. On this occasion the medium was a little lacking. This was a first and a last time we will go to Pizza Oven. Buffalo pizza is the best in the United States hands down! This was recommended to me by my BIL who used to live in Lockport. We recently ordered Franco's pizza for our daughter's birthday party at Monster Golf. He stated that we were missing the boat by not trying this place instead. And so it goes kinda like this... The crust was flimsy and doughy, edges burnt (not good burnt like a Bocce club pizza). The sauce was overwhelmingly sweet. Remember the taste of corn syrup? Now add that to your favorite red sauce + thin it out more. That's what you get! Cheap cheese and sparingly so applied. The best part were the burnt pepperoni. We make our own dough and our own sauce. I grew up in an Italian & Polish household where there was love and care put into anything we cooked or baked. This was thrown together by someone who needed to get that next order out and done so they could get a smoke break perhaps? If you're going to try this place out, I recommend just buying a slice first. 3/3 in our house gave it thumbs down. Sorry Pizza Oven. Don't try printing off any coupons from the internet they won't take them. I printed some off and they turned them down then I found out the same thing happened to my mother in law a month ago. Personally, I think it is bad customer relations and just makes the customer mad for a few bucks. I'll start off with the good, they have great wings. We got them extra crispy and plain so we could dip them ourselves in the sauce. Some of the best wings I've had in awhile. Now the bad, there pizza just isn't good. The sauce is super sweet which I personally hate, but I know some people love. Our pizza was also over cooked. I liked the pepperoni's. I literally just got home about 3 minutes ago. Just moved to Lockport and have been told by many people we have to try pizza oven. We ordered a large cheese pizza and single order of wings medium. When we got home the wings were dry and had barely any sauce on them. They looked like plain wings. The pizza was not cooked all the way through and was extremely soggy in the middle. I had to put the pizza in my oven at home so that we could actually eat it, as well as add the wing sauce I had in the fridge to the wings we ordered. We will never go here again. This is the best pizza I have ever tasted. I live in Buffalo but visited my father in Lockport every weekend when I was a child. We would get pizza oven pizza all the time, for every birthday party and just simply because I would come there on the weekends. Maybe the second time is a charm. Just this week we gave Pizza Oven a try, and it tasted pretty good. The first time we had it, back in January, the sauce was just too sweet and seemed a mismatch with the cheese and the rest of what constitutes pizza. This time the sweetness and understated.
