Ha-ha-ha ... Still laughing about my visit here to "Pizza Johny's" ... (yes, spelled with one "n.") Johny - the owner - is a real trip! Upon entering this pizza establishment, my boyfriend and I were warmly greeted by Johny himself in a tough Italian mobster New Yoooork accent ... "Hello! How you doin'?" ... ha-ha-ha! As we placed our order with the cute & cheerful cashier, we mentioned that it was our first time there. Then, on cue, Johny and the entire staff loudly chant "First timers!! First timers!!" and we received a round of applause! Ha-ha-ha!! We felt like celebrities ... so much personal attention! We ordered a medium sized pizza (6 slices) and ate it on the premises at one of their 4 small indoor tables. (They also have 4 small outdoor tables.) We chose 3 toppings: ricotta, meatball, and mushroom. Yum! The crust was scrumptious! It was like "dinner & a show" as we were constantly amused by the interactions between Johny and all the customers coming and going. The place got quite busy. Lots of regulars coming in to pick up their previously placed orders. A steady stream of deliveries going out the door, too. At one point, I heard Johny tell a customer to "get in the zone ... CAL-ZONE!" Haaa! Clever! There is a mafia job application form hanging on the wall, so, naturally, I jokingly asked Johny for a couple applications. I informed Johny that I, too, am from New York (but the opposite end of the state) and that my small hometown was full of Italians. Johny told me that he'd have his people call my people. Ha-ha! Needless to say, I was delighted with both the pizza and the service. 5 stars! Just want to warn you about the parking ... it is very challenging, to say the least! Pizza Johny's is located in a small yet very busy plaza along Sunset Drive where you'll find a daycare center, Latin restaurant, Chinese restaurant and more. Good Luck finding parking! read more

This place is literally walking distance from my job and its always packed with people at all times of day so i decided to walk in one day and saw they have a lunch special, two cheese pizzas and a soda for $5.99 so i gave it a try and it did not disappoint! Really really good, authentic, hand-made NY-Style Pizza. This is now my go to pizza place whenever i order pizza even at home. Not only is there pizza amazing but are their chicken wings and fries and pasta dishes, everything is literally homemade, all the sauces. I gave 1 Star because there is not less that I can give and give a response. I'll get this part out of the way. It's great Pizza. The problem is that they always screw up the order. I've never NOT had a problem. This last time gave me enough motivation to write the review. I ordered my Pizza at 9:25 pm and never got it. I called at 10:30 pm and even though they close at 10:00 pm, it's a restaurant. People are still there and no on answered my 5 plus calls. I ordered delivery because my car is in the shop. 12:30 am now and going to bed with no dinner. No matter how good it is, I'll never order from there again. And I'll make it a point to tell everyone I know how bad their service is. read more

Yum!! Just ordered for pickup. This is the kinda pizza perfect for date night! Add this with a great bottle of wine, perfection! I ordered the large cheese with jalapeño and it was just the juiciest, cheesiest pizza ever. I love me some home cooked pizza. They are rare to find. My brother adores the pepperoni but, honestly you don't need to get fancy here. A regular cheese will hit the spot! The best "NY style" Pizza I've had in Miami so far! The service was great, the staff is friendly and the owner has a great personality! The food looks and tastes great, I've tried the Pizza (traditional crust and Sicilian) it was very tasty. I've also tried the Chicken Parmigiana, the Meatballs and the Pasta. All of them were GREAT! I also really like the Garlic Knots that were served with the pasta dishes. Since my first visit I've ordered the Party Pizza (multiple toppings) and a couple different Pasta dishes for my staff at work; everyone loved it all and anytime we provide lunch for the staff at work they ask for Pizza Johny's! This place is right next to my house and I have yet to find a better pizza elsewhere. These giant pizzas are extremely taste and have some of the best ingredients. However, the other things on the menu aren't so good. I had ordered some bread rolls and they were subpar. I also ordered a lasagna one day to try something else and that was a mistake, one of the worst lasagnas I've ever had. A frozen lasagna from your local grocery store would have tasted better. So, this was a random dinner stop after a movie and before heading back to Cincinnati tomorrow. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by an older man stretching dough. It is in a strip mall and has 4 hi top tables and that's it! It was Friday night and man were they busy! The girl behind the counter was on 2 phones simultaneously and there was a steady flow of people coming and going with take out pizzas! We were recognized as first timers to the place and every person working said hello and welcome to our pizza place! We had to wait much longer than expected...which was fine! This is a great place for New York style Pizza (in Miami). I'm going to cut to the chase. They have NY Pizza, thin slice, perfect sauce, and exact amount of cheese! He started a conversation with me while I waited for my slices. Had a late Sunday lunch at Pizza Johny's. I shared some Pepperollis and tried a Cheese Slice and a Meatball & Ricotta Slice. Quality There are few things in this world that I am as opinionated about as pizza. Growing up just a stones throw from New York, the pizza capital of the world and I will not hear otherwise, I am a pizza snob. This makes Miami a very tough city to live in as the pizza scene is seriously lacking. But after hearing a bunch of hoopla regarding Pizza Johny's I made my way down to the Kendall area to give it a shot, and I am glad I did. Hidden away in southwest Miami you will find one of the best pizza spots in town. I make my main judgment call on how a place handles a Cheese Slice and they did it to near perfection. They serve up a large slice, crispy yet still soft, fresh tomato sauce, not overloaded with cheese, and of course served on a paper plate. I also tried out a Meatball & Ricotta Slice and it too was great, the ricotta was really amazing. While we waited for our slices I also shared some Pepperollis, which are somewhere in between a garlic knot and a pepperoni roll. Once again excellent, just expect the garlic to linger on you long afterwards. Without question I was impressed by everything Pizza Johny's had to offer. Quantity I would say that two slices are exactly what you need, maybe one if you load it with toppings. Half a dozen Pepperollis were also the perfect size starter for two people. Value Make sure to take advantage of the Yelp check-in deal, but even without it everything is very reasonably priced. For the two of us to eat until we were stuffed it came to just under $15. Ambiance Pizza Johnny's is located in a small strip mall off of Sunset, somewhere in-between South Miami and Kendall. The space is very large, but the kitchen takes up most of it. When you walk in you have a small seating and waiting area and then a full view of the massive kitchen and ovens. Everything is very open so don't be surprised to hear the person cooking up your slice check in on how crispy you like it. The walls are covered with various posters and pictures of New York and several comedic signs. Along the counter you will find a glass display with other food as well as a freezer full of gelato and fresh cookies. It is very casual with just a few high top tables inside and two or three regular tables outside. In the background they had an 80s station going, but the staff asked if anyone wanted to listen to something else. Crowd There was a constant flow of pizza leaving the store while we were there. I watched as the delivery guy took dozens of pizzas with him. Several people also just stopped in for carry out. The staff seemed to know many of the customers and even knew a few folks orders before they spoke. It is easy to see why they would have many regulars. Service Amazing. From the tremendous rapport they had with their regulars to the friendly service they provided us, it is excellent what you want from your local pizza place. Parking They are located in a strip mall, so there was a private lot. However, the lot was definitely not large enough the the center, so we had to take a few laps to finally get a spot. Extra The problem with Pizza Johny's is that they decided to set up shop down south instead of a more central location. The pizza is awesome, the staff is incredible, and the prices are cheap. If you live in South Miami and Kendall you have no excuse for not stopping in, and everyone else you should make the hike. read more

Very underwhelmed by the pizza. Granted, we got delivery via Postmates and it took way too long and was quite cold by the time it arrived, but on the app it appeared the driver sat at the restaurant for a while. Got only garlic as a topping and unfortunately it is the jarred, minced kind, not fresh and no effort was made to evenly distribute it. It was just plopped down in big piles here and there. Also got the Apple/Walnut/Cranberry salad and added goat cheese. Requested Arugula instead of Romaine, but got Romaine. Also requested red onions to be added and received none. Salad ingredients were fresh and generous toppings. I definitely enjoyed it more than the pizza. Zeppoli were filled with chocolate chip cannoli creme, which totally ruined them for me. I have to say over a year ago even before covid. The food was great! Wtf happened to you guys?! 3 months ago I got the chicken dish! Was tasteless and terrible. I called you guys. All you could say was...sorry and nothing else!!! With no concerned. So today I figured , let me give you a second chance. So I got the bruschetta... it had nothing but large onions and tomatoes what happened to the parm cheese?! And the steak and arugula sandwich was all bread!!!!!
