I had likely passed by it before but this is the time I really noticed it was there and made myself stop. Pizza Mafia is a very basic place. They have large slices of pizzas (or you can order a full pizza), hot dogs, and sodas. The place is small and the only seating is in the form of two wood bars on the sides at which you can stand. Neither the limited menu or the lack of furniture should put you off. The pizza is really good and very reasonably priced. I personally ordered two slices and a drink (margherita and one with bell peppers and salami). The slices are clearly off the 20" pizza and can easily make a full meal. I fully admit I actually had to get mine to go and by the time I ate it at the train station it was cold, but the slices were excellent. The margherita wasn't standout, but the they used a nice amount of toppings on the other without overwhelming the crust. The crust was nice and thin without being brittle and the sauce was good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but it was very good when judged against anything. It was fantastic when compared to other pizzas at its price point. My entire meal cost £4 and to have a third slice would have only cost an additional £1. I don't often eat when I'm in proper Stirling but I'm tempted to drop by Pizza Mafia. Sometimes we just all need a cheap slice... or two, or three.

The best pizza place in the West End? It's a difficult choice to make but there's a good chance…read morethat it's Little Italy. I'm sure most people would at least put it in their top 3. It's not an enormous restaurant. A large bar/service area takes up a lot of space, as does the pizza oven at the back and as suck the seats are kind of arranged all the way around the edges. Somehow though, whenever I've wanted to sit in, they have managed to find a space for me. They do pizza and pasta mostly, with a few other Italian favourites. The coffee is really good and the cake is the ideal thing to bring as a surprise in a take away box to a friend who needs cheering up. Trust me, it never fails. The pizza comes as slices (really squares) or three other standard sizes, starting at 10 inch and is cheese and tomato by default. There isn't really a menu of standard toppings like, for example, mushroom and proscuitto, red pepper and goats cheese, Hawaiian, Four Seasons, etc. Rather, they just have all imaginable toppings and you tell them which ones you'd like. This way you pay for the toppings you want based on the size of pizza you order, and every pizza is, in that sense, personalised. Once you've placed your order you're given a buzzer (regardless of whether you're sitting in or taking out) and when it goes off you head over to that pizza oven and the chef will hand it to you with or without freshly ground black pepper, according to your preference. The pizza is always good too. Always. The base is great and the toppings are reliably fresh and delicious. Sadly, the days are gone when a snapfax and £4 could get you a pizza and a can of soda but their still very fairly priced for the quality you can expect.

Feel Italian for the Day…read more Italian staff, Italian coffee, Italian pizza, Italian radio, Costco pastries? :-) But let's get serious here. This vibrant little shop is the Italian espresso bar personified. The coffee is perfect for your morning cappuccino, the focaccia's perfect for a quick lunch and the pizza's perfect for your tea (or since we're in The West End should I say dinner?) Tiramisu? That's another story. It's not always on offer, but when it is - I'M THERE! Word of note though - just stay away from the sugar bowls. I've seen licked spoons go where they ought not to. Luckily I don't take the white stuff :-)

The caprese appetizer was fresh and well balanced with tomatoes, cheese, and light lettuce accents. Service was outstanding, with warm, friendly, and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome. I'd had shrimp scampi pizza before and pizza with escargot many years ago and was surprised at how well seafood and pizza go together. The Frutti di Mare pizza from Almafi's was no exception. With calamari, mussels and king prawns topping a tomato sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan base, there was plenty of flavor. I happily devoured most of the pizza and was glad my hubby had filled up on onion rings so I didn't have to share more than a couple of slices. Loved the pizza so much, I made sure it was also the last thing I ate before departing Glasgow to fly back to Dublin. First pizza the dough was more puffy, which I preferred. The second one was a flatter dough but still delicious. This was likely because the pizza oven wasn't as hot or the dough had rested differently - the first one was in the evening and the second flatter one was just as they opened at 11:30am. Note that their signage refers to opening at noon, but their website and Google say 11:30.
