Hubs was craving a burger after spending 4+ hours on I-4 driving to Daytona from Tampa on a Friday…read moreafternoon in December. As we headed east through Port Orange, he spotted a couple of national chain restaurants and I cringed inside. But then we saw Houligan's, not knowing anything about this small local *chain*, and we both wanted to give it a try. Now that I know a bit of their 30-year legacy in this area, I'm happy with our choice. My only critique is that some of the menu prices weren't current. For example, adding a side salad to my Philly cheese steak was $4.99 on the menu but we were charged $5.99. That said, it was a good size salad & worth $6. Which leads me to digress about their ranch dressing... It was REALLY good. So good that I asked for an extra cup for my Philly cheese steak & Hubs' fries (99¢). Our server mentioned that their Ranch dressing is made in-house, and it definitely shows. I'm not often a Philly Cheesesteak gal but on this night I was craving one. When our server confirmed that I could have it sans peppers, onions & mushrooms, that sounded perfect! It was fantastic! And, YES, I dipped in that amazing Ranch dressing a few times. Not sure why I didn't opt for the French Dip, but I'll definitely consider that sandwich on another visit. I chose mashed potatoes as my side, and they were absolutely incredible. Hubs ordered a burger with mushrooms & loved it. We also split a side salad, which is how I discovered that Ranch dressing. IT WAS SO GOOD. Realistically, I'm not sure when we'll be able to visit another Houligan's but I hope we can. We do pop over to Daytona occasionally but usually on the way to Jacksonville or on the way home to Tampa - not really to eat. But now that we know about Houligan's, and hubs still wants to try their Wally Wings, we may plan a future route just so we can visit again.

OK, how is it that I've literally lived across the street from this place and never tried it until…read morejust very recently?? If you're eating wings anywhere else in Volusia county, and maybe even all of Florida, you are seriously missing out!! Mulligan's has THE BEST wings, hands down, of any place in Florida. (Sorry Houligan's, Wing House and Hooters...these guys have you beat!) And if you read my other reviews, you might notice that I'm something of a "wing nut"! Try the "Mulligan" wings...they're simply amazing! The sauce is they're own concoction of "sweet, sour, BBQ and spices", and it's mouth-watering delicious! Have them grilled for an even more awesome taste treat...I prefer to have mine "wet", AFTER the grill...I know, it's just gluttony!! The wings are true "JUMBO" wings, very large and meaty. I'm a big eater and a basket of ten, sometimes with their amazing french fries, are enough to stave off even my appetite. The rest of the food is just as tantalizing and I've heard really positive things about their Reuben sandwiches, their 1/2 racks of ribs and their Fried Green Beans. But as awesome as it is, the food isn't the only reason you should come to this very friendly, Cheers-style pub. The people who work at Mulligan's are some of the friendliest you'll meet. The term "neighborhood bar and grill" fits this little place to a tee, and from the extremely amicable bartenders to the affable and never-far-away wait-staff, you'll feel like you're part of the family the first time you come here. Now for us beer drinkers, they have the usual "yellow fizzy" culprits on tap, but they also have a seasonal brew or two (such as Sam Adams Summer Ale or Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale). Of course they have Guiness Stout on tap and, in bottles, they have DogFishHead IPA (60 minute!), Spaten Optimator, Red Stripe, and all the usual Buds, Bud Light, etc. They round out their menu with an impressive dessert section for a bar and grill. Lately, they've had two home-made goodies available...a Peanut Butter Crunch Pie and White Chocolate Cheesecake. The Lady and I tried to get the Chocolate Decadence cake that still graces the menu, but alas, it is no longer offered. We tried the Peanut Butter Crunch Pie...it was delicious and decadent. We also tried the Key Lime Pie, and if there's anything that this establishment does NOT do well, it's the Key Lime Pie. I don't recommend it. I DO, however, recommend coming to watch the game on one of their MANY flat panel TV's or joining the crowd on Friday or Saturday night for one of the best Karaoke parties in the area. There's quite a bit of talent that shows up, and the party goes on until 2:00 am! So if you find yourself in Port Orange craving some AMAZING wings, and an all-around great time, get down to Mulligan's and check it out. Since I live very close by, I'll probably see you there!

Yum... This is from…read morea delivery order, so I can't comment on the restaurant itself, but the food was well-packaged and included plenty of napkins, utensils and wipes in the delivery bag. First off, the salad base was a great spring mix of leafy greens with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, grated cheese. Everything was fresh and crispy. Their balsamic vinaigrette was very good. Next, let's talk about these Zingers. A very generous portion of them came with the salad order. They were so juicy and flavorful. They were a meal in and of themselves. I could have just eaten them and been totally satisfied. I had added some chicken wings because, why not? I ordered them tossed in garlic sauce, and they were also flavorful, hearty and well prepared. I'd never thought about ordering from Miller's Ale House in the past because I always thought of it as just another chain restaurant, but this order has me rethinking my next lunch order... because I would definitely order from them again.

Let me start with the single positive, because I need to be fair: the presentation was genuinely…read morefine. Everything looked beautiful, like a perfectly styled set for a culinary disaster movie. The plates were clean, the garnish was precise--it was the visual equivalent of a lovely, non-threatening sunrise before a meteor strikes. But then, the eating began. My wife ordered the steak. After the first few bites, she offered a suspicious frown and declared, "This just doesn't seem right." I shrugged it off. Ignorance, as they say, is bliss. I was preoccupied with my Osso Buco. It tasted fine, actually! Quite lovely, a rich, savory broth wrapping around the tender veal. It was, perhaps, the perfect Trojan Horse. The true nature of the meal revealed itself the second we stepped through our own front door. It wasn't indigestion; it was a full-scale gastronomic betrayal. My wife was the first to fall, clutching her abdomen as if she'd swallowed a volcanic eruption. Her "very bad stomach" quickly escalated into a Category 5 hurricane. However, the universe saved its true masterpiece of chaos for me. The Osso Buco wasn't just fine; it was a pressurized biological weapon, timed to detonate precisely at the point of maximum inconvenience. I experienced the physical manifestation of the phrase "explosive diarrhea." This was not merely going to the bathroom--this was a tactical, hurried retreat that involved sounds that should only be heard in wartime documentaries. I'm currently filing a Missing Person Report for my large intestine. I have reliable reports that my colon, having achieved escape velocity, was last seen heading south on I-95, passing the Ft. Pierce exit at approximately 85 mph. If anyone sees a long, winding tube attempting to hitchhike to Miami, please inform it that its services are urgently required back north.
