Major disappointment. I hate giving bad reviews. But at the same time as someone in business I know you can't improve if you don't know the problems. I don't know if it's this particular Pizza Hut or Pizza Hut in general but it was very disappointing to retry an old favorite and have a bad experience.
I grew up on Pizza Hut and would rate it and LaRosa's as my top two favorite. After moving to Bright Indiana I kind of lost track of Pizza Hut because there are other much closer options. Last night I decided to go back and try an old favorite.
I went to order and found that they have large pizzas any topping for $10. I wasn't really looking for a deal but that was the only price showing and I ordered 2 large pizzas and 12 wings.
They were done on time and with the toppings I had ordered. However the boxes looked kind of small. When I got home and opened the boxes I found pizzas that would have been called medium in the past. Compared to LaRosa's Snappy Tomato and prime time Pizza these were definitely not large. I ordered traditional crust which I always got in the past. I'm not sure how thin crust could possibly have been any thinner than this. It was crispy and about the thickness of a cracker. Not at all what I used to get when I order traditional crust. They also made a big deal on website about flavored crust. One was supposed to have garlic butter and one garlic butter and parmesan. Both were plain.
Then come the toppings. Yes they were all here. Sort of. I ordered chicken spinach bacon diced tomatoes and red onion on one. On a large pizza I literally counted 12 one by one inch cubes of chicken. There were some red onions and a lot of spinach. I'm not trying to exaggerate but I literally counted 15 bacon crumbles. I'm not trying to be stupid by counting these things but they were so sparse it was hard to believe.
The other one I ordered several Meats and vegetables and extra pineapple. Once again I counted 10 pieces of pineapple on a large pizza. And that was extra.
The only real redeeming part of the entire thing was the wings. They were moist inside crunchy outside and delicious. However, once again, when paying $13 for 12 wings I didn't really expect to be charged $0.50 for a little container of ranch dressing. From what I remember they used to include one per order.
I would much rather be charged full price for a pizza and get quality than be charged $10 for something that is obviously skimped on.
like I said it is probably Pizza Hut as a whole not just this one that has made these changes. I fully understand needing to save money as a company. But I can tell you I unfortunately will not be trying Pizza Hut again anytime soon. Right there in Harrison there is a Domino's and Marcos and there is a LaRosas in West Harrison. In the past I would have thought that Pizza Hut was one of the top two choices between those. I would honestly rate last night experience as closer to Little Caesars than any of these other places. But at least at Little Caesars you know you're going to get sub quality food at a low price. It just saddens me that an old favorite is going downhill. read more
