We've dined in before but that was a long time ago & I couldn't recall the experience. Anyhow, husband made some bomb sticky rice the day before and since we had no ideas for what to make tonight, this sounded like a great solution! I highly recommend this deal! I ordered the 1lb head on shrimp. Daddy sauce. Mild. It was perfectly cooked and very tasty. At first I thought it was too spicy, after a few, I realized it was the perfect amount of spice. The portion was plentiful. Husband had the fish po' boy with garlic fries and said it was great. Total was $31 including tax.

I am beyond disappointed and honestly disturbed by my experience at this restaurant…read more My seafood order was mistakenly delivered to another table. That table opened the dish and ate some of the rice. Instead of immediately discarding the entire plate and remaking the meal, the server brought the same dish back to me after realizing the mistake. I was told "they didn't touch it," which was completely untrue. Once food has been served to another table and opened, it should NEVER be given to another guest -- especially seafood. This is basic food safety. The fact that this was even debated is alarming. There was no compensation, no manager intervention, and no real accountability -- just a casual apology. Only the rice was replaced, which does not resolve the fact that the rest of the dish had already been handled and served elsewhere. This was not a minor mistake; it was a serious hygiene and professionalism failure. I should not have to question whether my food is safe to eat. Serving food that has already been eaten by another table isn't just careless -- it's unsafe, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

I guess because it's a sports bar restaurant, and it's in Bakersfield. I got the shock of my life. It turned out, this was the best barbecue food I ever had. Not only that, but it's very affordable. I would say a bargain. I didn't have to spend 100+ dollars for 2 persons, like a lot of so called high quality barbecue restaurants. The briskets and ribs were amazing. Delicious, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. Sides were also delicious. The service was good too. You just go up and get your order. It took a little time, but the staff is helpful and friendly. I'll be back here again, the next time I'm in Bakersfield. Maybe I'll visit the Buck Owen's museum. Bakersfield is truly the Texas of California, although I've only been to El Paso, Texas.

I really enjoy my ribs they were tender and in my opinion they didn't need the sauce. I enjoyed how spacious the place is and the giants fan they have keep the place cool during this hot weather. On the road between the Bay Area and LA, I found a perfect excuse to get some "unhealthy" food because this restaurant is located conveniently off the freeway. The interior is nicely decorated: cheerful colorful, spacious, and clean. Bathrooms are close by and pleasant. I ordered with the app about ten minutes ahead of arrival and my order was ready when I got there. The lady at the counter was friendly and welcoming. So I'd say service was excellent. The two of us shared two items from the $6 menu: a 3-piece spicy chicken (two thighs and a breast) and a spicy chicken sandwich. Food was hot and fresh and delicious. The sandwich came in a soft, light bun; and the piece of chicken breast was scrumptious, moist, and tasty. The spicy fried chicken was meaty and tender. At $6 each, I would say that it was a very good value. Will definitely stop by again next time I drive through this area.

The Location: Perfectly situated at the Buttonwillow gas station hub. It is incredibly convenient for a quick transition from the highway to a comfortable seat. The facility is a great place to take a rest and make sure your "tummy is comfortable" before the next leg of the trip. The Food: The food is consistently good--hot, fresh, and exactly what you crave during a long drive. My only piece of advice is to double-check your bag before you pull away from the window or leave the counter. While the food is "yummy," they occasionally mix up the specifics. For example, if you prefer all dark meat, you might find a piece of white meat in there if you don't check. Also they just swapped the chicken piece even though you have taken your order to your table. They should not do it as they won't know what customer has done to the food. Overall: A nice, reliable place to have a meal and a necessary break during a long trip. I'll definitely be back on my next drive down south or North!

One gets a generous portion and the sandwich was big enough for my husband and I to share with a side of tasty sweet potatoe fries (a bit extra - or you can get plain potato fries for no extra charge). We also got a side of the creamy coleslaw which is ok and even better if you add salt and a dash of malt vinegar (it needs acid imo). I didn't take a photo of the sandwich because so many other yelpers have already done so. But trust me it's worth the stop. Service is super warm and friendly, the place is spotlessly clean, and I am a fan. We liked the sandwich so much we ordered another to go for lunch the next day. I only wish I had room for pie! They offer a wide selection of pies and I've gotta think they are yummy too. Next time.

On a road trip, my friend Denise and I were looking for a convenience store in roads that were not…read morepaved with cement nor were they in the center of a chic boutique and a hits-the-spot every time boba shop. Yes, we were basically on dirt roads that saw a few scattered homes here and there, and visible old school phone towers (the brown kind) connected with wires (where crows sit on a row) existed, and not much else. We drove around in some circles, looking for this fabled store and found nothing, not even a Bigfoot. We noted how the moment felt like we were on an Iowa highway because we saw expansive fields and experienced a Middle-America atmosphere. I wanted a small stalk of wheat in between my teeth. As we drove, we saw this place and decided that this joint would replace the store we were looking for. At this point I started to listen to Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If you know, you know. As soon as I entered I felt like I had stepped into a diner in the middle of nowhere, the type of spot where brothers talked about saving people, hunting things, you know the family business. My friend Denise did not know what I was talking about and when I tried to introduce the world to her with corny prompts she decided not to play along. Still for a fan the experience was nothing but a win!(chester). I cannot remember the person who helped us but she was a server who reported that she had lived in the surrounding area for most of her life. She was deepening the believe that we were on a route diner neglected by city reality. During this visit, I had fried okra for the first time in my life. It was weird to taste but not in a bad way. More like I had never tasted this texture before in my life. The texture that I had not tried before in my life was a gooey vegetable. Like the texture of the outside was exactly as advertised--- fried goodness. The actual okra was the gooey part. I do not want to sound crass, truly, I do not, but it did feel like enjoying something slimy, and I will leave it at that. Again, not wrong, just weird But I will not get it again. The server- the homegrown one- gave us fried pickles and these were much more to taste. Like, I i have had fried pickles before and I loved them but I had some that were not for me. But these, these, were pickle spears fried to brown goodness, and the mixture hit green- which does not mean go, more like Hulk enjoys, instead of smashes. It was a simple dish yes- green spear pickle fried but sometimes the goodness of a county fair is exactly what a roadtrip snack should be. The fair came to my table and I am not mad at that. On this trip I did have the Willow Dip which I feel is a close cousin to a french dip. What this place did well, at least I think, is putting it on an onion baguette. I am not sure if onion baguette is a middle-of-nowhere bread, but, I allowed it because the taste of the bread was, like tailored made for me, I am a sucker for onion, and not just because it gives me sexy breath. The food was standard, solid fare. Everything was just good nothing wrong with it, all good with it. The sauces were tasty, and added smoky sweet flavor that was welcomed. So this elevated the dish by addding a hickory taste. It did not save the dishes, but did make them better. The decorations were texas heavy. I should have taken more pictures. But sometimes the imagination allows for a space to feel more than at it is.

Honestly, if it wasn't for them, I probably never would've known this place existed. Hot Tender Wings doesn't seem to do much marketing, and it's tucked away on Union Avenue near Superior Grocery, so it's easy to drive right past it. But I'm glad I didn't. I went with the 8 Piece Tender/Wing Combo -- 4 Garlic Parmesan wings and 4 Lemon Pepper tenders -- which came with a can of soda, fries, and a dip. The menu also lists coleslaw and garlic toast, but those didn't make it into my bag, made me a little sad. I also grabbed the Mexican Burger, which caught my eye because there's a spot in LA that does a legit al pastor burger patty, and I thought this was the same concept. Took everything back to the office for lunch, and my wife and I went in. The Garlic Parmesan wings were seriously good -- well-seasoned, cooked through, and still crispy. The Lemon Pepper tenders were juicy with great seasoning, not dry like so many places serve them. That's honestly the bar most spots fail to clear -- wings and tenders are either fire or garbage, rarely in between -- and Hot Tender Wings cleared it with room to spare. The fries were standard but fresh and seasoned well, no complaints there. Now, about that Mexican Burger. When I unwrapped it, I realized it was built like a torta -- al pastor meat, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, the whole thing on a hamburger-style bun. Was I a little let down? Yeah, slightly. But was it good? Absolutely. It just wasn't what I pictured. If you're going there for wings, stay in your lane and get the wings -- they outshine the Mexican Burger by miles. I probably won't reorder it, but only because I'm at a wing spot next time, not because it was bad. Speaking of wings, their current flavor lineup is Original, BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, Lemon Pepper, Mango Habanero, Sweet Chili, Buffalo, and Nashville Hot -- solid, but pretty standard. What separates the good spots from the great ones is when they go beyond the basics and make it their own. Bakersfield Pizza Company does Taco wings and Strawberry Chili wings. Fire Wings leans into Asian-inspired flavors. Hot Tender Wings is already solid -- now imagine if they leaned into their surroundings and added Mexican/Hispanic-inspired flavors. Birria wings where they thicken the consomé into a toss sauce? An Elote-style wing dusted with cotija and chili lime? Yes, I'm putting this in writing. Yes, I'm a little obsessed. But that kind of creativity would make them standout in this city. Go check them out. The food is good, the price is right, and they're easy to get to. Just make sure you get the wings and tenders, straight GAS!!
