Have been to nthis place numerous times, and have had a very good meal whether it was lasagne or…read morepizzza ect. However last night my friend and I decided to have the Steak peppata. I cut into my steack and notuce a thick piece of grizzle running through the middle. Having cut this out and the fat around the outside I was left with a mediocre piece of meat. I noticed that my friends steak was a lot thicker and juicer and looke3d 10oz. Mine looked more like 6oz. He said it tasted very nice. However mine did not, it was very chewy. I called the manager over to complain and he said that all meat was the same from the same butcher and then said to me that he would give me their butchers telephone number to complain to him. Now that is something, me complain to a restaurants supplier. I could not explain ton him that it was up to me to complain. After a heated discussion the manager then said that he would cook me another steak which I declined. He then went into the kitchen and came out with 3 steaks sealed saying to look and see how good they were. Yes of course they were good, mine was not and that was the one we were talking about. I tried to explain this to him that those may have been ok but mine was not and he kept on about how his meat came from a very good butcher. I told him that if I paid £24.50 for a sirlion then I expected a decent sirlion what I got was a piece of meat from a sizzler pub that charged £9.50. He did take the price of the steak of the bill but that was refused by me as that was not the point. My friend then made a compromise and we would not pay for the steak but give the money for waiters gratuities. However I shall not be going back t o this restaurant again. Its a pity because the other times have been enjoyable and decent food.

This place is an absolute gem of a restaurant ! We were very warmly greeted by the lovely bleached…read moreblonde Italiano waitress. Who immediately reconised my mother (she's been once before). After the greetings we got down to the very Bristolion tradition of consuming Thatchers Gold. Thankfully they had these in abundance from a large bottle at a not to shabby 3.50. There is a fantastic reasonably priced wine menu, we just didn't fancy it. Decor wise this place is tastefully done but it aint gonna blow your brains out ! Lots of neutral colours. Which for me is just fine. Cause I came to eat not look at the walls ! And eat we did oh yes ! We started with prochitto with melon and calamari. All perfect the calamari was particularly good with a melt on yer tounge texture. For mains my missus opted for the sea food tomatoe pasta dish. Cant remember the name but it was a proper party on the taste buds. I had the Casa pizza which was sublime. I dont normally do pizza eating out but afer seeing a neighbouring tables come I opted and my word am I glad I did. Its was the best pizza ive had in years! Topped off with a limochella shot for dessert this was one unforgettably good meals that didn't break the bank. Oh, and did I mention that the service was great ?

Nice to eat pre or post cinema and there are always a lot of birthday parties here when I visit…read more Sometimes a long wait for a table in busy periods but they have a bar area where you can wait and order drinks and they give you little buzzers that light up when your table is ready. They have a huge menu but that doesn't mean they scrimp on taste. The food comes in generous portions and is lovely. A nice surprise is the Italian language lessons in the loos. The walls are covered in Italian photos that look like they come out of any Scorcese movie and they also have they huge wine cabinets.

The menu is the standard fare but they do have some good offers and meal deals which make the cost quite reasonable. Service usually ok, held a very helpful server onve when I was there for lucnhc with my baby. Toilets are clean and the restaurant is kept clean and tidy. There are some tables outside which is great for a summer evening. The food is tasty, hot and generous, I cynically don't expect much more than that from a chain! I have to admit though that their pudding can be rather nice! Handy if you have just been shopping at the Mallwhich is just next door or planning on going to the cinema.

AVOID if you have children with you!! My mum and I went with my two little boys for lunch today, we…read moreordered garlic bread, pasta and a children's meal. The garlic bread and kids meal arrived in super quick time which was great. We fed the children and ate our garlic bread. My mum didn't want all of hers so she left it on her plate. Twenty minutes later our main course still hadn't arrived, so we brought this to the attention of our server. She said that as we hadn't finished our starter she hadn't put the order in for our main course and that their policy was to wait until the starters had been finished before bringing the main! We suggested that perhaps this wasn't the best way to do business, especially since not everyone wants to eat all of their starter and that with two young children at the table it was a poor way of managing their tables. The supervisor came over and just reiterated that this was their policy and basically like it or lump it. Of course, by the time the main course came, at this point about 30 minutes after the garlic bread had been delivered, the boys were not able to sit down any longer and we had to leave without finishing. At no point was there any apology or sympathy from the server or the supervisor, and they both demanded that they were simply doing nothing more 'than their job'. There was no suggestion of any money off the bill, even though due to their tardiness we had been unable to finish, and they smirked when I suggested that perhaps they'd do well to heed the old adage that the customer was always right. My family have spent a lot of money in Carluccio's over the years - we shall never go back again. I was disgusted at how we were treated.

With Pizzas from as little as £6.20 and pasta dishes from £5.95 as well as a nice selection of affordable starters perhaps Ciao are trying to tempt us in to try their food and great value. They managed to lure me in and I was pleasantly surprised by their Mozzarella Milanese (in breadcrumbs) and Lasagne. They offer the option of having any pasta as a starter for £4.00 which is great if you have a smaller appetite or fancy trying two pasta dishes! If you can get there before 3pm you can get any pizza or pasta for just shy of a lady guidiver and of an evening you can choose two courses for a tenner or three for £12.00. Ciao doesn't yet quite qualify for Bristol's Best Italian Award but it is great value and not to be dismissed as a worthwhile option.
